- Member of the Conservative Party. In May 2006, he was one of 100 would-be MPs chosen for the Conservative party A-list. He is a socially liberal rather than traditionalist Conservative and in opposition to the voting records of many Conservative MPs, believes in equal rights for homosexuals.
