If there’s any reason why the John Ross show should be worth your time it’s because it adds another voice in your ear that you may not think you need, but will still give you another point of view that might be interesting. Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Graham Norton, and the slew of other late night talk show hosts that are always vying for ratings are fine and all but eventually their material gets tired and you feel the need for something else, something fresh, something that’s never been given a fair shake that could possibly be something great. Without “Game of Thrones” in Emmy contention, the VFX race has become wide open, with “Stranger Things,” “Legion,” “Westworld,” “American Gods,” and “Black Mirror” stepping up with creepy characters and supernatural situations.
Highlights include the Demogorgon creature from “Stranger Things,” the exploding kitchen from “Legion,” the final reveal of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and all of her inner workings from “Westworld,” the incredible sex scene from “American Gods” with Bilquis, the Queen of Sheeba (Yetide Badaki), and the disgusting spider with a human head from the “Playtest” episode of “Black Mirror.”

Strangely dropping a press release on a historic day where the nation's attention is elsewhere, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed their annual list of new member invitees this morning. For those who criticize the makeup of the Academy there was some good news and the stark realization the organization still has a long way to go. The Academy has spent the last eight to 10 years attempting to diversify its membership and this year's class mostly reflects that. There are significantly more invitees of Asian and African-American descent, but the male to female disparity is still depressing. Out of the 25 potential new members of the Actor's Branch only seven are women. And, no, there isn't really an acceptable way for the Academy to spin that sad fact. Additionally, It's important to realize the 322 people noted in the release have only been invited to join Hollywood's most exclusive club.

Firmly established as a cult classic, the 1993 movie was a surprise hit, taking 8 years to get made and originally being planned as a straight-to-tv project titled Disney's Haunted House.
21 years on from its release, we look back at the film's stars and find out where they are now.

Season three ended on quite the cliffhanger, with a two-hour finale that not only killed off Christopher but also introduced a new character: J.R.'s long-lost daughter! Fans were shocked to find out that John Ross (Josh Henderson) had a sister, but now we'll never get to see how that storyline plays out either. The new series also starred Metcalfe, Henderson, Jordana Brewster and Julie Gonzalo. Are you sad to see Dallas ride off into the sunset?...

“Dallas” villain Juan Pablo Di Pace dished on drug cartels, duplicity and, well, threesomes in the TheWrap's latest episode of “Drinking With the Stars.” Also read: ‘Dallas'-Related Merchandise Sparks Warner Bros. Lawsuit TheWrap asked the actor what his take was on the season finale's racy threesome between Josh Henderson (John Ross), Julie Gonzalo (Pamela) and Emma Bell (Emma), and what to expect from next. “It got pretty icky,” said Di Pace. “It got a bit messy, but I think in Nicolas’ mind everything is so controlled and contrived, and he knows exactly what he wants and he knows how to mess around with.

Channel 4's fantastically funny farce Friday Night Dinner returns for a third series tonight at 10pm - and rest assured, the latest exploits of the Goodman clan are every bit as outrageous as we've come to expect.

I went on the Coffee and Markets podcast this week to discuss Hollywood’s focus on remakes and reboots, and host Brad Jackson openly showed his frustration with the new tentpole culture of summer, asking questions that answered themselves about whether the move away from originality was purely about money. In the blur of superheroes, Transformers and ninjutsu-practicing turtles, director John Ross and I both brought up Jupiter Ascending as a bright spot of large-scale originality on the horizon of the hot months. Turns out we were wrong. According to Variety, Warners is not only delaying the release of the Wachowskis’ July adventure, but exiling it to the wasteland of February. There is no clearer sign of faithlessness in a film. It is a studio scarlet letter. Plus, on the heels of the fantastic and fantastically floppy Cloud Atlas, it’s easy to be cynical about the possibilities here. The Wrap claims that the delay is because...

John Ross Ewing (Josh Henderson) maintains he's not following in the footsteps of his late dad, J.R., but evidence suggests otherwise.
He furnished a major new piece in "Like Father, Like Son," Monday's (March 31) tellingly titled episode of TNT's "Dallas." The hour opened with him confronting Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) about her collusion with Bobby (Patrick Duffy) to deny him the permit to drill on Southfork Ranch.
He claimed he wasn't emotionally involved with Emma (Emma Bell) and only using her to get the ships the company needs. but Sue Ellen countered about his wife (Julie Gonzalo): "You think it's going to hurt any less when Pamela finds out?" Accused by his mother of being "drunk with power," he retorted, "I may be ... but you? You're just drunk."

There's nothing like a Ewing-family wedding to lure familiar faces back to Southfork Ranch.
Such guests were present in "Lifting the Veil," Monday's (March 17) episode of TNT's "Dallas" update. The occasion was the official nuptials of the already eloped John Ross (Josh Henderson) and Pamela (Julie Gonzalo), but complications arose right from the start of the big day, as John Ross' secretary Candice (Jude Demorest) summoned him to a long-sought meeting about the fracking permit he wanted.
"I've gotta take another raincheck," he told the romantically inclined Pamela, but he promised he'd be back in plenty of time for the ceremony. Her worried look indicated she didn't completely buy it.
Sue Ellen confirmed to Ann that John Ross was dallying with Emma ... "and we have got to do something about it." To that end, Sue Ellen wanted Emma to leave Southfork, but Ann feared that might make the drug cartel suspicious.

Spoiler alert! This week’s episode of Dallas saw John Ross (Josh Henderson) and Bobby (Patrick Duffy) each take bold steps in their battle over fracking at Southfork. In the end, even though John Ross had convinced the ranch hands that more money could be made in oil than cattle, Bobby managed to put a hold on John Ross’s drilling permit by informing the Sierra Club of a potentially endangered population of Lesser Prairie Chicken.
Asked how many takes it took him to get “Lesser Prairie Chicken” out, Duffy just laughs. “Once, in the old Dallas, we had the phrase,...

The scheming is reaching a fever pitch at and around Southfork Ranch.
Bountiful proof was supplied by Monday's (March 10) episode of TNT's "Dallas," "Playing Chicken." After their meeting at which Harris Ryland (Mitch Pileggi) was revealed to be working secretly with the CIA, Ann (Brenda Strong) told Bobby (Patrick Duffy) she feared for Emma's (Emma Bell) safety. He promised that the women would "always be safe on Southfork. You can count on that."
Others might not be, though: Greed-accusing graffiti indicated an uprising by workers on the ranch over the planned fracking of the land by John Ross (Josh Henderson), who was drawn into a fight by foreman Bo (Donny Boaz). Bobby broke it up by declaring, "Southfork is a cattle ranch, not an oil field, and I intend to keep it that way. Nobody is losing their jobs."

You might be able to pull the wool over some people's eyes, but you can't fool your mama.
Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) proved that at the start of "Trust Me," Monday's (March 2) new episode of TNT's "Dallas." She hired her late husband J.R's right-hand man, Bum (Kevin Page), to conduct surveillance on her son John Ross (Josn Henderson) ... convinced he was cheating on new wife Rebecca (Julie Gonzalo) with Emma (Emma Bell).
Back at the Ryland family home, Emma was surprised to see her father Harris (Mitch Pilleggi) out of prison. He wasted no time accusing her of stealing his files and setting up his incarceration, then warned he would have to return her to "a secure, therapeutic setting" -- ostensibly to keep her safe, but really to prevent her from trying to assume his corporate power again.
Emma cautioned John Ross that meant an end to the deal...

If someone says, "Shoulder pads, sparkles and cowboy hats," only one word rightfully follows: "Dallas."
The TNT reboot, airing Mondays, stays true to its iconic 1978-91 fashion roots and does a great job of moving that look to today and capturing Dallas style.
Costume designer Rachel Sage Kunin recalls the original fashions as "very aspirational, larger than life. It was fun and exciting and it was a sign of those times, not just Dallas, but around the country."
As wonderful as shoulder pads one might see on the gridiron are, Kunin presents the modern Dallas woman.
"The women here are especially classic and modern, and they like to have fun with fashion," she tells Zap2it. "They are also very appropriate and a very art-driven community.
"I like to find pieces that Elena (Jordana Brewster) would find on sale," Kunin says of this red Valentino dress trimmed with textured braid.

In real time, new "Dallas" episodes left off 10 months ago. In Southfork time, it's only been 12 hours.
That was explained in the opening scene of 'The Return," Monday's (Feb. 24) Season 3 premiere of the TNT series, as Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy) visited his family's burial plot. "I'm the only one left," he said at the gravesites of brother J.R. and their parents, Jock and Miss Ellie. "I'll try not to disappoint you."
J.R.'s son, newlywed John Ross (Josh Henderson), was geting on with business in his own way by continuing his extramarital dallying with Emma (Emma Bell), who had the power to make decisions for her father Harris Ryland's (Mitch Pileggi) company while he was in prison -- an incarceration she engineered.
Later, John Ross' wife Pamela (Julie Gonzalo) met him outside Southfork, where he wanted to make good on their elopement by placing on her finger "the biggest diamond in Texas.

"Dallas" is starting its new season in a way it never has before, in either its initial or current versions ... without J.R. Ewing.
The iconic character's death echoed the passing of his portrayer, Larry Hagman, but both their shadows continued to loom large over the rest of Season 2 of the TNT reboot. The legacy of J.R. remains a big factor as the third season starts Monday, Feb. 24, even as others try to fill his shoes and new characters pose fresh complications for the residents of Southfork Ranch. And their allies. And their enemies.
As Hagman did, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray -- who also starred in the 1978-91 CBS incarnation -- remain pivotal to "Dallas" as J.R.'s brother Bobby and ex-wife Sue Ellen. The saga picks up 12 hours after it left off, so Duffy feels it's appropriate for J.R. still to be invoked from the get-go,...

The new posters for TNT’s “Dallas” revival will have viewers not caring a lick about who shot J.R. Ewing. The sexy, though probably messy, photos were tweeted out by the soap opera’s official Twitter account on Friday. “You can’t strike oil without getting dirty” one reads, as John Ross Ewing (Josh Henderson), Elena Ramos (Jordana Brewster), Pamela Rebecca Barnes (Julie Gonzalo) and Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe) bath in a pool of oil.
