- Started making movies with his brother Emile in 1894, after purchasing his first film camera at a fair. It was an Edison machine.
- Was originally a phonograph importer before deciding to build his own film studio.

- Singapore was to be the eighteenth overseas branch for his company (August 1907). With locations in Moscow, New York and Brussels opening during 1904, then came, in 1905, Berlin, Vienna and St. Petersburg. By 1906, branches in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Milan, Odessa and London were opened. 1907 also had Rostov, Kiev, Budapest, Calcutta and Warsaw to his credit.

- One of the locations of Edmond Benoît-Lévy's and Charles Pathé's Omnia cinemas was 5 boulevard Montmartre, Paris.
- Along with Edmond Benoît-Lévy, Charles Pathé founded the cinema chain Omnia in 1908.
- Founder and President of Compagnie Genérale des Établissements Pathé Frères Phonographes & Cinématographes (aka Pathé Frères), a film production/distribution company, in France. Its American arm was Pathé Exchange Inc., its German arm was Pathé, its Swedish arm was also called Pathé (later bought by Hasselblad to form Skandia).
- With his brothers, founded the Pathe Freres Company in 1897, initially selling raw film and cinematographic equipment, then, from 1902, branching out into film production at their Vincennes studio. By 1908, Pathe was the world's biggest motion picture producer and manufacturer. In 1917, the company went into decline due to increasing competition from Hollywood in both local and overseas markets. Pathe retired in 1929 and his empire folded five years later.
