Starting in fall 1964, children across America could watch CBS’ The Munsters but come January 1966, they seemingly all flipped the dial to ABC and Batman. The superhero series’ smash ratings cast a death spell on the humorous take on the classic monsters, with the exaggerated look as perfected by Universal’s horror films of the 1930s. Fred Gwynne was a delight as Herman Munster, paired nicely with Yvonne DeCarlo and Al Lewis. The sitcom transferred traditional family drama tropes to the residents of 1313 Mockingbird Lane and for 70 episodes, it was tremendous fun, revived for wildly successful syndication.
Ever since, there have been revivals in feature films, animated series, and failed attempts at series revivals. Now, here comes director Rob Zombie with his take on the classic characters, largely retaining the look of the original series, but in garish color.

Considering the spate of TV-to-movie adaptations that were released in the 1990s, it's genuinely surprising that there hasn't been a modernized feature-length take on "The Munsters" before now. A mashup of '50s-era sitcom tropes and classic horror, "The Munsters" would have seemed ripe for a big-screen take. And yet, though the 1990s brought us very shrewd and funny adaptations of both "The Addams Family" and "The Brady Bunch", it has taken until the year of Our Lord 2022 for Universal Pictures to scrape deep enough into its vast barrel of intellectual property to unearth the family of monsters known as "The Munsters," the new PG-rated effort from cult genre favorite writer/director Rob Zombie. The result – which is headed simultaneously to home media and Netflix on the same day – is a 110-minute example of staggering cheapness masquerading poorly as a feature, whose only meager defense is that its top-to-bottom wretchedness is intentional,...

The first full trailer for Rob Zombie’s “The Munsters” introduces the classic family of monsters as you’ve never seen them: not just in color but telling a classic love and origin story inspired by the ’60s sitcom.
You can see why “The Munsters” is a passion project for Zombie, and the trailer proudly announces that this campy and colorful looking family movie comes from the director of R-rated horror like “Halloween” and “House of 1000 Corpses.” The film is a live-action, PG-rated take that tells how Herman Munster met and married Lily in her search for true love, and Grandpa’s initial effort to stop this matrimony.
“I knew the moment I laid eyes on you that you were special. I understand if you don’t feel the same,” Lily says to Herman in the clip. “I’m just a regular gal living a normal, boring life.”

The teaser begins with the classic Universal Pictures logo (the studio distributing the film) before launching into a riff on the iconic opening credits of the 1960s sitcom. Herman, Lily and Grandpa come crashing through the front door all while the unforgettable theme song plays.
But then, a title card teases something different: color.
We then cut to Herman, Lily and Grandpa sitting on a couch in their cobweb-infested mansion in full color.

The BBC’s upcoming Dracula reimagining has announced a batch of new cast members, and it seems showrunners Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have brought with them some old co-stars from past TV series they’ve worked on.
Sherlock fans who were already looking forward to the drama, as it’s being positioned as something of a sister show to the hit detective series, will be pleased to find out that Anderson himself, Jonathan Aris, is joining the cast. Aris starred on all four seasons of Sherlock as the forensics expert who has a rivalry with Benedict Cumberbatch’s sleuth.
Sacha Dhawan is also signing up for the Victorian-set supernatural drama. Best know to audiences as Davos in Marvel’s Iron Fist, the actor also has Sherlock pedigree as he was the killer in season 4’s “The Six Thatchers.” Alongside Aris and Dhawan, three more stars have been announced as well: Catherine Schell,...

Secret agent Michael Caine must take on both the kidnappers of his son and his own suspect Army Intelligence colleagues in Don Siegel’s efficiently filmed, curiously tame suspense thriller. Delphine Seyrig is enticing and Donald Pleasance an unlikeable security bureaucrat, while the capable Janet Suzman and John Vernon fill out a top-flight cast that performs well in thriller surprisingly lacking in dramatic impact.

'The Pink Panther' with Peter Sellers: Blake Edwards' 1963 comedy hit and its many sequels revolve around one of the most iconic film characters of the 20th century: clueless, thick-accented Inspector Clouseau – in some quarters surely deemed politically incorrect, or 'insensitive,' despite the lack of brown face make-up à la Sellers' clueless Indian guest in Edwards' 'The Party.' 'The Pink Panther' movies [1] There were a total of eight big-screen Pink Panther movies co-written and directed by Blake Edwards, most of them starring Peter Sellers – even after his death in 1980. Edwards was also one of the producers of every (direct) Pink Panther sequel, from A Shot in the Dark to Curse of the Pink Panther. Despite its iconic lead character, the last three movies in the Pink Panther franchise were box office bombs. Two of these, The Trail of the Pink Panther and Curse of the Pink Panther, were co-written by Edwards' son,...

Although he was regarded as a comedy genius, the sad truth is that Peter Sellers was more often than not misused in big screen comedies. After making it big on British TV and in feature films in the late 1950s, Sellers became an international sensation with his acclaimed work in big studio feature films such as "Lolita", "Dr. Strangelove", "The World of Henry Orient" and the first entries in the "Pink Panther" series. Through the mid-Sixties, he did impressive work in films like "After the Fox", "The Wrong Box" and "What's New Pussycat?" If the films weren't classics, at least they presented some of Sellers' off-the-wall ability to deliver innovative characters and comedic situations. By the late Sixties, however, his own personal demons began to get the better of him. Sellers was the epitome of the classic clown: laughing on the outside but crying on the inside.

British sci-fi show Space: 1999 is to return to our TV screens in an updated version called Space: 2099.
Two new teaser posters for the new project have been unveiled and are included below.
Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's show centred on the occupants of Moonbase Alpha after Earth's moon was flung out of orbit into the depths of outer space by an explosion of nuclear waste stored on its dark side.
Viewers followed the lunar colonists as they encountered alien worlds and unknown forces.
Starring Martin Landau and Barbara Bain - and later Catherine Schell as the shapeshifting alien Maya (right) - the series ran from 1975 to 1977. Despite its relatively short run, it is fondly remembered and regarded as a cult classic.
ITV Studios America and Hdfilms have now have announced plans on an official website to revive the concept in updated form as Space: 2099. It's in the development stage...

Back in the 1970s, Gerry and Sylvia Anderson created the syndicated sci-fi series Space:1999. Set some 25 years into the future, humans had established a research center on the moon and had been storing nuclear waste on the far side. After a massive explosion, the moon is ripped from Earth's orbit and sent hurtling through space. The 311 men and women that are trapped on Moonbase Alpha encounter strange aliens out in space as they search for a new planet to colonize and call home.
Space: 1999 ran for two seasons and stars Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, a then-married couple who'd worked together on from Mission: Impossible. Barry Morse co-starred on the first season and season two saw the addition of Catherine Schell and Tony Anholt. Other castmembers include Nick Tate, Zienia Merton, and Anton Phillips.

“My name is Bond - James Bond". That classic introduction to the cinema’s greatest secret agent is as famous as “I am Dracula, I bid you welcome.” When the box office success of Dr No (1962) turned the unknown Sean Connery into a movie legend, Hammer was never far away from the franchise. With their own films running parallel to the Bond series, Hammer and Eon Productions often made use of the same talent.
Dr No also marked the debuts of Bernard Lee (the first of 11 films as M) and Lois Maxwell (the first of 14 as Miss Moneypenny). Lee had a brief turn as Tarmut in Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1973) and despite never starring in a Hammer horror, Maxwell turned up in their early fifties thrillers Lady in the Fog (1953) and Mantrap (1954).

Like The Mona Lisa, City Of Death has been seen, admired and commented on by millions. On its original transmission, it managed to achieve over 16 million viewing figures for the last episode alone. Yeah, this may be partly down to the ITV strike of Autumn 1979, but don’t forget, no one forced people to watch City Of Death part four at gunpoint.
So it’s a hell of an achievement, and what’s more, City has been acclaimed as one of the very best Doctor Who stories ever. Like a good wine it has a bouquet, even if 1979 isn’t exactly a vintage year in most fans’ eyes.
We also know that it’s strikingly different to your average Doctor Who story. It’s the first story to be filmed overseas, as the cast and crew take to Paris for a few days. The end result is a Doctor Who...
