The Dave Matthews Band (Dmb) has announced this year’s summer tour.
The band will return to some of the venues they performed at last year during the 2023 Summer Tour. Places like The Woodlands, Texas, West Palm Beach, Florida and Wantagh, New York, among others, will be welcoming the rock band back.
Many of their tour stops will have them staying for two nights and performing back-to-back concerts.
Also, like last year, Dmb is scheduled to conclude the summer tour in George, Washington, at the Gorge Amphitheatre in September.
Dmb has found much success since their formation in 1991. With ten studio albums, they’ve sold over 30 million albums in the whole country alone. They’ve also been nominated for the Grammy Awards 14 times and won Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1997.
Band members include frontman Dave Mathews, bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer Carter Beauford, violinist Boyd Tinsley and saxophonist LeRoi Moore.

30 years ago today, audiences were treated again to the utterly watchable pair of Daniel and Mr. Miyagi. The Karate Kid, Part II opened in theaters on June 20, 1986. In the sequel, released two years after the original film, Daniel’s wax on, wax off early training days are behind him, and he’s impressively slicing through six blocks of ice. The boy and his mentor travel together to Mr. Miyagi’s home village in Okinawa, Japan. Sparks fly between Daniel and Kumiko, the niece of Mr. Miyagi’s childhood girlfriend, to the synthesizer-tastic tune of “Glory of Love” by Peter Cetera. The song hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 later that summer and got an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. Other notable June 20 happenings in pop culture history: • 1948: The Ed Sullivan Show — then titled Toast of the Town — premiered on CBS. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis performed in that first episode,...

Boyd Tinsley’s name and face are known to millions of admirers all over the globe – but not for his film work. Tinsley has spent the past two decades of his life as the violinist for the Dave Matthews Band, going platinum dozens of times over. But with the release of Faces In The Mirror, Tinsley enters into the world of film for the first time, adding producer and screenwriter to his resume. Though the actors in Faces don’t sing, it’s almost a sort of cinematic opera. The film follows the personal odyssey of Ben (Ryan Orr), a man who has just lost his father – the story of Ben coming to terms with his tragedy is told primarily through songs (also written by Tinsley). The end result is an unusual, slightly surreal film that Tinsley refers to as a “psychedelic drama,” incorporating music, poetry, and a minimum of...

And even after a career-spanning set that included "Don't Drink the Water," "Satellite" and "Why I Am," Dmb still have plenty of hits to draw from for the next two headlining performances of their inaugural three-day festival.
Matthews gave nods to almost all of the day's supporting acts, mentioning Delta Spirit, Carolina Chocolate Drops and The Head & The Heart, and saying, "It was a pleasure to share the stage with Ray Lamontagne." David Ryan Harris, who played Friday afternoon, joined the band for perennial crowd favorite "Jimi Thing" from their 1994 debut, Under the Table and Dreaming.

For many, the Dave Matthews Band is summer. So, after a 20-year kinship with the band on the road, what exactly would a Dmb-less summer look like for devoted fans? Lucky for "Dave heads," they'll no longer have to ponder that prospect.
In 2010 the band announced they would be taking a hiatus from touring in 2011, but in the months that followed, an announcement was made that the multifaceted group — which includes Dave Matthews, Carter Beauford, Stefan Lessard and Boyd Tinsley, as well as Rashawn Ross, Tim Reynolds and Jeff Coffin (who stepped in after the death of founding member LeRoi Moore) — would be headlining a four-stop, multi-act Caravan festival from June to September.

The year was 1998. I was 16 years old, and though my music taste erred more on the side of punk and metal, there were a series of holes that allowed for the jam universe to sneak in. I was still a few months away from being eyeball-deep in Phish bootlegs, but I had already embraced the Dick's Picks series of Grateful Dead live tapes, and I had also become an enthusiastic follower of Dave Matthews Band. I had never thought much of the songs Dmb managed to get on the radio (they seemed like a slightly funkier Hootie and the Blowfish to me at the time), but a friend had put me on to their already-vast well of live shows, which allowed for a lot of exploration and fusion jams.

Back when the Dave Matthews Band first made a splash on the national music scene, who would have thought that they would eventually blossom into the stadium-packing powerhouse they currently are? Not only did Dmb develop a rightfully-earned reputation for being a killer live act (blending together elements of rock, jazz, funk and borrowed bits of rhythmic influences from around the world), but they also managed to become a modern rock radio-ruling juggernaut with a boatload of big singles and a healthy dose of chart-topping albums. Their rise to the top of the commercial ladder began on this day in 1994, when their first studio album Under the Table and Dreaming was released.
Produced by Steve Lillywhite, Under the Table and Dreaming managed not only to capture the band's effervescent live presence but also harnessed Matthews' impressive skills as a songwriter. People flocked to Under the Table and Dreaming because the...

M.I.A. is one of the music world's most colorful personalities, and her fashion sense, visual flair penchant for melding together disparate styles of electronic music into a rugged stew have kept her in the conversation since she first dropped her debut album Arular back in 2005. She just let the world know the title of her new album, and it's worthy of a double-take. The record, which will hit stores in July, will be called /\/\/\Y/\. Sure, it sort of spells out her name (her government moniker is Maya Arulpragasam), but it's mostly just a bunch of slashes with a "Y" tossed in there for good measure.
In fact, it immediately ascends onto the list of these confounding album titles that are either bizarre, uncomfortable or simply unpronounceable.

Perhaps she was not aware of her record-setting feat; her acceptance speech was decidedly low key."Thank you so much. Over the course of some 18 years together, the Dave Matthews Band have reached some rather incredible heights. They've sold more than 30 million albums, toured the world more times than anyone can remember and, in 2003, played a free show in New York's Central Park that drew more than 120,000 fans. It's been a fairly successful ride, to say the least.
But for all the highs, Dmb have never been lower than they were in 2008, when they began work on their seventh studio album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dogged by infighting and exhausted after nearly two decades spent on the road, the band nearly imploded. (In an interview last year with CBS News, Matthews even admitted that he sent a letter...

The full list of nominations for the 2010 Grammy Awards were unveiled last night, and it represents all the usual suspects. Taylor Swift leads the way with 10 nominations total, including nods for Record, Song and Album of the Year. It seems like the Grammy Awards would be the perfect end to an incredible cycle for Swift, whose Fearless is the top-selling album in the country in 2009 and who has won just about every award for which she has been nominated in the past 12 months (including Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards, Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards and Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards). Just behind her in nominations is Beyoncé, who continues to be lauded for her excellent I Am ... Sasha Fierce and who also scored the nomination trifecta for Record, Song and Album of the Year.

I know that Dave Matthews Band’s new #1 album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, is a tribute to their late saxophonist LeRoi Moore, so I feel weird making fun of it. I applaud the band’s devotion to the guy, and his death is genuinely tragic. But seriously: Is that title not the biggest “Wtf?” in the history of top-of-the-chart records?
I was curious, so I did a little digging. As it happens, there are a number of other titles that looked a little weird, or were hard to say, or otherwise just seemed ridiculous representing the most-bought album in this country. Before I get to the list, I want to make two points. First of all, it’s really interesting going back in time to look at the chart-topping albums through the years. The Dave Matthews Band lead the charge in a week of change at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Relinquishing the #1 spot after two weeks at the top is Eminem's Relapse, which moved 141,000 more copies, for a three-week total of 962,000. Moore -- the GrooGrux King -- is here from the start as "Big Whiskey" opens with a lonesome solo by the saxophonist. His presence remains throughout the project as Matthews finds himself contemplating life and death, mortality and the search for grace in manners big and small. Of course, any such discussion by Matthews has to include sex. Matthews has always done carnal pleasures well. "Crash into Me's" line 'Hike up your...

Moore’s last outing finds the band reverting
The tragic death of longtime member Leroi Moore was a jarring disturbance for the Dave Matthews Band, a unit that has always seemed utterly perennial. Appropriately, the first voice heard on the band’s new album is Moore’s saxophone, which flows throughout the album and returns to center stage in the waning moments of beautiful closer “You and Me.” Touching and tasteful tributes to his loss, these bookends are—for better or worse—the only overt departure from basic business on the latest Dmb album. While the band takes some sonic risks and shows continued versatility on songs like “Alligator Pie (Cockadile),” the album is saddled with some of the same leaden production values that have dogged the latter half of the band’s recorded career, and the weight of their pain creeps into the nooks where a joyful “Tripping Billies...

"That's the idea behind the song - that we will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to save a kid's life," the singer continues. "And then we will drop bombs out of the sky on each other and blow a whole school of them to pieces without a thought. And that's a funny world. ... That's why it's called 'Funny the Way It Is'.
"It's a pretty song and it talks about a lot of things," vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews says of the new single. "[It's about] death and love and all those things ... but it also talks about the world of opposites that we are in."
