Some Hollywood psychologists are recommending deep breathing exercises. Others are suggesting just stepping away from political news for a while. But all the mental health experts The Hollywood Reporter consulted after Donald Trump was elected agree that the population of this blue city is suffering from mood indigo and anxiety. "One woman told me, 'I just keep pulling over to the side of the road and bursting into tears,' " says Larry Shaw, an L.A. psychotherapist who treats producers, screenwriters and other professionals. The reactions people are having go beyond the usual disappointment and upset felt by their

Plot:
Disaster strikes when an Meta-Human with the power to feed on electricity drains him of his powers and causes a City-wide blackout, meanwhile the Central City Police station endures a hostage situation curtsey of the Clock King.
Verdict:
So this week the Flash dealt with the dreaded two villain formula (something that fans of live-action superhero movies/tv shows usually worry about) and considering the track record with the majority of the rogues that have appeared on the show thus far (their powers were certainly impressive to watch), I have to admit that it was worrying to hear that was what the show was doing with this episode.
But the series has in fact pulled it off very well as we saw it’s version of Blackout (a DC comics superhero that in this iteration was a villain) and...

The Flash, Season 1, Episode 7, “Power Outage”
Written by Alison Schapker & Grainne Godfree
Directed by Larry Shaw
Airs Tuesdays at 8pm Et on the CW
This week, The Flash goes up against Farooq (guest star Michael Reventar), a metahuman who must harness electricity in order to stay alive. During their battle, Farooq attacks The Flash and siphons all his powers. Meanwhile, Tockman leads a coup inside the Central City police department and takes several people hostage, including Joe and Iris.
With great power comes great responsibility. We’ve heard it time and time again, and while many superhero stories emphasize the burden of that responsibility, “Power Outage” takes a very different approach. This week, Barry admits that he loves being The Flash. We see it early on in the episode, when Barry uses his super-speed to cut through a lineup at a coffee shop, than later on when he laughs in...

Pi Day, the annual March 14 math-centric holiday, will be celebrated across the country on Friday.
Happy Pi Day
The number Pi, approximately 3.14, represents the mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It’s used to determine the area of a circle and the volume of a sphere, among other mathematical calculations.
While Pi Day has been celebrated by enthusiasts for decades, the House of Representatives officially designated March 14 National Pi Day in 2009. Larry Shaw (above), who previously worked at San Francisco’s Exploratorium, is thought to be the first person to make the date a celebration of the mathematical constant. His first Pi Day was in 1988.
To this day, the Exploratorium takes Pi Day seriously. They even have a Pi Procession in which participants carry the first nine digits – not just the first three – of Pi. On Pi Day, men, women and children...

Smash, Season 2, Episode 3: “The Dramaturg”
Written by: Bryan Coluboff
Directed by: Larry Shaw
Airs Tuesdays at 10pm (Et) on NBC
Smash, you make it incredibly difficult to love you. You have a whole audience who turns in each week just to hate you, and you neglect your loyal liege who will sing and dance to every musical number. After last week’s dismal ratings and poor reviews, it’s trying not to want to jump off this sinking ship. Going into episode three, it’s only hopeful that the new promised changes would make a noticeable impact; regrettably the result may be a mess that’s worst than the first season.
This episode is aptly titled “The Dramaturg”, because Eileen feels it is necessary that Bombshell get a fresh perspective in the form of a professional dramaturg, Peter Gilman (played by newcomer Daniel Sunjata). This sends Julia in a...

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

Going into Sunday's (May 15) "Desperate Housewives" season finale, Tom (played by Doug Savant) and Lynette's (Felicity Huffman) marriage is at a crossroads. While we've seen them have conflicts over work before, we've never really seen them go at it as we did in the last episode.
"For seven years," Savant tells Zap2it. "This character has jumped through every hoop Lynette has asked him to jump through and he's done jumping through hoops. He's done exactly what she wanted and she's going to have to adjust."
We talked to Savant about the history of Tom and Lynette's marriage leading up to the fragile state we'll find them in the finale, what he wants for his character, and what we can expect in the finale.
Let's start with a couple great lines from the last episode. First, Lynette said, "You're not the CFO of this household!" Tell me about the significance...

In 1989 San Francisco physicist, Larry Shaw, invented Pi Day. Every March 14th (3.14), thereafter the holiday has gained popularity until, in 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution officially recognizing National Pi Day (because, apparently, they had nothing better to do with their time). But ever since its inception (yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaahhmmmmmmm) in 1989, the concept of Pi Day has been closely associated with the consumption of pies. According to that sterling source of information, Wikipedia, Larry Shaw and his physicist friends marched around in a circle and then ate fruit pies. In fact, I think it's pretty clear that Larry Shaw just invented this day in order to have an excuse to eat pie. Everyone loves puns. Especially puns with a flaky crust.
This begs the question, which homophone is more deserving of celebration? Pi/Math, the building block of the universe? Or pie, which is crazy delicious? Let's break it down.

Surfing was still a strange and exotic art in 1961, when Mike Nader, Duane King, and Larry Shaw escaped their troubled homes for the beach at Malibu. Becoming acolytes to the dashing, lawless Miki Dora, the three boys found themselves at the crest of a craze sparked by one of the girl surfers on the scene, whose father wrote the novel Gidget about her obsession. Sheila Weller revisits an underground culture of big waves and wild times, which ended in a blaze of Hollywood decadence, drugs, and death.

"To Be Continued…" That dreaded bitch-slap that appears at the end of your favorite show. We got that moniker at the end of last night's Desperate Housewives and thank God that we only have to wait a week, because imagine if we had to wait the summer after last night's cliffhanger… Anarchy!!!
Well, I think the "anarchy" will come when The Vampire Diaries end this week, but I digress… On to the recap!
Susan's Bullying Gets Her Nowhere
After looking over Mike's bill and his income, Susan can't figure out how Mike got so behind in his payments and is flabbergasted when he reveals that he didn't charge half his clients. Hmmm… Mike, man, you need a come to Jesus talk. Mike claims that he can't get the people to pay up now cause times are hard. Tough luck, kid. So Susan then thinks that she should be to one...
