The 75th Primetime Emmys was a somewhat predictable affair, with "Succession," "The Bear" and "Beef" winning nearly everything, but there was one creative choice that made it stand clearly above the Emmys of the past few years. The theme this time around was honoring the most beloved shows in TV history, which made for a far more interesting transition between awards than the usual random comedy schticks.
This year included the reunion of Jon Cryer and Holland Taylor from "Two and a Half Men," a speech from Arsenio Hall of "The Arsenio Hall Show," and another speech by Carol Burnett from "The Carol Burnett Show." We got an extended homage to "The Twilight Zone," as well as references to "Taxi," "Dynasty," and "Mad Men." There were also cast reunions for ongoing shows like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Considering how long they've been going on and the impact...

Ally McBeal, Grey’s Anatomy, Cheers, Martin and The Sopranos were among the beloved television shows celebrated with cast reunions at the 2023 Emmys ceremony.
In honor of the Primetime Emmy Awards marking its 75th anniversary, castmembers from a number of notable series reunited to present awards at the ceremony that was held Monday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. This included re-created sets for many of the celebrated shows.
Among the moments gathering buzz was a reunion for Ally McBeal stars Calista Flockhart, Greg Germann, Peter MacNicol, and Gil Bellows. The performers emerged from the show’s bathroom set to dance to “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything” by Barry White.
Also notable was Grey’s Anatomy gathering current and former stars Ellen Pompeo, James Pickens Jr. and Chandra Wilson with Katherine Heigl and Justin Chambers. “Yes, there have been some changes over the years, but the one...

The Emmys honored several different shows throughout its broadcast, but one stirred up quite a few questions as the cast of Martin reunited to celebrate the show’s legacy and present the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Sitting in a recreation of their set, Maritn Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, and Carl Anthony Payne II, who starred as Martin, Gina, Pam, and Cole in the comedy that aired from 1992 to 1997, got into the spirit of the awards with a silly bit. “We finally about to get an Emmy!” Payne II rejoiced as the stars sat around the set recreation. “Yeah, we gettin’ our Emmy tonight. As a matter of fact, I’ve got my speech on deck too, all ready to go,” he added, pulling a paper out of his pocket. But Campbell and Arnold were quick to clear things up. “Carl, we’re not winning an Emmy tonight,...

On the Emmys red carpet tonight a couple of Martin castmembers teased something big to come, and they weren’t kidding.
About 40 minutes into the broadcast, Fox – which aired the sitcom and tonight’s Emmys – brought in stars Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold and Carl Anthony Payne II to present.
But first, the foursome did a bit that had Payne pretending he thought they were there to accept an Emmy, not present one. After the other cast members corrected him, Campbell said what many were thinking.
“Carl is not all the way wrong, you guys. I mean, we should have won an Emmy during our run,” she observed to big applause from the audience.
Lawrence then stepped forward to present the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Jeremy Allen White.

You may have heard that the 75th edition of the Emmy Awards is finally happening on Monday, capping a nearly four-month delay resulting from the twin WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. I think “Gunsmoke” and “The Andy Griffith Show” were still all the rage when this process began, JFK was President and a loaf of bread was a quarter. Alas, I exaggerate (though just a bit). But for this and no doubt other reasons, the TV Academy is clearly in a nostalgic mood, slating mini-reunions and tributes to and/or visual recreations of a dozen shows to mark the occasion.
The idea, according to the Emmy producers, is to honor television throughout the decades of its existence, from the 1950s (“I Love Lucy”), to the 1960s (“The Carol Burnett Show”), the 1970s (“All in the Family”), the 1980s (“Cheers”) and the 1990s (“Ally McBeal” and “Martin”) through the early 2000s.

The Television Academy has announced the full list of performers and presenters who will appear at the upcoming 75th Emmy Awards.
The show, which was originally supposed to air in 2023, will now take place on Monday night (January 15) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The ceremony is going to air on Fox and will be broadcast live coast-to-coast. It will be available on Hulu the next day.
The executive producers of the show have teased that there will be “show-stopping cast reunions and tributes to hit television series spanning seven-plus decades.”
Host Anthony Anderson also revealed his unconventional plan for keeping things moving on Emmy night. Instead of the traditional play-off music to wrap up long speeches, for the first time in Emmy history, his mother, Doris Bowman aka Mama Doris, will act as the “enforcer” to ensure a swift pace of the telecast.

Issa Rae’s label Raedio and HBO have partnered with podcast producer Tenderfoot TV for Looking for Latoya, a one-episode scripted podcast special based on the in-universe true crime series of the same name from Rae’s HBO show Insecure.
Looking for Latoya follows the story of Latoya Thompson, portrayed Sza, a young woman whose mysterious disappearance is investigated throughout the show. Riffing on other true crime podcasts like Serial, the satirical special offers commentary on the lack of true crime shows that investigate missing black women versus their white counterparts.
