Jaume Collet-Serra has a fascinating filmography that gets more and more interesting as time goes on. His debut feature was the aughts horror "House of Wax" remake, but he's now at the helm of the DC superhero movie "Black Adam." While the general public may know him best for his films like the Dwayne Johnson-starring "Jungle Cruise" or the Liam Neeson action thrillers "Unknown," "Non-Stop," "Run All Night," and "The Commuter," to horror fans, he'll always be the man behind "Orphan" and "The Shallows." After his foray into the DC Extended Universe, Jaume Collet-Serra is returning to his thrilling roots with the new film "Carry On."
"Carry On" marks the first collaborative effort between Netflix and Amblin as part of the overall deal Amblin signed with the streaming giant last year. Tj Fixman was behind the screenplay's first draft, with Michael Green providing the finishing touches. No word yet...

Jo Koy’s comedy film “Easter Sunday” has released its first trailer, giving a first glimpse into the antics of a loving, chaotic Filipino American family and the large ensemble cast who plays them.
Jo Valencia (Jo Koy) is in for a weekend of good old-fashioned family fun when he and his son (Brandon Wardell) head home for Easter Sunday – “like the Filipino Super Bowl.” A single father and comedian, Jo is famous for his famous beer commercial tagline (“Let’s get the party started babaaaay!”). His career is a source of confusion and hilarity in his family; when he tells his mother (Lydia Gaston) he’s going to film a pilot, she thinks he’s going to play “a pilot on a TV show.” Back home, he runs into an old flame (played by Tiffany Haddish), tells jokes at church and spends time mediating feuds at various family functions,...

Universal has dated two DreamWorks movies, Distant and Easter Sunday, as well as Amblin Entertainment’s The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
Distant, directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, will open on March 11, 2022. The sci-fi adventure stars Anthony Ramos as a low-level mining engineer whose spaceship gets struck by an asteroid sending him to an unknown alien planet. There he contends with his AI survival suit (voiced by Zachary Quinto) and aliens. He connects with a fellow crew member (Naomi Scott) via radio, but she’s trapped inside her own escape pod, and losing oxygen as well. Pic is written by Spenser Cohen and produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger and Anna Halberg. Speck and Gordon are also EPs with Jonathan Rothbart and Matthew Hirsch. Kevin K. Vafi is co-producer. Pic will open against Disney/Pixar’s Turning Red.
Easter Sunday will open on April 1, 2022 and it’s the only wide release currently dated.

As we reported back in January, Lionsgate contracted horror-comedy Cooties after its premiere at Sundance, taking control of North American distribution for the film. But the version that sees release from the label won't quite be the same as the one screened at Sundance. Read on!
In an interview with Twitch Film at the Toronto Fan Expo, producer/star Elijah Wood spilled the beans about the last-minute change, which he says makes the film better than it previously was.
"Off of the pickup from Lionsgate, which was always the home we had hoped for, we ended up getting some more money to make a new ending, which we're really excited about," said Wood. "We only had so much money, and the ending we made we weren't always that happy with so we got to make a new ending, and we're psyched. I'm excited for people to see it; it's really funny.
