A bit of a rant, Stephen Murphy’s video essay “Capturing the Moment: In Search of Adequate Images” springboards off a diatribe against the epidemic of smartphones at concerts to riff off of Werner Herzog’s long-ago warning that we as a society need to find adequate images. What are these adequate images, and how do we define them? Murphy has some thoughts, and some high praise for A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night as well.

Power hose brand Gerni has launched a campaign to encourage Australians to get in touch with their ‘inner weekend warrior’.
The campaign is the first work from Mjw since the agency won the business in April.
As well as TV, the campaign will run on digital, print and point of sale.
National sales and marketing manager Stephen Murphy said: “Growth in the domestic high pressure water cleaning category in the last few years has been propelled by the growth of the Diy market, providing a platform for the brand to re-invent itself.”

The director of Britain's film censorship body reveals all about the thinking underpinning its controversial decisions
When it was first set up in 1912, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) – or Film Censors, as it was known then – concerned itself with the "unnecessary exhibition of under-clothing" or "scenes calculated to afford information to the enemy". Now, as it heads towards its centenary, it finds itself more likely to be fending off Hollywood studios attempting to shoehorn too much violence into films aimed at 12-year-olds.
"The classic borderline is between a 12A and a 15," says BBFC director David Cooke. "The lower one is better, commercially, but they are also trying to push the boundaries at that level. So we often find ourselves not doing what they want. In roughly 10% of cases we give them a higher classification. "
To cut or not to cut: that has been the issue that has faced...

BBC Bristol’s Timeshift Dear Censor: The Secret Archive of the BBFC lifts the lid on the world of cinema censorship, this programme has been given unique access to the files of the British Board of Film Classification.
Featuring explicit and detailed exchanges between the censor and film-makers, 'Dear Censor' casts a wry eye over some of the most infamous cases in the history of the board.
From the now seemingly innocuous Rebel Without a Cause, the first 'naturist' films and the infamous works of Ken Russell, and up to Rambo III, this frank and surprisingly warm documentary demonstrates how a body created by the industry to safeguard...

If you read the site you have likely seen us reporting on a cool short film called Mrs. Peppercorn's Magical Reading Room. We have posted the trailer and posters for the film. I had the chance to interview Mike Le Han the writer and director of the short. Keep reading to learn about Le Han's transition from being a session musician in the early 90's to being the successful writer and director he is today. What made you decide to make the transition from music to film? Way back in the early 90’s after leaving school I jumped right into music, no qualifications, just pure determination. Music was a form of creativity that allowed me to express myself. Shortly after I realised that playing live performances wasn’t for me, I’m not interested in being famous I was more interested in the creative aspect of music, so moved over...

The next movie project about the four pizza-loving ninja turtles, "Untitled New Tmnt Project", is going to be different than its previous installments. While confirming that there will be another "Tmnt" movie, the co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" revealed that the new film will be made into neither a live-action nor a CGI, instead it will be designed as a "hybrid".
To MTV's Splash Page, the owner of "Tmnt" stated, "As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin. We have pretty much decided that the next 'Tmnt' movie should be what we've been calling a 'hybrid' - that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters)."

Despite Kevin Eastman's previous confirmation on the making of brand new live-action movie about the four ninja turtles, "Untitled New Tmnt Project", recent report has suggested that the news holds no truth in it. Writing a response to Eastman's remark, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writer Stephen Murphy wrote in his blog, The 5th Turtle, that it is "complete nonsense and entirely untrue".
Prior to this reaction, Murphy has also squashed Playmates Toys' claim about the same matter which led to Playmates to change their statement writing, "Following the success of the Tmnt theatrical release in 2007, Mirage Licensing is in negotiation with several companies about a new Tmnt movie for release in 2010." Commenting on the revised words, he further stated that he "can wholeheartedly confirm" the statement, but still noted that the new film is most likely to be coming out in 2011.

IGN has culled news from various sources, trying to get to the bottom of new rumors about another live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The bottom line: It ain't happenin'. At least not in this incarnation.
Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman made the claims earlier this week on his Heavy Metal forum, but Tmnt writer Stephen Murphy calls them "complete nonsense and entirely untrue." So while a sequel may happen in a couple of years - emphasis on may - but it will be animated, I guess.
Of course, anyone who saw the animated movie last year was probably a little let down; the trailer was infinitely better. So a live action film seemed to be the most logical conclusion. Try telling that to Stephen Murphy.
