For the first time in almost 15 years, The Lost Boys are back in The Lost Boys: A New Musical, an official stage adaptation of the classic 1980s movie that’s headed our way soon.

Patrick Wilson is no stranger to the horror genre, having starred in the likes of three Conjuring movies and three Insidious movies (one of which he directed), among other things – but I never would have predicted that his name would be attached to a stage musical adaptation of Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys (watch it Here). Especially not as a producer. But producing a The Lost Boys stage musical is exactly what Wilson is doing, according to Deadline.
Wilson and fellow producers James Carpinello and Marcus Chait are teaming up with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writer/executive producer David Hornsby, Parade director Michael Arden, and the pop rock band The Rescues to make this stage musical happen, through a special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures. Hornsby will be writing the book with Broadway actor Chris Hoch, while The Rescues provide the music and Ethan Popp...

New small screen and big screen takes on 1980s classic The Lost Boys have failed to materialize in recent years, but Deadline reports that an official musical is now in the works.
Actors Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Insidious), James Carpinello (Midway) and Marcus Chait (Million Dollar Baby) are on board to produce The Lost Boys musical.
Deadline reports, “In addition to Michael Arden (Parade), The Lost Boys will feature a creative team that includes book writers David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Chris Hoch; and music by The Rescues, with Ethan Popp (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) serving as Music Supervisor.”
The site also notes that the upcoming musical “will be produced by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.” Stay tuned for more as we learn it.

Singer and Lost Boys star Corey Feldman opened up about his new life as a rock star and performing for large crowds in his new uInterview.
Feldman explained to uInterview founder Erik Meers about how he is finishing up his Love ReTours tours this month, which began last year.
“It was a great successful tour, we kept adding legs because it was successful, and it kind of kept growing in its success and its numbers and whatever,” Feldman said. “We just kept kind of getting bigger and better venues and, you know, kind of building as we went.”
He recalled how he was shocked at how big of an audience had gathered for his performance at Riot Fest in Chicago recently.
“I’ve done shows bigger than that with my band Truth Movement,” he said. “We did a show on the Santa Cruz boardwalk one year where I was told they had 60,000 people.

Waking Nightmare begins appropriately enough with Jordan waking up screaming from a nightmare. This has been a regular occurrence since her best friend Jamie killed herself. It’s gotten bad enough that she’s moved back home with her parents Danielle and Jeff.
A visit from her best friend Zoey seems to cheer her up, but that night her nightmares turn into sleepwalking, and while doing that she pulls a knife on her mother. This gets her an appointment with Dr. Doolin who gives her a prescription for Ambien.
The Ambien doesn’t make her start posting racist comments on Twitter, but it doesn’t stop her sleepwalking either. In fact, she ends up walking out of the house...

“Rabbit Hole” stars Kiefer Sutherland as a corporate espionage consultant who must go on the run after being framed for murder by a shadowy but powerful group, a character that is used to being on the receiving end of punches, quite unlike the character he’s best known for on “24.”
The Paramount+ series pairs Sutherland with “Crazy, Stupid Love,” “This is Us” and “WeCrashed” writer-directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra. When they pitched him on a series that’s a throwback to ’70s conspiracy thrillers “Three Days of the Condor” and “Marathon Man” and “The Parallax View,” he was fully on board. “I’m so lucky that they called me first,” Sutherland told TheWrap ahead of the series premiere on March 26.
“24” fans will be pleased to see the actor back in thriller territory, but his “Rabbit Hole” character John Weir is very different from Jack Bauer. For one thing, it...

The '80s was a pretty great time to be an undead bloodsucker. Writers and directors were clearly enjoying themselves playing with the old tropes; Tony Scott's "The Hunger" dispensed with fangs altogether and toyed with the idea of vampire immortality before turning into softcore erotica; Nicolas Cage lost the plot and munched live cockroaches in "Vampire's Kiss;" Kathryn Bigelow brought a Western theme to her mean and moody "Near Dark;" and "Lifeforce" even gave us vampires from outer space. To top it all off, Count Dracula teamed up with other classic Universal monsters like the Wolf Man and the Mummy in "The Monster Squad." These movies left behind the spooky castles and misty graveyards of Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee's iconic iterations of Bram Stoker's most famous creation, bringing the vampire myth right into the modern world.

Joel Schumacher was an immensely talented filmmaker whose slick visual style earned him loads of high-profile assignments during the 1980s and '90s. He could deliver the sensuous perfume commercial aesthetic of A-listers like Alan Parker, Ridley Scott, and Adrian Lyne sans the auteurist demand for total creative control. He possessed the crowd-pleasing instincts of Tony Scott. He worked with the biggest movie stars of the day: Julia Roberts, Michael Douglas, Jim Carrey, Matthew McConaughey, and Mr. T. He discovered Colin Farrell with 2000's "Tigerland." He both saved and killed the "Batman" franchise.
That Schumacher had any kind of career is something of a miracle. He survived a wild youth that included a near-fatal meth addiction, and by his own admission, thousands of sexual partners as the 1980s AIDS epidemic took hold. This experience gave him valuable insight as he landed major studio assignments packed with volatile young talent. On "St. Elmo's Fire,...

“Good night, bloodsucker!” This year, Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys is marking its 35th anniversary. In a new interview to commemorate the occasion, Entertainment Weekly gathered Alex Winter (vampire Marko) and the vampire-slayin’ Frog Brothers, Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander, who all reminisced fondly on behind-the-scenes tales and the movie’s cultural context and, yes, the sax player.
Considering when the movie came out, it may be no surprise there was quite a bit of partying. As Winter noted that “things got really dark in the late ‘80s”, saying, “The party overstayed its welcome, basically. [But during] Lost Boys everything was still firing on all cylinders and it was a fucking madhouse.” Feldman blamed the older cast members, which says something considering Feldman has been open about his drug use.

In 1987, no one who made “The Lost Boys” thought they’d still be talking about it — and holding an entire “Summer of Santa Carla” convention to celebrate it — 35 years later.
“None of us were that cocky when we were making it, just to be really clear. Including [director Joel Schumacher]. None of us thought, ‘We’re making something that’s going to have an impact on culture,’ or anything like that,” said Alex Winter, who played the mulleted Marko, one of the rock ‘n’ roll vampires in charismatic bloodsucker David (Kiefer Sutherland)’s crew.
The film was originally going to be directed by Richard Donner, whose kids’ classic “The Goonies” was also destined for cult status. Corey Feldman stars in both, and his vamp-hunting Edgar Frog brought the same goofy vibe to the far more bloody, R-rated horror movie.

“Actually, I’m looking for a Batman #14.”
In the vampire-killing continuity of The Lost Boys, that intriguing humble-brag by Corey Haim’s Sam Emerson could very well be the definitive way to declare yourself amongst the elite of geekdom. Yet, while the 1987 film—notably from future Batman film franchise director Joel Schumacher—was rife with riffs directed at the hitherto untapped masses of comic book fandom, this shout-out to a Golden Age issue would, indeed, make it “a very serious book, man,” as Corey Feldman’s Edgar Frog famously replied. Moreover, the reference would pay emotional dividends in a made-for-video sequel.

“One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach … All the damn vampires.”
-Grandpa (Barnard Hughes), The Lost Boys
I respectfully disagree with Grandpa’s sentiment. My favorite part about watching the faux coastal fantasia of Santa Carla is all the damn vampires. Despite being very much a time capsule capturing a certain place and cultural moment, The Lost Boys is simultaneously, a bit paradoxically, as immortal as its titular teenage vampires when it comes to being a genre staple. The 1987 horror comedy was helmed by the late great Joel Schumacher, who passed away on June 22nd. It is being celebrated today ahead of its return to Southern California theaters this Thursday at the Mission Tiki Drive-In, on a double bill with that other terrific ’80s vampire horror comedy, Fright Night (1985). It’s hard to articulate just how special and singular The Lost Boys is, but I have to try.

Matt Steele penned the script and stars as Ricky Redmond, a self-proclaimed “Broadway Legend” who is forced to share the spotlight with the school’s star athlete (Brundidge) in the high school musical. Veteran and beloved filmmaker Joel Schumacher has died at the age of 80 after a year-long battle with cancer.
Having started out his career as a costume designer, Schumacher soon saw his love of film take him in a new direction landing up in the director’s chair. He rose to fame after directing three hit films that wrapped up the 80s’ in a nutshell with 1985s’ ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ which starred Brat packers, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez alongside Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Mare Winningham. It centres on a clique of recent graduates of Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown University, and their adjustment to post-university life and the responsibilities of adulthood.

Jami Gertz has had an interesting career really and a lot of people might think that it started with her role in The Lost Boys, which is still a cult classic to this day despite the two less than memorable sequels it was followed by. Thankfully the only ones that stuck around for those were Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander, aka the Frog brothers. Gertz had a one and done relationship with the movie but while this was the one that rocketed her to stardom, it wasn’t her first time on screen since she’d already had parts in Endless Love,

Charlie Sheen is once again denying an accusation that he raped Corey Haim back in 1986 — a claim repeated by Corey Feldman Monday night at the premiere of Feldman’s new documentary “(My) Truth: The Rape of Two Coreys.”
“These sick, twisted and outlandish allegations never occurred. Period,” Sheen’s spokesperson said Tuesday. “I would urge everyone to consider the source and read what his mother Judy Haim has to say.”
In emails sent last month to Sheen’s publicist from the late Corey Haim’s mother and obtained by TheWrap, Judy Haim wrote, “I feel that this is a huge accusation without any proof and without my kid being here to defend himself.” Corey Haim, a teen star who appeared in many movies with Feldman in the late 1980s and early ’90s, died of pneumonia on March 10, 2010, at age 38.

The CW’s in-development Lost Boys series is being retooled after a disappointing pilot. This may be good news for Corey Feldman, though, who wants a Frog Brothers reunion with Jamison Newlander.
Commenting on Twitter, Feldman had this to say about the proposed new pilot:
“Hmmmmm… Jamison Newlander R U thinkin’ what I’m thinkin’?
The original pitch for The CW series was to make the Frog Brothers the Frog Sisters, with Sarah Hay, Cheyenne Haynes and Haley Tju cast in the roles. An apparently poor response from the network to the Catherine Hardwicke-helmed pilot though means that this idea may now have been scrapped. Some of the original pilot cast, including Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro, will be kept on board, however.
Although the exact casting may be up in the air at the moment, we think the series will mostly stick to being a reboot of the original movie,...

"Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire." Earlier this year, it was reported that The CW ordered a pilot episode for a potential The Lost Boys series based on the 1987 horror movie of the same name, and now the roles of Sam Emerson and his grandpa have been cast.
Deadline reports that Rio Mangini (pictured above in Everything Sucks!) will play Sam in The Lost Boys pilot episode, with Del Zamora on board to play Sam's grandfather, Frank Garcia.
In 1987's The Lost Boys, Sam was played by the late Corey Haim, while Grandpa was portrayed by the late Barnard Hughes.
According to Deadline, in the pilot episode, Sam's "high level of literacy is matched by an equally high level of snark. He seems to be the only one not enchanted by Santa Carla — a sentiment he shares with a pair of local girls,...

We’ve got some interesting news today for The CW reboot series, The Lost Boys. A few new cast members have been announced that include Sarah Hay as Mollie, with Cheyenne Haynes (Camping) and Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs) as the Frog sisters. Yes, they changed the beloved Frog brother characters (played by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander in the original) to female characters, because nothing is sacred.
I’ve pretty much come to terms with the fact that this reboot series is going to be nothing like the original movie, because although the story was cheesy, the actors in the movie were really good, and it was an original idea, so you were excited by the story. It just doesn’t really need a regurgitation, in my opinion. But I bet it will be popular because the WB draws in a large teenage audience, and vampires. Vampires help.

They won’t all be Lost Boys. We recently reported that CW’s The Lost Boys would gender-swap the Frog Brothers in their TV series; the characters, Edgar and Alan, were played by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander in the 1987 horror classic. Yesterday, Deadline announced the actresses who will be playing the Frog Sisters, along with […] The post Meet Liza & Cassie: “The Frog Sisters” in CW’s The Lost Boys appeared first on Dread Central.

The idea of a Lost Boys reboot has been floating around Hollywood for the better part of a decade, but it wasn’t until last month that The CW confirmed they’d be bringing back the horror franchise as a TV show for a new generation.
The project has been pitched as a seven-season, anthology-style series spanning from the 1960s to present day, spearheaded by Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) and Heather Mitchell (Grey’s Anatomy). At the time, it was unknown if the show would be set in the same continuity as the film series, but new details released today seem to establish that it’ll follow its own canon. And that’s because according to the latest episode of Collider’s The Witching Hour podcast, the television reboot will focus on the adventures of the Frog Sisters, a gender swapped version of the film series’ Frog Brothers.

"Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire." Back in 2016, it was reported that The CW was developing a TV series based on The Lost Boys, the beloved 1987 horror comedy about boardwalk bloodsuckers and young vampire hunters. While the news front on the project has been quiet over the past couple of years, it's now been revealed that The CW has ordered a pilot episode of the potential The Lost Boys series, in addition to pilot episodes for three other projects.
Deadline reports that The CW has ordered a Lost Boys pilot episode written by Heather Mitchell. Rob Thomas (iZombie and Veronica Mars) had previously been developing The Lost Boys series, and he'll serve as executive producer alongside Mitchell, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz, and Bill Bindley, with Rebecca Franko on board as a producer.

“Kill your brother. You’ll feel better.” Such is the self-assured advice of Mr. Alan Frog (Jamison Newlander), one-half of the Frog Brothers, the Santa Carla vampire-killing duo from Joel Schumacher’s 1987 glampire flick, The Lost Boys. He is addressing Sam (Corey Haim), the new kid in town who has noticed his brother Michael (Jason Patric) suffering some very strange symptoms, including staying up late at night, showing a translucent reflection, and having the ability to uncontrollably float past Sam’s room.
Equipped with little more than two fingers slapped together in a makeshift crucifix, Sam is clearly in over his head. Thankfully, the Frog Brothers are more than happy to impart on Sam their collective wisdom on vampires, which you might also know as night crawlers, bloodsuckers, or even el vampiro. Their overzealous need to share this knowledge would be right at home in a horror convention, because at their core,...

The Lost Boys TV reboot lives again with The CW announcing that it has officially ordered a pilot for the show.
The Lost Boys TV series has been ruminating at The CW since 2016. Now the network has confirmed that it has officially ordered a pilot of the reboot of the popular '80s vampire film. Not too shabby for a group of long undead vampires.
Rob Thomas, who created Veronica Mars and iZombie, was originally set to be the showrunner, writer and executive producer through his Spondoolie Productions, along with Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz and Bill Bindley. Thomas remains on the project as an executive producer but he also has a busy dance card with the Veronica Mars revival set to debut this year on Hulu. Deadline broke the news about The Lost Boys TV series, which is being developed and written by Rob Thomas (iZombie, Veronica Mars) at The CW in conjunction with Gulfstream TV and Warner Bros Television.
According to Deadline, the series is being planned by Thomas as a massive seven-season story that would follow an immortal group of vampires (the Lost Boys) as they live through the triumphs and tribulations of each decade. With shows like The Walking Dead and American Horror Story scooping up high ratings and accolades like they’re going out of style, there’s no doubt that horror is dominating TV right now. It’s even becoming a big time trend to turn popular horror movies into their own series’, with spin-offs of Psycho and Silence of the Lambs already moving into their second seasons and others based on The Shining, Scream, The Exorcist and From Dusk Till Dawn currently in the works.
That said, the road to success hasn’t always been an easy one, when it comes to TV adaptations of beloved horror flicks. Over the years we’ve seen many of them come and go, either failing to catch on with audiences the way shows like Bates Motel and Hannibal have or even failing to ever find their way in front of the cameras.

The Academy Awards have to attract young viewers to remain the biggest awards show. That's why they expanded the Best Picture category to 10 nominees, allowing more populist films to be included.
They've also started a huge social networking push, announcing recently that the ceremony will be streaming live online, and named the unlikely young duo of Anne Hathaway and James Franco as co-hosts.
This is all costing the Academy a pretty penny, during a time when movie ticket sales are down. However, all they really need to attract younger viewers is "The Twilight Saga."
I am not suggesting that the prestigious awards show should tarnish its reputation by including "Twilight" nominees in undeserved categories. Most reasonable Twi-Hards are willing to admit Robert Pattinson's performance as Edward doesn't quite match up to Colin Firth in "The King's Speech" or James Franco in "127 Hours."
