After graduating from Pratt Institute in NYC with a B.A., Relf embarked on a trans-formative journey in LA's entertainment industry. Starting as a costume designer for feature films, he soon transitioned into various roles, from fashion stylist to fashion show producer, ultimately finding his niche in the world of fashion PR. However, it was his foray into crafting short-form fashion content that ignited an understanding of his purpose for storytelling-and making the bold decision in March 2017 to close his successful PR Agency after a decade to cultivate this purpose. Cut to: Enrolling in UCLA's esteemed Film Ex-Program in Fall 2017, Relf delved headfirst into the realm of filmmaking. Since then, Relf's creative endeavors have flourished. He has penned four gripping feature film screenplays and two compelling TV pilots, alongside writing, directing, and producing award-winning short screenplays. His work includes 2018's short film "Jesus Children of America," shot entirely on an iPhone. He was selected for the CMG/Festival de Cannes short filmmakers program in 2019 as a screenwriter, where his screenplay "Baggage" was produced and premiered during the festival's screenings. In 2020, Relf spearheaded the groundbreaking docu-series "The Color of Fashion," which earned him a coveted CNN/Film-Independent Original documentary Fellowship.
His prowess behind the camera was further recognized with the Bronze Lens 2020 Award-Winning "Best Short Film," "Catching Up," and the NYC Downtown Short Film Festival 2021 "Best Actress" Award-Winning short film, "Another Xmas Dinner," lauded for its powerful portrayal of a trans-character. Continuing to push boundaries, Relf expanded his skill set by enrolling in LACC's Cinema Program, and garnering the esteemed HFPA fellowship in 2023. His knack for understanding authentic storytelling shone through in the YouTube micro-series "Losing Hope," and its spin-off "Kelly '' which Relf story-edited + produced, making it an official selection at the Los Angeles Black Film Festival in 2024. Currently, Relf serves as the Art Department Coordinator for the acclaimed IP adapted BET/Paramount Global series "The Family Business," streaming on Netflix, and its riveting spin-off "The Family Business New Orleans."
