We don't have a lot of info on this one, but following its premiere earlier this month at South Korea's Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival, some sales art and early details have landed in our inbox for Camera.
The Chinese language film, directed by James Leong and written by Leong and Ben Slater, comes our way from Fortissimo Films and producers Lynn Lee and Jacqueline Lui.
Camera stars Sean Li, Venus Wong, Calvin Poon, and Yuen Leung.
Synopsis:
Ming is a surveillance expert with an obsession - he wants to film everything he sees. It’s a compulsion born of a childhood accident, which left him blind in one eye. Following a design he believes his father left him, Ming builds a miniature camera, which he installs in his bad eye, restoring his sight and allowing him to record everything he sees.
He becomes the perfect surveillance device, but soon...

Gang war erupts on the crime-ridden streets of Kowloon when an assassination attempt on Triad boss Jimmy (Calvin Poon) shatters the peace. His wife Cheung Wah (Ada Choi) and the power behind the throne passes the leadership and the responsibility for protecting his territory to bodyguard Po (Shawn Yue). This proves to be a tricky ticket, as the other bosses all attempt to manipulate him and persuade him onto their side, in particular the vicious Blackie (Chapman To).

“Hi, Fidelity” writer director Calvin Poon returns with pan-Asian romantic comedy “Shadows of Love”, this time backed by acclaimed film maker Stanley Kwan (“Rouge”, “Centre Stage”) lending his talents as producer. The film features a high profile lead pairing in Kwon Sang Woo, one of Korea’s top stars, known for his roles in a variety of hit television series such as “Lady President” and “Cinderella Man”, as well as big screens outings “Pain” and “71 – Into the Fire”, and popular Chinese actress Cecilia Cheung (“Legendary Amazons”), continuing her career comeback. The Chinese production (Kwon’s first Chinese language outing) also boasts a supporting cast of up and coming Mainland and Taiwanese talents, including Singer Angela Chang (“10+10”), Jing Boran (“Love in Space”), Jing Tian (“The Warring States”) and male model Sphinx Ting, with all-time favourite Hong Kong character actor Richard Ng (“My Lucky Stars”) on hand in a small but very welcome appearance.

After the much anticipated preem for Don’t Go Breaking My Heart and Quattro Hong Kong 2, it was Yuen-Leung Poon's Hi, Fidelity’s turn to shine --- and without a doubt, veteran actress Pat Ha is the film's highlight and that's not to say that fellow thesps Carrie Ng and Michelle Ye didn't offer noteworthy takes either. Deemed a “chick flick” from the get go, this tells the tale of middle-aged women cheating on their husbands -- but as the plot soon thickens, it appears to be a lot more complex, much more of a relationship thriller than just a pure romantic film. Alongside the exploration of women’s midlife crisis and their yearning for the lost times, there are plot twists followed by more plot twists, essentially I’m not sure if it plays off so well and this despite the film's big revelation that certainly has the...

Calvin Poon's Hi, Fidelity will be taking its bow at the upcoming Hong Kong International Film Festival. The story of three lonely housewives competing for the attention of the same young gigolo is sure to attract attention for its subject matter but beyond that it simply appears to be very, very well done. Here's how the festival describes it:How desperate can a house wife get? Three lonely tai tais with their husbands eloping with others (women or men) start to embark on pleasure-seeking excursions to Hong Kong's neighboring territory. It all started as some good nature fun runs into the pleasure dome, but when they all start to fall for a handsome gigolo with irresistible boyish charm, their friendship is put to the test...
