Was bought by Arsenal from Queens Park Rangers in August 1990 for £1.3 million; a British record fee for a goalkeeper at that time.
Represented England in the European Championships of 1996 and 2000,
and in the World Cup tournaments of 1998 and 2002.
Has won four FA Cups (1993, 1998, 2002, 2003), three League
Championships (1991, 1998, 2002), one League Cup (1993), and one
European Cup Winners Cup (1994); all with Arsenal.
After being released by Leeds United in 1982, Seaman played for Peterborough United (1982-1984), Birmingham City (1984-1986), Queens Park Rangers (1986-1990), Arsenal (1990-2003) and Manchester City (2003-2004).
Won 75 caps for England between 1988-2002, and is the second highest capped English goalkeeper behind Peter Shilton, whom Seaman rates as England's greatest goalkeeper.
England's then manager Bobby Robson included him as England's third choice goalkeeper for the 1990 World Cup, behind the more experienced Peter Shilton and Chris Woods. Unfortunately, after injuring his thumb in training, Seaman had to relinquish his position to Dave Beasant.
He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1997 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to Association Football.
