New York -- Plum Pictures is plumbing the literary and indie film world for its latest project: an adaptation of Harlan Coben's best-selling thriller "The Innocent."
Another Coben thriller, "Tell No One," was recently transformed into one of 2008's few sleeper hits by writer-director Guillaume Canet and Music Box Films.
Plum is hoping lightning will strike twice by optioning "Innocent," the tale of an ex-con whose attempts to rebuild his life after an accidental murder are thwarted when his wife is kidnapped, leading him into a byzantine criminal underworld.
Coben's 2005 Dutton novel spent 10 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list, where his latest book "Hot Spot" reached the top of the chart.
Plum partners Celine Rattray, Galt Niederhoffer and Daniela Taplin will produce and develop the feature. The trio brokered the Coben deal with Endeavor on behalf of the Aaron Priest Agency.
