Paul Ryan, the former speaker of the House of Representatives, said former President Donald Trump is an “authoritarian narcissist.”
“Trump’s not a conservative,” the former speaker told a virtual event hosted by the consulting firm Teneo. “He’s a populist, authoritarian narcissist. So, historically speaking, all of his tendencies are basically where narcissism takes him, which is whatever makes him popular, makes him feel good at any given moment.”
“He thinks in an authoritarian way, and he’s been able to get a big chunk of the Republican base to follow him because he’s the culture warrior,” he continued.
Ryan’s latest comments about Trump are now part of a series of occasions in which he spoke out against him.
In addition to calling Trump out, Ryan praised former Reps. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) and Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois) for opposing Trump, thereby costing them their political careers.

The sudden ouster of Tucker Carlson from his primetime perch at Fox News is drawing a flood of concern and complaint from Maga world and other conservative voices, both mainstream and extreme.
Former president Donald Trump said he was “shocked” and that Carlson was “a very good person, a very good man and very talented” in reaction to Monday’s news. He added, “I don’t know if it was voluntary or was it somebody fired, but I think Tucker has been terrific. Especially over the last year or so he’s terrific to me.

There’s a telling moment at the dénouement of Thomas Hamilton’s and Ron MacCloskey’s affectionate documentary Boris Karloff: The Man behind the Monster. Sara Karloff, the now eighty-two year old daughter of the beloved actor, opines that her father’s lasting cinematic legacy is due, in part, to the tenaciousness of his devoted fan base. It’s a demographic that we soon discover consists of a number of amazingly creative people: folks whose loyalty to and enthusiasm for Karloff’s work has not wavered over the decades. Sara’s contention is inarguably true. As this ninety-nine minute Voltage Films/Abramorama documentary (presented by Shout! Entertainment finance firm Forest Road and a team of A-list media insiders from Tom Staggs to Kevin Mayer have closed a $300 million IPO of a new Spac – a special purpose acquisition vehicle they’ll use to buy a private company in media, tech or telecom.
SPACs, which are exploding, are basically empty publicly traded vessels with investors and, in this case, seasoned managers, that go public and find private companies to merge with – taking them public in turn in a process that’s faster, easier and cheaper than a traditional initial public offering. Ideally the SPACs offer industry expertise in the transition to public company status and beyond.
Units of the Forest Road Spac now trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol Frx and can start to approach merger candidates to discuss deals. Forest Road chief executive Zachary Tarica, who is also chairman and chief investment officer of the Spac,...

Trump complained vociferously about the way he is treated by Fox News during his interview with Rush Limbaugh, and if he happens to catch some of what the network’s weekend hosts said following his Covid-19 super spreader event at the White House on Saturday, the ‘roided-up president might just blow a gasket.
Before tossing to a panel discussion about how the president performed today, host Arthel Neville gave it to Fox viewers straight by saying that Trump went out of his way to cajole some of the people of color in the crowd,...

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh interviewed President Trump on Friday in what Limbaugh called a “virtual rally.” During the two-hour-long mutual back rubbing segment, the president went after LeBron James and Black Lives Matter, blamed Fox News for his campaign failures, and much, much more.
Discussing the California wildfires, Trump told Rush about “explosive trees” in other countries:
Trump told Limbaugh that the Covid-19 experimental drugs he was given are better than the vaccine, even though there is is no vaccine for the virus yet. The president also...

Donald Trump called into Rush Limbaugh’s radio show on Friday for what was billed as a “rally,” and it turned into a two-hour marathon of media bashing, insistence that there is a Covid-19 cure, and a reversal on where the president stands on another coronavirus relief package.
As he did on previous interviews, Trump called for indictments of political rivals, and chided his attorney general, William Barr, for reports that he would not finish an investigation of the Mueller investigation until after the election.
Trump also bashed Fox News, as he has done before, arguing that the network “is a much different thing that it was four years ago. Somebody said, ‘What is the biggest difference? I said the biggest difference is Fox.”
He singled out Paul Ryan, the former House speaker, who is a member of the board of directors of Fox Corp.

(The following stories contains spoilers through the first 10 episodes of “Homeland” Season 8)
“Homeland’s” final season finds Carrie and Saul dealing with yet another geopolitical crisis, this time averting a nuclear war between the United States and Pakistan. And in Sam Trammell’s Benjamin Hayes, they have — by his own admission — probably the worst (fictional) person you could think of to handle a major global crisis.
“[Showrunners Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon] were really looking in the last season to have somebody in the Oval Office that was kind of in over his head and not up to the challenge,” Trammell told TheWrap. “And then, to give that person the ultimate, geopolitical emergency.”
Hayes is not the first politician whose role is to serve as an obstacle for Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) during the eight-year run of the espionage thriller. But where most have had some nefarious backstory or ulterior motive,...

Fox News and Fox Business talent circled the wagon and defended Neil Cavuto after President Donald Trump tore into the host — who appears on both networks — Thursday.
Calling him the “utmost journalist,” Fox Business host Trish Regan upheld Cavuto’s honor Thursday night: “He is a fair person, a fair guy, and a good man, so I’m disappointed that the president said those things because Neil Cavuto is one guy who just doesn’t deserve it.”
Regan delivered her remarks during “Trish Regan Primetime,” her highly-rated show on the business network, after Trump held a rally in Colorado where he expanded on disparaging remarks about Cavuto he’d made earlier in a tweet. During the rally, Trump said Cavuto hosts “loser shows.”

In the middle of a rant during a rally in Colorado Springs on Thursday, President Trump, for some reason, took a detour into the movie business in order to complain that the South Korean satire “Parasite” won the Oscar for Best Picture instead of an American film.
Also, for some reason, he called the award “best movie of the year” and appeared to suggest that Oscar voting is a matter of national trade policy.
“And the winner is a movie from South Korea,” said Trump. “What the hell was that all about? We got enough problems with South Korea with trade. On top of it, they give him the best movie of the year? Was it good? I don’t know. Can we get ‘Gone With the Wind’ back please? ‘Sunset Boulevard.’ So many great movies, the winner is from South Korea. I thought it was best foreign film, right?...

If you believe former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, Media Matters for America is the nation’s “most dangerous organization,” which would be quite a feat for a modestly funded nonprofit whose 80 employees spend a lot of their time quietly watching cable news at their desks. The 15-year-old, left-leaning news-watchdog group’s mission of combating “conservative misinformation” extends to minute-by-minute scrutiny of right-wing media — Fox News, in particular — and its stars, who do not, as a rule, enjoy the attention. Sean Hannity accused Mmfa of “liberal fascism,” and said...

President Donald Trump is “so unpopular even his tie moved to the left” during his State of the Union Address, NBC’s Late Night host Seth Meyers marveled during his live post-sotu “Closer Look” segment.
Last year, Meyers noted, two Republicans – Veep Mike Pence and House leader Paul Ryan – stood behind Trump, jumping up and applauding his performance “like southern pageant moms” as he addressed the joint session of Congress.
This time, during Trump’s 80+ minute speech, Dem House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could be seen off his left shoulder gazing at the transcript as if “she’s reading the playbill looking to see who the understudy is. Oh, it’s Alec Baldwin!”
Trump scolded previous POTUSes for not building his Border Wall.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Eye Roll Drinking Game begins at 9 Pm Et/6 Pm Pt when, around the TV landscape, President Donald Trump is set to deliver his State of the Union Address at Nancy’s House. Pelosi will sit behind Trump’s left shoulder this year, replacing Paul Ryan, who did same at last year’s address to the joint chambers of Congress.
The president’s address to Congress is his first since Democrats won 40 extra House seats in November’s midterm elections. But don’t hold your breathe on Trump taking the traditional high road to congratulate Pelosi on the Dems’ success. On the bright side, TV news pundits have been talking excitedly about Pelosi’s eye-rolling skills, which will be on full display.
Potus reportedly has been complaining the speech written for him is too nice, too conciliatory, demanding rewrites to come up with something more combative and Stephen Miller-ish.

In an interview with Fox Business on Tuesday, the former reality TV star said God’s healthcare plan also comes with some rather promising perks, including being raised from the dead.
“Kamala Harris… says elect me, and everything is free,” Robertson told Neil Cavuto. “Look, everybody can have their own healthcare, the government’s gonna finance the whole thing. It is not going to cost but 30 trillion. I’m offering you the greatest deal you ever had. Elect me and everything will be free.”

Toby Hayne’s untimely and somewhat exploitive chartering of the creation and ultimately the execution of what may just be one of the most consequential political tragedies to befall on the British people by the British people in modern times – Brexit: The Uncivil War is, like its namesake, a disaster.
The subject matter of Hayne’s film has, of course, an interesting basis to be brought to the screen. Almost two years on from David Cameron’s ludicrous political party gamble in a referendum vote on the E.U. and the UK government (nor people for that matter) are nowhere closer formulating a promising deal or coming together to...

Brexit, the HBO docudrama premiering tomorrow about Britain’s 2016 vote to leave the European Union, arrives at an unexpectedly timely moment. Three years ago, most of the world was shocked when a slim margin of the country’s population, angry over trade deals and immigration, edged out those wanting to maintain the status quo of economic partnership with their neighbors. In the last few days, the tumult that decision unlocked has spiked: British Parliament rejected Prime Minister Theresa May’s muddled plan for a March exit, May barely survived a...

The announcement of the film “Brexit” — which aired in the U.K. on Channel 4 before its HBO bow on Jan. 19 — engendered serious criticism from the British, and understandably so. The film, which looks at recent history in the manner HBO productions like “Game Change” and “Recount” had done, takes on a story whose very fundamentals are still in doubt. For those who believe the Brexit vote, a plebiscite that resulted in the U.K.’s protracted quitting of the European Union, turned out the way it did because of nefarious or illegal tactics, “Brexit” covers material that’s too painful, and too unsettled, to handle.
But the protest didn’t account for the fact that the film, indeed, addresses various potential causes, so much so that it feels at times more like a polemic against the forces that led to upheaval than like a fiction film. In its multifarious...

Even with the government shutdown that’s been ominously hovering over Washington these past three weeks, there’s still a fresh Congress in town. That means the nation’s 535 lawmakers are in the first stages of trying to get their favored pet issues on the radar of party leaders. That focused energy and flowery optimism that marks the start of any new Congress is different this year for marijuana proponents, because this time around they believe they can actually pass some sweeping cannabis reforms.

Liz goes on a scavenger hunt through her sister's past as Roswell, Nm hits it stride
This Roswell, New Mexico review contains spoilers.
Roswell, New Mexico Episode 3 Review
Things get a little wild at the drive-in while Maria and Liz go on a treasure hunt through Rosa’s past. It’s another great way to keep Rosa front and center and tie the show back to the 90s, while offering the audience a chance to get to know Liz on screen, rather than just in voiceover or based on Max’s descriptions. Meanwhile there’s plenty of alien fun, with Mars Attacks! at the drive-in and even a Paul Ryan alien joke.
I love Liz’s scientific method framework, and I hope it’s one she returns to. The idea of her pretending to help Max but secretly trying to figure out if he killed her sister is a good...

Stephen Colbert did not mince words when describing President Donald Trump’s infamous Thursday tweet storm, declaring, “It’s a buffet of s—t.”
VideosColbert Calls for President Trump to Resign in Scathing Late Show Monologue
On Thursday’s Late Show, Colbert addressed Trump’s attack on Morning Joe hosts (and real-life couple) Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, in which Potus referred to the MSNBC personalities as “Psycho Joe” and “Crazy Mika,” before alleging that he turned Brzezinski away from a New Year’s Eve shindig at Mar-a-Lago because “she was bleeding badly from a face-lift.”

Donald Trump has had plenty of volatile exchanges with the press since he announced his candidacy, but he's saved some of his most searing personal attacks for Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. In the course of the campaign, Trump went from promoting his many appearances on the show – and having off-the-record phone calls with the hosts – to calling Brzezinski "a neurotic and not very bright mess" and suggesting she "had a mental breakdown while talking about me" last summer.
But Trump unleashed one of his more vicious...

President Trump was almost immediately condemned for his crudely personal attack on Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski Thursday morning — and some of the most biting comments came from fellow Republicans.
Trump, 70, took to Twitter early Thursday morning with a series of insults aimed at Brzezinski and her cohost/fiancé Joe Scarborough.
“I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me,” Trump wrote. “She was bleeding badly from a face-lift.

EastEnders
I’m glad Amira has finally gotten the message, given up on Syed and left town. Given that Syed cheated on her for over a year with Christian, ended their marriage to be with Christian and wanted nothing more than to be with Christian after Christian dumped him late last year, it’s pretty clear that he’s just not that into her. I just hope she doesn’t give him a hard time about finally getting a divorce and lets him see his daughter regularly without a hassle. Her character has worn out her welcome, and it’s time to move on. I will miss scenes of Christian and Amira being bitchy to each other though. That was always fun to watch.
As for Zainab finally confessing that she purposefully sent Yusef to his death, which led to Tamwar being seriously burned, it was a moment long in coming.

Neighbours
Not much to say here, other than I thought the scenes of a drugged out Chris revealing his innermost thoughts to be cute and funny. We don’t get to see Chris in comedic moments very often, but James Mason handled it well. I thought it was interesting how Chris prattled on about how much he liked Aiden, clearly a setup for their forthcoming romance. I’m not sure if Chris and Aiden have much chemistry, but then again, it hasn’t had a chance to develop yet. I guess we’ll see as the story moves forward.
Hollyoaks
I really think Hollyoaksdropped the ball in regards to Brendan’s handling of Declan. It’s true that Declan shouldn’t develop Brendan’s less than desirable habits and Brendan should deter that behavior in his son. But the show seems to be saying Brendan can...
