There are several ways to soundtrack a journey back from hell. On a Wednesday afternoon in late November, Jorge Pabón lifts himself out of his wheelchair, props himself up, and scrolls through his iTunes until the right song hits him. “Órale!” he exclaims, as the chugging guitar riffs of “Disposable Heroes,” Metallica’s adrenaline-pumping war epic, fill his own personal purgatory: the unassuming physical therapy gym inside New Franklin Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Queens, New York. He clasps his hands on the arm bike and propels bicycle pedals with his hands.

Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” is one of the most influential classic rock songs ever. In addition, members of Bauhaus compared the track to a famous Led Zeppelin song. The comparison is a little off for one very specific reason.
Bauhaus said ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ was like a 1980s version of 1 Led Zeppelin song
During a 2019 interview with Uncut, Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy compared “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” to one of the all-time classic rock songs. “‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ just happened to be a seminal song,” he said. “It was the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ of the 1980s.”
Fellow Bauhaus member Kevin Haskins agreed with this assessment. “It definitely has a timeless quality,” he opined. “On reflection, I marvel at what we did. We were just four young kids who wanted to make something unique, without really having much idea what we were doing. But that song came out of it.

Did you know that James Cameron originally envisioned Lance Henriksen for the main role of the T-800 in 1984’s The Terminator? The now-iconic role of course ended up being played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the classic film, while Henriksen ended up playing the character Hal Vukovich. But what if Henriksen had been cast in the role of The Terminator?
Artist Peter Murphy has gone ahead and done the work necessary to imagine such an alternate timeline, whipping up an incredible sculpture of Lance Henriksen as the T-800!
The bust is based on early concept art painted by James Cameron himself, and it depicts a heavily battle-damaged version of the Lance Henriksen Terminator we never saw.
Murphy writes on Facebook, “Here are some pictures I took today of my Csm-100 or Lance Henriksen Terminator. I had always liked James Cameron’s original envisioning of Lance Henriksen playing the Terminator. I figured...

The 2023 installment of the “Celebrating David Bowie” tour has been rescheduled after vocalist Peter Murphy underwent an “an unexpected medical procedure.”
An announcement on Murphy’s Instagram confirmed that the Bauhaus frontman’s recent unspecified procedure “prohibits his ability to travel as planned” but “he is recovering well, will fully recover, and be ready to tour the US with the group this Fall.” The post also listed several “initial” dates that had been moved to October and November, while also noting that all tickets purchased for the previously announced shows will be honored at their new corresponding date.
The revised run now kicks off in Tacoma, Washington on October 10th and concludes in Cincinnati on November 22nd. The updated itinerary also suggests the singer will be returning even stronger with more cities, including Chicago, added to the ensemble’s tour stops. Check out the full live stretch below.

Last month we offered you a taste of the new album from “Helsinki Vampires” The 69 Eyes, in the form of a darkly sensual music video for the single “Red,” which featured a welcome introduction from none other then Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (check it out here). Everybody else is gone, nobody does it better & someone's got to do it.” In a weird way, he's absolutely right: like the Dark Knight himself, the band's own brand of smoldering, romantic gothic rock is cloaked in mystery, sometimes brutal, always classy, and more than a little crazy (in a good way,...

James Wan, director of Insidious, jumped to the chance to tell my recording device that “Trojan War is one of my favorite teen romantic comedies, next to Can’t Hardly Wait.” Hold on, am I talking to a comedic duo, or the two guys who came up with the “Razor Wire Maze Trap” in the first Saw movie?

Bela Lugosi might be dead and Bauhaus might be gone, but the cinematic vampire world continues to thrive, and another old-school icon is about to get into the blood-sucking movie business. According to Badass Digest sources, Trent Reznor -- a recent Academy Award winner for 'The Social Network' -- is not only going to score but also act in Timur Bekmambetov's upcoming film adaptation 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.'
The old Nin front-man won't be playing Honest Abe; that role's gone to Benjamin Walker. Instead, much like Murphy's stint in 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,' Reznor will play a vampire with a pretty important role in history ...

Welcome to Framed, a column at Cinematical that runs every Thursday and celebrates the artistry of cinema -- one frame at a time.
Tony Scott had established his career as a commercial director before making his feature film debut with 1983's 'The Hunger.' The opulent and undoubtedly '80s-styled tale about a 2,000-year-old vampire trying to save her rapidly aging lover was critically panned across the board for being a bombastic effort, " ... circling around an exquisitely effective sex scene." Sunglasses at night, billowing curtains, fog machines and neon-dream lighting populate throughout -- paired with fast cuts and mysterious flashbacks. Though the 'The Hunger's' theatrical success wasn't in the cards, the movie found new life on video and stands true as one of the most stylish and effective modern vampire stories to ever hit the big screen.

Today you may have heard worrying news about Curtis Jackson, also knows as rapper 50 Cent, making a cameo appearance in final Twilight Saga movie Breaking Dawn. Fear not, fans — Jackson quickly dismissed any talk of a cameo, confirming he hasn't been approached about any kind of role in the vampire franchise.
Seriously, Twilighters, does he seem a good fit for the series? Although cameos have occurred — saga author Stephenie Meyer appeared in Twilight and British musician Peter Murphy played a vampire in Eclipse — we think inviting 50 Cent to make his mark on the movie would be one step too far. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments.

With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, there were quite a few small parts in the film that went to noteworthy actors. The part of "Maria" went to the Oscar-nominated Catalina Sandino Moreno, Kirsten Prout had one line in the film as "Lucy," and Peter Murphy of Bauhaus even helmed a tiny role for Eclipse.
With Jack Huston - who's been in Eastwick and films like Factory Girl before but whose career is definitely on the rising end of the hyperbola - he became "Royce King" for the picture, and Details Magazine has an interview with him where he explains exactly how that happened.
"I auditioned for another part—a newborn vampire—and kind of shocked the producers. I acted like a junkie. I hadn’t slept the night before and had drunk lots of coffee. Everyone was like, 'Um, a little too ed ...

If you've already seen The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, you might recognize this face. It's Peter Murphy (rock star from Bauhaus), and he portrayed the vampire that started the Quileute wolf transformations (as part of the legend backstory).
It was announced that Murphy would make a cameo in the film last year when Billy Burke revealed the plans to Access Hollywood.
A few weeks ago, Murphy issued a photograph of himself in costume for the character, and now that we've seen the movie, we know that his appearance was short but important to the flow of the story.

Set to hit theaters around the globe at the stroke of midnight, "Twilight" mania has taken over the movie world.
With the third installment of the hit vampire series opening in a record number of theaters - 4,416 screens - there's definitely the expectation of Huge earnings for the Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner led film.
Stirring up a little relationship talk prior to the release, producer Wyck Godfrey recently spoke with Time magazine of the Kristen/Robert off-screen chatter.
Of the real-life romance, Godfrey tells, "I honestly don’t think of it in terms of business. It doesn’t affect our core business at all. The thing I do think about is, Oh my God, I hope they stay together. Because it could be awkward on set in the next movie if they have a huge falling out. It’s like, Wow, they have to portray this love story through two more movies.

Bela Lugosi might be dead, but Peter Murphy is immortal. At least, in his new film role, he is. The former Bauhaus frontman recently shared a pic of himself in costume for his cameo in the Twilight sequel Eclipse, in which he plays a character simply known as "The Cold One." Murphy shared of the experience, “Who else could have and should have done it?. It was really lovely and smart of (director) David Slade to ask me…I was honored, actually.” Who wouldn't be? Let us know in the comments section: On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you for Eclipse's...

From MTV.Com: When "30 Days of Night" filmmaker David Slade took the reins of the "Twilight" sequel "Eclipse," his appointment seemed to raise more questions than answers. Would the über-violent filmmaker create the bloodiest film of the franchise? Would he attempt to broaden its appeal beyond women and teenage girls? How much of the creative voice would he wrestle away from Stephenie Meyer and make his own?
Now, many of those details are coming into view via a top-secret cameo Slade has filmed ... with a 1980s new-wave rock icon.
"[When I was young], I was a huge fan of a guy who does a cameo in 'Eclipse,' a guy named Peter Murphy," revealed Billy Burke, the veteran actor who plays Bella's father, Charlie Swan, when he stopped by the MTV studios this week. "He used to be the singer of Bauhaus."

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros. is developing a remake of Tony Scott’s 1983 vampire favorite, The Hunger. No other details have been reported at this time, but you can add this news to my list of things that I find Completely Horrifying! I feel the same way about this remake as I do about Suspiria. Aside from being impossible to recreate the glossy visual splendor of this film (yes, I just said visual splendor), few films have as fantastic of an opening as The Hunger. Bauhaus’s performance of Bela Lugosi’s Dead is classic, with a gaunt Peter Murphy [...]Post from: Screamstress...
