Hilarie Burton recently recalled an uncomfortable situation on set with “One Tree Hill” creator Mark Schwahn.
On the latest episode of the actress’ re-watch podcast “Drama Queens” with co-hosts and former co-stars Sophia Bush and Bethany Joy Lenz, she recounted a scene that Schwahn wrote himself into as a result of Burton not being on speaking terms with him.
“I wasn’t speaking to him in real life, and so he wrote himself into the episode of me hugging him,” Burton looked back on season five, episode 13, titled “Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace”.

During Monday’s episode of the “Drama Queens” podcast, the actors were joined by Danneel Ackles to recap the Season 4 finale of “One Tree Hill.” However, the discussion turned into a much more emotional one that explained why they keep speaking out about the behavior of creator Mark Schwahn and what they experienced on later jobs.
First, Burton claims that Schwahn told everyone she was doing cocaine while filming the episode, during which she was taking caffeine pills to make it through the night shoots. Ackles and Burton also alleged that he then called their next employers to say they were problematic. Lenz added, “He was super happy to say anything that he could to keep people from hiring us at any moment.”

Hilarie Burton said her One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray was one of the few who stood up for her against the show’s creator Mark Schwahn.
Burton and Murray played love interests Peyton Sawyer (Burton) and Lucas Scott (Murray) on the long-running US teen drama.
In 2017, Burton was among the 18 women One Tree Hill cast and crew members who claimed they had been sexually harassed by Schwahn.
The showrunner has never commented on the allegations and was fired from One Tree Hill that same year.
During the most recent episode of the Drama Queens podcast hosted by Burton’s One Tree Hill co-stars Bethany Joy Lenz and Sophia Bush, the actor was asked about her decision not to report Schwahn at the time.
“Oh, I did. I told all sorts of people. Honey, I told everybody,” Burton responded.

The actress said that she and Schwahn — who she refers to as “the boss” rather than by name on the podcast — had to travel together to a Texas high school to inform them they’d be filming at their school.
“The flight back from that is when he assaulted me. He assaulted me again in the car on the drive from Raleigh to Wilmington, He went straight to set and he told Danneel [Ackles] that he and I made out the whole time, and it was fun, and he was trying to make her jealous. So,...

Sophia Bush’s career is coming full circle.
Alongside her “One Tree Hill” co-stars Hilarie Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz, the actor is reliving the show’s 187 episodes — and watching some for the first time. Bush spent 35,000 hours playing Brooke Davis, the sassy cheerleader who evolved into a Clothes Over Bros entrepreneur, on the teen drama. She also stepped behind the camera to direct three times, which may explain why she describes the experience as a “bit of a blur.”
Now, with new iHeartRadio podcast “Drama Queens,” Bush, Burton Morgan and Lenz are ready to revisit the fictional town of Tree Hill and reclaim their experience.
“The show itself is a thing that we have had all these mixed emotions about for so long,” Bush tells Variety. “This is an opportunity for us to lean into everything that was good and we’re going to take back everything that should have been better.

Sophia Bush has been fairly tight-lipped about her reasons for leaving “Chicago P.D.” at the end of Season 4. But on Monday, the actress who had played Det. Erin Lindsay on the Dick Wolf NBC series since the drama’s premiere in 2014, finally revealed details of the on-set conditions and “consistent onslaught barrage of abusive behavior” she says led to her 2017 exit.
“I programmed myself to tolerate the intolerable,” Bush told Dax Shepard on his podcast, “Armchair Expert.” “And part of the big break for me in saying, ‘No. I don’t necessarily know what it is, but I know that what’s happening is not good for me and everything has to change.’ That was a big cutoff point when I quit my job.”

Sophia Bush has more to say about why she chose to leave Chicago P.D.
The actress — who departed P.D. in 2017, after playing Det. Erin Lindsay for four seasons — spoke candidly on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast about the on-set conditions that prompted her unhappiness.
“I programmed myself to tolerate the intolerable,” Bush said, revealing that she had had an epiphany after attending mental health workshops via the therapeutic program Onsite. “Part of the big break for me [was] saying, ‘No. I don’t necessarily know what it is, but I know that what’s happening is not good...

The Royals’ Loyals officially are without a show. After unsuccessfully shopping the series that was canceled by E! last month, Lionsgate TV tweeted today that the Elizabeth Hurley drama has been dethroned for good.
#Loyals, we’re so thankful for your undying support of #TheRoyals, but sadly our reign has officially come to an end. It has been a true privilege to bring this series to life and to work with such an amazing cast and crew on 4 incredible seasons! #LongLiveTheRoyals pic.twitter.com/DPmb7zoMYm

After E! annouced on August 16 that it was ending its first and only remaining original scripted series, the production company said it had been in talks with sister cable network Pop — a co-venture between Lionsgate and CBS — for a possible Season 5 pickup. Now it’s confirmed that isn’t to be.

Despite declining ratings each season, E! has continued to renew The Royals TV show, when it might have been cancelled on other networks. As the cabler's first foray into scripted fare, they have given this primetime soap opera every chance. After production was done on the fourth season though, they fired creator Mark Schwahn, in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations. How that ultimately affects this low-rated show's fate remains to be seen and likely depends on the ratings in the fourth season. Will The Royals be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

At a time the royal family is as popular as ever, The Royals has been canceled at E! network.
As it was their last remaining (and first) scripted program, the cancelation leaves them with only reality programming for now.
Deadline reports producing studio Lionsgate TV has been shopping the drama around to other networks with Pop a possibility for a fifth season.
As the real royal family has been an inspiration for The Royals and with Meghan Markles' introduction this year, the timing seems off for a network otherwise focused on celebrity.

Sophia Bush is opening up about the sexual harassment she endured on the set of One Tree Hill.
To recap: Back in November, Bush joined Hilarie Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz and 15 more female cast and crew members in releasing a joint statement accusing series creator Mark Schwahn of inappropriate sexual conduct. The letter was published after staff writer Audrey Wauchope took to Twitter to share her first-hand account of harassment that she and writing partner Rachel Specter experienced.
In a new interview on Sirius Xm’s Andy Cohen Live, Bush recalled at least one instance in which she herself was inappropriately touched by Schwahn.

A federal judge’s decision to allow At&T’s acquisition of Time Warner is destined to have ripple effects in the media business.
“I think you’ve cleared the way for more consolidation,” Epix president Michael Wright said Wednesday at Variety‘s Tune In! TV Summit. “My personal expectation is you’re probably going to see more of it.”
Wright was joined by studio and network chiefs from across television in a panel moderated by Variety executive editor Debra Birnbaum — who kicked things off with a conversation about Tuesday’s At&T-Time Warner decision.
Several execs shared Wright’s view.
“Unlike some of the fears that it’s going to be anti-competitive, I think it’s going to create a situation where more people are going to be able to compete with some of the streamers who have eaten up some of the environment,” said Lionsgate Television president Sandra Stern.

The residents of Tree Hill may be naughty, but it seems they’re cooking up something nice for the holidays.
At least that’s what one could speculate based on recent Instagram posts from the cast of One Tree Hill. Several stars, including Hilarie Burton (aka Peyton Sawyer Scott), reunited in Lafayette, La., for a special project this week, six years after the drama wrapped on The CW.
But what exactly is this project? That much remains a mystery, though it’s worth noting that everyone involved is using the hashtag #Christmas2018, implying that we’re in for a treat this December.

Teen drama One Tree Hill ended its nine-season run in 2012, and there hasn't been a show quite like it since.
Many of the actors catapulted into stardom thanks to the series and are now killing it on both the big and small screen. Meanwhile, others have removed themselves from the spotlight completely.
However, nothing bonds a group of strangers quite like a TV show. Their bond has remained strong, and they continue to hang out and keep in touch with fans at conventions which have also kept the legacy of the series alive for new and old fans alike.
There are even talks of a possible revival in the near-future.
So, let's return to Tree Hill and see what your basketball-loving, small-town actors have been up to since the series wrapped.
