Olinka Berova is as sexy as Ursula Andress, but even with a new woman producer Hammer’s She sequel doesn’t give her new She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed much of a chance — the story just sits there and the kingdom of Kuma is woefully under-produced. Good photography and acting help, but one doesn’t earn high marks for the Boys from Bray.

Members of the Bollywood fraternity have paid tribute to legendary actress Zohra Sehgal, who died on Thursday at the age of 102. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was one of those who gave a moving statement on his relationship with Sehgal, with whom he worked with in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Saawariya (2007). “My experience of working with Zohraji in the two films I did with her, would remain with me until I die,” says Bhansali. “She could create her own universe for each character without going into too much background detail. I certainly hoped to complete a hat-trick of films with Zohra Sehgal by doing one more film with her. I hoped she’d out-live us all.”
“I think I’m the only contemporary director who had the privilege of working in two films with Zohraji,” adds Bhansali. “And both the films Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Saawariya were...

The British filmmaker is at Village East Cinema in downtown Manhattan, where the New York Indian Film Festival is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of her iconic film. “I hadn’t expected the response it got then. New Delhi, Feb 10: Reacting to a media report that the urban development ministry declined to give Zohra Sehgal a ground floor flat because she doesn't qualify under certain clauses, the veteran actress's daughter feels it is an insult to her and the case should be taken up as a "special category".
The 101-year-old actress lives with her daughter Kiran Sehgal, a renowned dancer, in a second floor house in south Delhi's Mandakini Enclave.
Zohra Sehgal is finding it difficult to climb stairs and move around due to ill health.
In 2013, Kiran had requested the culture ministry for the allotment of a ground floor government.

Out of all the characters that you will come across in an Indian film, one that you will rarely see go astray is a mother. That too, the hero’s mother. She is an entity that restrains him with no physical bounds, gives him strength like no other energy drink, drives him to lengths beyond imagination (all within 2.5 hours) and without her, teaches him lessons universities worldwide have yet to discover. From being a sari clad soap opera box drama queen to a sophisticated career driven business magnet, she has transformed in front of us but one thing remains. The positive energy one feels from our filmi “Ma”. It may be a scene or a song, but she is there and her love unconditional. Yes, there may be some stories that forget about her, yet there is no denying, our cinematic mothers have sometimes been the saving grace for our films.

New Delhi, Dec 29 (Ians) It’s been fifty years since it was born — and despite stiff competition from the National School of Drama, independent companies of contemporary theatre, television and cinema — the Delhi chapter of the Indian People’s Theatre Association (Ipta) has managed to survive.
On Dec 27, the local unit of Ipta celebrated its 50th birthday.
As part of the celebrations, the association staged a 1977-vintage play ‘Anarkali-Akbar-Salim’ and felicitated theatre personalities Zohra Sehgal, Ebrahim Alkazi, Kabir Bedi and Roshan Seth, who began their careers on the capital’s stage.

'Cheeni Kum' (2007): This is not your typical Bollywood romance—and that’s both good and bad. Good because it’s a realistic portrayal of a flawed man and woman working to overcome their differences. Bad because the love story is too mundane. Buddhadev Gupta (played by Amitabh Bachchan) is a grouchy 64-year-old chef in London who falls for Nina (Tabu), a 34-year-old tourist from Delhi. The immensely talented lead actors give respectable performances as their very ordinary characters grapple with the predictable challenges of a May-December romance. But it is the supporting actors who really make the movie worth watching. Paresh Rawal, one of India’s best comedic actors, brings much-needed levity to the film as Nina’s father, who is six years younger than her suitor and who opposes the match. Zohra Sehgal, a spry 97-year-old actress who plays Buddhadev’s mother, is delightful as always.
