Due out in UK cinemas next month, Sammy’s Great Escape (a.k.a. Sammy’s Adventures 2) brings us the follow-up to 2010 original animated film, A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures.
With just under a month to go before the film arrives on our shores (no pun intended), StudioCanal have released a new UK trailer, giving us a good look at the upcoming sequel.
“Sammy and Ray, leatherback turtles and friends forever, are enjoying an atoll’s water and sand, shepherding new hatchlings Ricky and Ella out to sea. Suddenly, a poacher swoops in and ships them off to be part of a spectacular aquarium show for tourists in Dubai. The kingpin of the place, Big D the seahorse, enlists them in his plans for a great escape. But with their new friends Jimbo the bug-eyed blob fish, Lulu the snippy lobster and a whole family of penguins, Sammy...

The players: Director: Ben Stassen, Writer: Domonic Paris, Cast (Voices): Christopher Lloyd, Robert Patrick, Nicollette Sheridan, Tim Curry
Facts of interest: First ever animated movie created exclusively for 3-D.
The plot: Three flies sneak onto Apollo 11 to accompany the astronauts to the moon.
Our quick thoughts: When you promote a film as the first ever animated movie created for 3-D, you should at least assume people will go to the theater with high expectations. Well, if you’re still planning to see Ben Stassen’s “Fly Me to the Moon,” don’t get too excited quite yet.

Summit Entertainment has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Fly Me to the Moon, a computer-animated feature being produced for stereoscopic 3-D theatrical release by nWave in association with Illuminata Pictures.
Featuring the voice cast of Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry, Kelly Ripa, Nicollette Sheridan, Adrienne Barbeau and Robert Patrick, Moon is scheduled to open Feb. 15 domestically in 3-D in Imax theaters, as well as in 3-D-ready digital-cinema venues using 3-D technologies from such companies as Real D, Dolby 3D and Nuvision.
Industry estimates suggest there will be about 1,000 3-D-ready digital-cinema screens in the U.S. by year's end.
"As opportunities come into the marketplace for consumers to have an enhanced moviegoing experience, Summit plans to be able to offer productions that fit these formats," Summit president of domestic distribution Richard Fay said.
Directed by Ben Stassen and penned by Domonic Paris, Moon is being created in 3-D, as opposed to being converted to the format. The story follows three tween-aged flies that stow away aboard the Apollo 11 flight to the moon.
