Although he is now best remembered for stories involving oriental
characters, his real lifelong interest was in ancient Egypt. He made
numerous trips to Egypt and the Middle East. Egypt became his favorite
setting and his 1918 novel "Brood of the Witch-Queen" is regarded by
Rohmer aficionados as his best work.
