With a father born and raised in India, and a mother born in Austria, Sabine naturally took to the love of language, biracial ancestry and a creative passion to explore communication through the arts, most specifically theatre. Before graduating from NYU's Tisch School of Arts, Sabine attended The University of Michigan, as well as The British American Drama Academy in London. Further studies brought her to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford Upon Avon, England, studying with Ben Kingsley, Alan Rickman, Rosemary Harris, and Fiona Shaw. To further her education Sabine also studied Shakespeare at the prestigious Balliol College at the University of Oxford.
At NYU, Sabine collaborated with the acclaimed director Travis Preston and the celebrated playwright, Mac Wellman, which led to her to becoming an original founding company member of Jim Simpson's and Mac Wellman's award winning The Flea Theater in NYC. Sabine was one of the first "Bats", the Obie Award winning resident acting troupe of The Flea, primarily presenting new and experimental American voices of the downtown NY theatre world.
Before garnering roles in several made-for-television movies, Sabine made a name for herself through her notable guest appearances on several critically acclaimed shows including "Law and Order," "The Sopranos," "Charmed" "Las Vegas" "CSI" and "Dawson's Creek." Steven Colbert and Paul Dinello specifically created the role, Yasmine Sarong, for Sabine in the cult favorite television show, "Strangers With Candy". Most recently, Sabine joined the cast of "All My Children", playing the love-to-hate character Greenlee Smythe. Daytime Confidential honored her as 2007's top soap newcomer, stating "Sabine Singh possibly had the worst job of any newcomer... Filling the shoes and (sic) replacing a popular actress and an equally popular character. She jumped through every hoop imaginable and endured some of the worst backlash in All My Children memory with a smile on her face, a determination to do her best with what she was given, and never a complaint. Kudos to Singh for surviving 2007" Sabine's performance as Greenlee Smythe ultimately earned her a place on the shortlist for the daytime Emmy Award. However due to Rebecca Budig (the original Greenlee)'s return to the role of Ms. Smythe, Sabine's name was no longer eligible for consideration.
Sabine's favorite film work includes "Maryam", a movie invited to open the first annual Tribeca Film Festival where Sabine was honored to be a guest speaker, reflecting on "Maryam's" similar themes and cultural significance paralleling the events of September 11th, 2001. Sabine also had a starring role in the 2002 independent short comedy "The Fine Line Between Cute and Creepy," which received critical acclaim at film festivals across the nation.
