QVC is bowing to the prevailing demographic trends with the launch of a massive business and programming initiative targeted women over the age of 50.
The home shopping stalwart steered is introducing “The Age of Possibility” marketing and programming campaign highlighting female celebrities and leaders age 50 and over who are demonstrating the third act that modern women are experiencing.
The list includes such boldface names as Martha Stewart, Queen Latifah, Naomi Watts, Christina Applegate, Billie Jean King, Patti Labelle and Sherri Shepherd and prominent executives such as Dentsu’s Diane Epstein and Liberty Media’s Renee Wilm. Lifetime is known for its original 'Ripped From the Headlines' movies that retell the events that grip the nation and even the world.
If you have ever seen one, you know it can be challenging to get over the low-budget production and corny writing, but that's part of their addiction.
They tend to get filmed quickly, air quickly, and hire people looking to make a breakthrough acting debut.
However, the astonishing cases they feature are the ones that had a stranglehold over the media for their horrifying uniqueness, and the ones we recommend have some surprisingly big names.
These movies somehow come together in a way that makes them 'so bad, they're good,' just like the breeds of dogs that are 'so ugly, they're cute.'
No matter which side of the fence you may land on, here are the Lifetime movies that genuinely hit the mark.

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Susie Essman spoke out for the first time on Monday about the real-life vandalism of her HBO billboard in Los Angeles, saying the fact that it was graffitied with penises just like in the comedy’s final season was “hilarious.”
“Somebody thought that I would be upset by that — I thought that it was hilarious!” she told “Sherri” host Sherri Shepherd. “I was laughing all day long when I saw that. I thought it was so funny.”
The vandalism came earlier this month in response to the plot of a “Curb Your Enthusiasm” episode, which sees the character Susie starting her own caftan business and buying a billboard ad. On the show, the billboard is soon defaced with what Essman described as “male bodily parts” — of course, to her character’s dismay and Larry David’s joy.

‘Secret Invasion’ premiered last summer, receiving mixed reactions. Despite criticism for its rushed and nonsensical adaptation of a popular Marvel comic storyline, the show garnered nominations for several smaller awards. Despite the show’s flaws, the cast delivered outstanding performances, leading to Don Cheadle winning the NAACP Image Award for Best Supporting Actor in his role as James Rhodes. Rhodes’ storyline, revealing him as a Skrull, was somewhat predictable, with suspicions arising even before the show’s release.
Additionally, Sherri Shepherd hosted a gala event recognizing talent across 20 categories. Cord Jefferson and Ava DuVernay secured Image Awards for outstanding screenplay and best director respectively. ‘Abbott Elementary’ received two awards, alongside other successful productions such as ‘The Color Purple,’ ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,’ and ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.’ Notable winners also included Chloe Bailey, Ayo Edebiri, and Keith Powers.
Shepherd was honored with the Outstanding Talk Show Host Award, thanking everyone for her journey.

‘Secret Invasion’ was released last summer and the reactions to it were mixed at best. The show failed to properly adapt a famous comic storyline and was widely criticized for being nonsensical and rushed. Still, this didn’t mean that the show wouldn’t be nominated for plenty of smaller awards. Despite the criticism of the show, the cast remained superb and due to that Don Cheadle in the role of James Rhodes recently won the NAACP Image Award for best supporting actor in the show.
Rhodes was part of a somehow predictable twist that he was a Skrull all along, something that was suspected even before the show was released.
Sherri Shepherd hosted a gala event honoring talented individuals across 20 categories. Cord Jefferson, fresh from winning an Oscar, scooped the Image Award for outstanding screenplay. Ava DuVernay claimed her third Image Award for best director. ‘Abbott Elementary’ snagged two awards,...

Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show paid tribute to one of its top executives following his death earlier this month. The show ran an In Memoriam tribute card for Matt Uzzle, the executive-in-charge of the syndicated talker, during the February 15 episode.
Uzzle was found dead February 13 at his Piermont, NY home. The cause has not been revealed, but it is believed he died of an apparent suicide.
At the time of his death, there were reports of a financial investigation at the show, and, according to Page Six, Uzzle was a target of the probe. Overseeing the show’s budget was among Uzzle’s responsibilities, according to the publication.
A spokesperson for Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury released a statement to Deadline Friday confirming the investigation. “Debmar-Mercury has retained Morgan Lewis to help us investigate the matter and, pending the outcome of that investigation, will have no further comment,” the statement read.

It’s been two years since The Wendy Williams Show officially wrapped its run. The syndicated series aired its final show — without host Wendy Williams, who has been out of commission with various health issues for months, on June 17, 2022. Wendy guest host Sherri Shepherd took over the time slot with a new talk show, simply titled Sherri. Ever since the talk show ended, Williams has become a bit of a recluse due to ongoing health conditions, and her time away from the screen is set to be explored in Lifetime’s upcoming two-part documentary. Here are some Wendy Williams Show moments from the show’s 13-year run we still can’t get over. Many were offensive, some were moving, and one was somehow both frightening and funny — if we have the, ahem, liberty to say so. When she said Beyoncé “can’t talk” In December 2012, Williams said she would be...

The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner has won over the hearts of millions on his quest to find true love. The ABC series premiered September 28, showcasing Turner, a widower looking for love out of 22 women aged between 60 and 75. He seemingly has audiences eating out of the palm of his hands thanks to his stand-up guy portrayal and “mature” outlook on love. Even Sherri Shepherd knighted him as an official sex symbol. But what if Turner isn’t as altruistic as he’s letting on? What if he very well knows the position he’s in and is taking advantage? What if he’s a 72-year-old Scott Pilgrim? Two weeks ago, Gerry revealed that he was in love with both Leslie, a 64-year-old fitness instructor from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Faith, a 60-year-old high school teacher, before eliminating the latter Thursday night during the live “Women Tell All” episode. In last week’s penultimate episode,...

Tina Knowles is spilling some tea on the Renaissance World Tour!
The mother of Beyoncé made an appearance on a Renaissance-themed Halloween episode of Sherri with host Sherri Shepherd, and she even dressed in one of her daughter’s actual looks from the tour.
During the nearly six months-long tour, Beyoncé wore so many different looks, but Tina revealed that they had even more that didn’t make it to the stage!
Get the scoop inside…
“She told me that she wanted to have more than one stylist, and I actually hired four people,” Tina shared on Sherri. “It would have been impossible [with just one]. We had over 600 costumes to choose from, and so she still has maybe 150 costumes that she hasn’t… But every night, she did at least five, four to five new costumes.”
Tina even joked that she should’ve hired fans to do costumes because of the looks people put together to attend.

Halloween has arrived, and celebrities have gone all out to dress up as other pop cultural icons. The SAG-AFTRA guidelines for Halloween this year advised members to not post photos of costumes inspired by struck work on social media, to choose costumes inspired by generalized Halloween tropes or to dress up as characters from non-struck content like cartoons or other animated TV shows.
“SAG-AFTRA issued Halloween guidance in response to questions from content creators and members about how to support the strike during this festive season. This was meant to help them avoid promoting struck work, and it is the latest in a series of guidelines we have issued,” the guild said in a statement.
But not all actors complied.

Former “Daily Show” correspondent Roy Wood Jr. has defended Hasan Minhaj, saying that last month’s “embellishment” controversy should not take the “Patriot Act” star out of running to become the permanent host of the Comedy Central series.
“I don’t believe Hasan could never host because of his situation. I don’t necessarily agree with that,” Wood told Variety on Wednesday. After a New Yorker article last month questioned the truth of his stand-up routines, Minhaj admitted to making up or embroidering stories of racial harassment that supposedly happened to him.
“I definitely think there is a place for him to clarify his intentions, but nothing about what Hasan did, none of it has to do with the content he presented on ‘The Patriot Act,’” said Wood, referring to the show Minhaj hosted on Netflix from 2018 to 2020.
“Can he show up and do the job? I say yes,” Wood insisted.

Sherri Shepherd staged a View reunion by having Joy Behar on Sherri on October 11, and the former co-hosts shared a shocking story about the late Barbara Walters and Richard Pryor during their interview. The daytime talk shows sidelined by the Writers Guild of America strike are making moves to resume production now that a tentative agreement has been reached between the writers and the AMPTP.
