- A native Los Angelino, Blond in Car singer Robin Schorr had a serious career as a producer in film/tv until she unexpectedly and totally fell in love with songwriting and started over from scratch. In May of 2020, after starting in the rigorous world of country music songwriting, Schorr felt the urge to make more personal music, and took up the moniker Blond in Car. Today, Blond in Car songs have over 1.5MM streams. The gauzy soft-psych indie pop of Blond in Car is infused with that particular combination of romanticism and melancholy that permeates her hometown. Built around immediate, undeniably infectious hooks, the music of Blond in Car (the credit Schorr had on her one non-speaking movie role) combines a dreamy, innocent femininity with a sharp eye for detail, luscious harmonies, and chunky beats. No wonder that prestigious Under the Radar magazine describes Robin's music as "instantly memorable. A wistful pop delight!." Following the May 2022 release of the Different Dream EP, Schorr continued work with producer Gabe Lehner (Emancipator, Clozee) - aka 9 Theory. "Working with an inspiring producer is one of the funnest things about creating music" explains Schorr. "The better you know your collaborator, the more you can dig into their special talents. And the more they can hunt for sounds and vibes are going to make me excited. I think that growing familiarity makes me bolder with him and I'm crazy about the new songs." Written in the self-described "happy place" that is Schorr's little home studio and recorded in Lehner's studio filled with "beautiful synths and Moogs and all the groovy guitars and toys", What Anyone Would Do is a snapshot of her reality, both emotionally and musically. "I'm mad about the Wet Leg record" explains Schorr, "so I hear a little of that infatuation in the first single, "Second Before." But on a deep level, I think it's a very hard time in the world right now. So, I felt an almost moral responsibility to write songs of kindness. It's all I can do. Particularly, in writing the song, "Everything You Never Had", I wrote the kindest, most empathetic lyrics I could possibly think of. I just don't think it's the time for mean songs." Musically, What Anyone Would Do was crafted with a focus on distilling the most beautiful chords and melodies into an engaging, uplifting indie-pop cocktail. "I hope people who hear the songs feel that they stumbled onto some modern version of a Carpenters record mixed with the divine Beach House" laughs Schorr. She will no doubt get her wish, and the record telegraphs the almost miraculous joy she found while creating it. Effervescent art-pop, infused with sea breeze and sparkle, What Anyone Would Do is a concentrated dose of wistful euphoria - right when we all most need it.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Albatross Pictures Inc
