Tubi is getting into some witchy business with Vanessa Hudgens.
The platform has acquired the unscripted film, “Dead Hot,” a passion project from Hudgens that follows her and musician Gg Magree, as they embark on a journey to Salem, Mass., where they learn about witchcraft, ghost hunting and connecting with the spirit world.
“Dead Hot” hails from Bunim-Murray Productions and is distributed by Banijay Rights. The film will debut on April 14.
Hudgens and Magree are self-taught students of witchcraft and have been experimenting and connecting with the spirit world for much of their lives. But after a ghost hunt gone wrong, the duo realizes they need to seek out proper mentorship and training, so they head on a pilgrimage to Salem with cameras chronicling their journey for a masterclass in witchcraft.
The film is described as an “intimate journey into the supernatural realm that explores identity, feminine power and sisterhood.

It’s no secret that during 2020, many networks and streaming services leaned hard into nostalgia. Everyone was watching old feel-good movies and TV show reruns; famous casts were getting back together over Zoom for reunion specials that made people feel warm and fuzzy when the world was anything but. However, it’s a method that MTV’s “The Challenge,” produced by Bunim/Murray Prods., has been using for decades.
The whole premise of the reality competition series, which debuted in 1998, is about bringing back stars from past shows. Originally former “The Real World” and “Road Rules” cast members competed for a cash prize, but that has now expanded to include alumni from “Are You the One?,” “Big Brother,” “Survivor” and many more. In fact, over the 37 seasons, 27 outside franchises from around the globe have been incorporated.
Season 37, titled “The Challenge: Spies, Lies and Allies,” expanded that even further, featuring international players from 17 countries,...

“The Challenge” director of photography Bruce Ready is no stranger to braving the elements for the MTV competition series. But for the show’s 37th season, titled “Spies, Lies and Allies,” Ready faced one of his biggest challenges yet navigating the minefield challenge in Episode 5 — during a torrential rainstorm.
The episode required each team to start at a detonation station in the middle of a field and race through different obstacles, collecting puzzle pieces as they went. The last piece of the puzzle was locked inside a safe. Not only did Ready have to create a visual signature that was unique to each challenge, but he was also filming in the Motovun Village in Croatia, a village that sits on top of a mountain and is often subjected to unpredictable weather.
The night before filming, a torrential rainstorm turned the muddy terrain into a swamp, which in turn led to swarms of mosquitos.

When I first heard that Fede Alvarez would be remaking Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead, I was hit with mixed emotions, because no one was going to replace Bruce Campbell as Ashley “Ash” Williams. Forever cementing himself in cult horror history, Campbell is still most well-known for his leading role in Raimi’s original Evil Dead franchise, having last played the boomstick-wielding character in Army of Darkness. Thankfully, Alvarez’s “remake” went a much different route, rebooting the franchise with a brand new lead character.
If you stayed after the credits though, you’ll know Bruce showed up for a very brief cameo, sending fanboys and fangirls alike into a tizzy. Raimi and Alvarez then cleared up all the commotion by announcing that not only would there be a sequel to Alvarez’s new franchise entry, but Raimi himself would move ahead with Army Of Darkness 2 – leading to yet...

Chicago – ABC continues to look for another “Lost” or “Modern Family” this fall with seven new shows announced today at their 2010 upfronts presentation. The network will see changes on four nights of the week but will bring back the sometimes on-the-bubble “Castle” in its Monday night timeslot while saying goodbye to “FlashForward,’ “Scrubs,” and “Better Off Ted”.
Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment Group, said this morning via press release, “Our passion for great storytelling is at the core of everything we do. Finding and supporting writers, directors, producers and actors who share that passion is critical to our success. Our shows are the product of these collaborations, and we are thrilled to add 10 new series to our schedule next year.” (Seven will premiere in the fall with three more reserved for midseason.)
