Beloved daytime drama “Days of Our Lives” is expanding its world once again with an upcoming limited series entitled “Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.”
Five episodes of this new series has been ordered by streamer Peacock, and they will feature the return of Lisa Rinna in the role of Billie Reed.
The episodes will take place over a long weekend during which a number of key characters leave their Salem hometown for adventures: John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) travel to Zurich, while Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara (Victoria Konefal) take a romantic trip to New Orleans, Chad (Billy Flynn) visits Phoenix, and Abe (James Reynolds), Paulina (Jackée Harry), Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli (Lamon Archey) vacation in Miami.
However, these other parts of the world don’t prove to be any more relaxing than Salem itself, as all of these players become embroiled in a mystery that involves stolen jewels.

Jennifer Beals is Castle-bound.
The Chicago Code/L Word alumna has landed a two-episode guest spot on the ABC drama, playing Sophia, a “smart, commanding, and sexy” CIA agent helping Castle and Beckett search for a fellow operative who has gone rogue, TVGuide.com reports. Turns out, Sophia has a complicated past with the wily author, which, of course, causes tensions among the threesome. Beals’ episodes are slated to air in February.
Speaking of Castle, TV Guide Magazine has a first look here at the Jan. 9 I Dos of Kevin and Jenny, played by real-life spouses Seamus and Juliana Dever.

In a recent episode of We Love Soaps TV from late May, Daytime Emmy nominee Julie Pinson (and River Ridge star) talked about going dress shopping for the June 19 ceremony in Las Vegas. She received her third consecutive nomination this year (she won last year).
On Sunday, Pinson arrived at the 2011 Daytime Emmy awards in a Gilles Montezin printed silk satin gown.
Gilles Montezin received his professional training at l’Ecole de la Haute Couture in Paris. After completing his studies, he went to work at l’Opera Bastille where he perfected techniques for elaborate period costuming that contribute to his craft. At the same time, he worked for both Loris Azzaro and Christian Lacroix Haute Couture and remained at Maison Lacroix for eight years. During this period, Mr. Montezin completed designs for Madonna and actresses Catherine Zeta-Jones and Monica Bellucci.
In 2004, he moved to New York City to start his own company.

It’s Emmy time this Sunday, soap fans! Though the TV Academy also uses the annual ceremony (airing live on CBS at 8 p.m. Et) to honor game and talk shows, the real competition lies in the drama categories. Will James Franco’s much-ballyhooed appearance on General Hospital help the ABC soap take the top prize? Will the soon-to-canceled All My Children earn a sympathy trophy?

On episode 2.58 of We Love Soaps TV from the Love Out Loud VI fundraiser at Prohibition in New York City, Billy Warlock discusses his role in "The Normal Heart," the possibility of writing an autobiography someday, and shares his honest opinions on what daytime soaps could have done to save themselves.
We Love Soaps TV: What do you think needs to happen for the last four shows to remain viable and stay on the air? What, if anything, can they do from your perspective?
Billy Warlock: Nothing. And it's not their fault. Honestly, it could have been saved 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 years ago. It's all about money baby. Listen, it's simple. When you see shows getting rid of their mainstays to bring in $1,000 a day actors, that's your first sign of trouble. Tell stories with your core people. Get rid of everybody else. You want the four shows to remain? Get rid...

Axed U.S. soaps All My Children and One Life To Live are set to go out with a bang after scoring a combined total of 25 nominations for the 2011 Daytime Emmy Awards.
Earlier this year, ABC network bosses announced All My Children will come to an end in September after 41 years on air, while One Life To Live will also be scrapped following a 43-year run.
But the shows look set to dominate the 38th annual Daytime Emmys - All My Children, which has 13 nominations, is up for Outstanding Drama Series, competing against The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, while its stars Alicia Minshew, Debbi Morgan and Ricky Paull Goldin will all do battle in the Leading Drama Actor categories.
All My Children's Melissa Claire Egan will go up against One Life To Live actress Bree Williamson for Best Supporting Drama Actress title, alongside the likes of Julie Pinson (As The World Turns), Heather Tom (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Tricia Cast (The Young and the Restless), while Williamson's co-star Brian Kerwin will fight for Best Supporting Drama Actor, a category which includes Jonathan Jackson and Jason Thompson from General Hospital.
Medical drama series General Hospital leads the nominations with 21, while The Young and The Restless garnered 20 and children's show Sesame Street earned 16.
Comedienne-turned-talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is also set for a big night after taking 12 nods, including Outstanding Talk Show - pitting The Ellen DeGeneres Show against The View, Regis & Kelly and Rachael Ray.
DeGeneres' hit programme also gained recognition for direction, set design and make-up, although the star herself failed to land a nomination for Outstanding Talk Show Host - a title she has won four times before. Instead, The View's star-studded line-up - consisting of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Barbara Walters - will battle against the presenters of Regis & Kelly, Rachael Ray, The Doctors and Dr. Oz for the top TV category.
The nominees for the 2011 Daytime Emmy Awards, which celebrate the best in U.S. TV production, were announced early on Wednesday.
The winners will be unveiled at a ceremony in Las Vegas on 19 June. Actor/comedian Wayne Brady will host.

After 54 years on the air and 13,858 episodes, As the World Turns has ended.
The last installment aired this afternoon and was filled with closure. Doctor Bob Hughes (Don Hastings) retired from the hospital , Barbara (Colleen Zenk) dissolved her partnership with Paul (Roger Howarth), Casey (Billy Magnussen) left for law school, Chris (Daniel Cosgrove) proposed to Katie (Terri Colombino), Lucinda (Elizabeth Hubbard) and John (Larry Bryggman) got back together, and Janet (Julie Pinson) asked Jack (Michael Park) to be Lorenzo’s godfather.
It seemed like everyone's storyline was wrapped up in some way, except for Luke (Van Hansis). As fans are well aware, he lost Reid (Eric Sheffer Stevens) last week and yesterday, said goodbye to Noah (Jake Silbermann). The closest he got was to be able to use Reid's stethoscope to listen to Reid's heart, now pumping in Chris' body.

HollywoodNews.com: CBS may have cancelled the 54 year old soap, “As the World Turns,” but the show got the last laugh at the network’s expense tonight. It picked up three of the four major acting awards for Michael Park, Maura West and Julie Pinson in Best Actor, Best Actress, and Supporting Actress.
Even though CBS carried the Daytime Emmys, they still managed to kick dirt in “World Turns” direction. They ran a sad, minute long tribute to the show rather than focus attention on its cruel exit from TV. The acting awards will be a nice consolation to the cast and crew. But really: this Daytime Emmy show was an ad for Las Vegas. The soaps were an after thought.
If only Procter & Gamble, the main sponsor of “World Turns,” cared about the show.

Although it is facing cancellation after 53 years on TV, "As the World Turns" stole the spotlight at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards. On Sunday, June 27 at the Las Vegas Hilton, the soap opera, which airs each weekday on CBS and will end its run in September, has won trophies for three of its stars, Michael Park, Maura West and Julie Pinson.
Michael won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Maura nabbed the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Julie secured the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Upon accepting his award, tearful Michael in particular thanked his on-screen romance Maura and bid an emotional farewell to the show.

The 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards host Regis Philbin dedicated a few minutes to "As the World Turns". He invited the show's stars and real-life married couple Jon Hensley and Kelley Menighan to the stage to introduce a video tribute for the show that ends its 54 years run this Fall.
"Not only we fall in love with the show, we fell in love with each other," Kelley said. Her husband added, "And it's no wonder, since its debut in 1956, the show has been always about people who care about each other. About six generations of family who love, learn, change, grew and kept their world turning everyday."
Then a montage of the show, starting when it was black and white and ending with this year's run, was broadcast.
"As the World Turns" is nominated for 13 at this year's awards and has won one so far through Julie Pinson. CBS is airing the live telecast.

Wow. Talk about opposite opinions! When sizing up the Daytime Emmy race for supporting actress, our forums poster Christian "Prettygoodyear" Mero ranked Julie Pinson ("As the World Turns") first, while our forums moderator Matthew "Boidiva02" Cormier ranked her last! Instead, Boidiva02 believes Bree Williamson ("One Life to Live") is out front. Both of our gurus placed Tamara Braun ("One Life to Live") in second place. But, wait — let's get back to the odd Williamson-Pinson split. These pundit opinions are based upon careful evaluation of the sample video ("reels" or "tapes," they're sometimes called) that are viewed by Emmys judges. Boidiva02 pooh-poohs Pinson's entry as "so ordinary, so average that I don't know what prompted her to consider this an Emmy-worthy reel." However, Prettygoodyear cheers her performance in the video as "mature, well rounded" and "multilayered." First, let's consider Boidiva02's assessment of this heated diva divide. You can also read...
