Whether you like it or not, Sherlock Holmes is the man “who never lived and will never die.” Ever since being created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887, the iconic detective has been ever-present in popular culture: for 137 years, Sherlock Holmes has been investigating mind-boggling cases, uncovering conspiracies, and catching criminals. And he’s not stopping any time soon, we’ll tell you that much!
Sherlock Holmes Will Be Back on Pages
94 years after Conan Doyle’s death, the author’s descendants recently gave their blessing to writer Gareth Rubin (The Turnglass & The Winter Agent). Rubin will write a new book series about Sherlock Holmes, but this time, it won’t be just the iconic detective under the spotlight: titled Holmes and Moriarty, the new books will give his archnemesis just as much attention and time.
It won’t be the first time that a new author shakes the dust...

If you’re keen on watching a more classic take on the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, then the threequel to Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law’s series, Sherlock Holmes 3, will be right up your alley. Though from what we understand, the movie won’t be completely loyal to the source material.
The first two films, Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, released in 2009 and 2011 respectively, were a mixed bag. Downey Jr. delivered a stellar performance as you’d expect, and paired with the talented Jude Law, the two managed to show the powerful connection between Holmes and his best friend Dr. Watson, if little else.
News and information have been scarce from the team behind Sherlock Holmes 3, but we’ve heard that a few familiar characters, including Noomi Rapace’s Madam Simza Heron, will make a comeback. Additionally, reports claim...

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are finally about to return as the great detective and his faithful friend Dr. Watson for Sherlock Holmes 3, after their last movie together, A Game of Shadows, arrived way back in 2011. Surprisingly, though, it’s looking like this threequel will feature a lot of connections and shared continuity with the previous film.
We’ve already brought you the news that Jared Harris might be back as Professor Moriarty, with the villain perhaps turning out to have faked his death and causing Holmes more havoc. And now, sources close to We Got This Covered – the same ones that informed us Viola Davis would be back for The Suicide Squad and National Treasure 3 is in development, both of which have since been confirmed – say that Noomi Rapace will likewise be included in the cast.

After the Dolittle debacle, which saw the movie stake a claim for becoming 2020’s biggest box office bomb despite only being released in the third week of January, with the family fantasy more likely to be remembered for the now-infamous dragon colonoscopy scene more than anything else, Robert Downey Jr. could really use a hit movie to rehabilitate his already-flagging reputation.
There are now many people questioning whether the 54 year-old made the right decision in leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe, given that he had grown so accustomed to remaining in his comfort zone as Tony Stark, but luckily for him, Rdj has another multi-billion dollar franchise to fall back on.
Sherlock Holmes 3 is still scheduled to be released next December and while both entries in the franchise earned over $500 million apiece at the box office, the third installment is far from a sure bet at this point given the...

From master criminals like Professor Moriarty to Sebastian Moran, Sherlock Holmes faced his fair share of danger – but his greatest nemesis may have been the man who created him, Arthur Conan Doyle. Exasperated by his brainchild’s overwhelming popularity, the weary scribe groused, ”I think of slaying Holmes… and winding him up for good and all. He takes my mind from better things.”
Doyle tried to kill off his cash-cow on at least one occasion but the great detective had the last word, maintaining a firm grip on our imagination decades after other seemingly invincible literary characters dropped down the memory hole – perhaps because Holmes is far more mysterious than any mystery he himself might have...
