Exclusive: NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s new indie is forging a documentary about the longest-serving British player in NFL history, who was a victim of human trafficking.
Along with All3Media-owned North One Television, Improbable Media’s as-yet-untitled movie will tell the incredible true story of the life of Efe Obada, who joined the Dallas Cowboys nearly a decade ago and played for the Washington Commanders in 2023.
At 10-years-old, Obada and his older sister were sent by their mother to the UK, believing she was giving them a better life, but ultimately became part of the millions of people worldwide trapped in the world of human trafficking. Abandoned and living illegally in South London, Obada overcame the area’s notorious gang culture and eventually found American football at the age of 21. A New Year is just around the corner, and Netflix’s upcoming roster of Original titles includes over 100 returning shows that will be back for new seasons. Some Netflix shows remain unclear on whether they’ll ever return, and in the case of the below, we suspect they’ve all been quietly canceled.
For these shows, we refer to them as ghost canceled. This means they’ve been effectively canceled behind the scenes but haven’t been publicly announced. These announcements are either because Netflix won’t confirm or nobody behind the show publicly announced the cancelation.
As always, cancelations are due to a number of reasons. With a few of these, it’ll be purely down to the length of time since the last season premiered, and then you’ve got the usual issues of performance.

Netflix has released the first trailer for “Murderville,” the new crime comedy series starring Will Arnett.
The series is adapted from the BAFTA award-winning BBC3 series “Murder in Successville,” which was created by Andy Brereton and Avril Spary. Arnett stars as Terry Seattle, a senior homicide detective who is paired with a different celebrity guest star to solve a murder case in every episode. The show’s twist is that the guest stars aren’t given a script, forcing them to improvise their way through the case and ultimately guess who the killer is at the end of the episode.
The trailer shows Arnett’s Seattle interacting with his guest stars, coaching them along as new developments in the absurd cases reveal themselves.
“You’re supposed to gasp,” Seattle deadpans to guest star Kumail Nanjiani after an officer declares there’s been a murder. “Weird gasp,” he mutters when Nanjiani follows his instructions.

By: Dan Moore “I’m just a doctor. I don’t even know what kind of doctor I am. I think I’m a brain surgeon.” That’s how Rob Huebel described the character of Dr. Owen Maestro, a character he’s portrayed through seven seasons of Adult Swim’s “Children’s Hospital” and now on Netflix’s “Medical Police.” This quote pretty much sums up the whole vibe of Netflix’s new comedy/action/thriller “Medical Police”. It may sound outlandish, but it actually works. Especially with sidekick Lola Spratt (Erin Hayes). The characters find themselves in the most intense situations that should be taken seriously until they start bantering back and forth. Leaving the viewer to never really know what to expect, in a good way. The show was created by Rob Corddry, David Wain, Krister Johnson, and Jonathan Stern. The show was scored by composer Matt Novack.

Normally, describing a show by saying that it flings everything it can against the wall is not a compliment. With “Medical Police,” it’s some of the highest praise you can give it. The latest comedy series from the braintrust behind the long-running “Childrens Hospital,” this new venture takes a pair of that show’s mainstays and thrusts them into the world of high-stakes international infectiology.
When a deadly virus is unleashed in various major metropolitan areas around the world, doctors Lola Spratt (Erinn Hayes) and Owen Maestro (Rob Huebel) become the only two people with the knowledge, skills, and disregard for conventions of storytelling to be able to thwart this evil plan.

We chat with Erinn Hayes and Rub Huebel, the stars of Netflix’s bonkers Childrens Hospital spin-off, Medical Police.
Adult Swim has been the home for many influential pieces of alternative comedy, but Childrens Hospital is a series that helped the fledgling network establish their brand. The Dadaist comedy helped bring live-action to the programming block as well as an enviable cast and crew of comedic talent.
Childrens Hospital was a jewel in Adult Swim’s line-up for the seven seasons that it ran. 1. “BoJack Horseman” Season 6, Part II (available January 31)
Why Should I Watch? Offering an incomparable blend of laughing ’til you cry and weeping from deep, emotional distress, “BoJack Horseman” is wrapping up its potent, perfect series this month. After its eponymous star (voiced by Will Arnett) went through a successful stint at rehab in the first half of Season 6, the back half will test his newfound resolve as past mistakes come back to haunt the man-horse. Whatever’s in store from creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg and his excellent production team is bound to be intense, so strap in and take it slow. The very best aspect of splitting the final season in two is allowing us to savor the wide array of emotions “BoJack” so beautifully evokes.

Bergen’s script for the series earned her one of five coveted spots in Aaron Sorkin’s Master Class on screenwriting. She previously wrote for the go90 series “Zac & Mia” and also worked on Tig Notaro’s Amazon series “One Mississippi.” She is repped by Verve, Mosaic and Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown.

Britt Baron (Glow), Eliza Coupe (Future Man, Scrubs), Billy Merritt (Happy Endings), Dave (Gruber) Allen (Love), Alison Rich (The Goldbergs), Carl Tart (Comedy Bang! Bang!), Samm Levine (Freaks and Geeks) and Rizwan Manji (Mr. Robot) have rounded out the ensemble cast of Crackle’s Rob Riggle’s Ski Master Academy, which has begun production in Malibu.
In the eight-episode series, Riggle, who is mostly known for his legendary ski master movies, has invested all of his money and reputation into an Academy celebrating America’s truest art form – personal watercraft riding. Rob, his legendary stunt man commandant Dirk Hamsteak (Merritt) and their entire staff of instructors spend a semester defending their beloved Academy at all costs. No matter how many people criticize it… go missing…or die!

Since Burning Love burst onto Yahoo in 2012, Jonathan Stern and Keith Quinn have served as executive producers for some of the web’s funniest shows, including Hulu’s Hotwives, Fullscreen’s Filthy Preppy Teen$, and the video on-demand special Beef. These shows have often featured the same comic actors within their respective casts, and two of those stars -- Rob Huebel (Human Giant) and Paul Scheer (The League) -- are the co-creators of Stern and Quinn’s latest concoction, a Go90 series called Drive Share.
Drive Share takes places within the cars-for-hire of a fictional ridesharing app called Drvshr. While that in itself is not the most novel idea for a web series, Drive Share manages to be particularly funny by adopting a “semi-scripted” approach and letting the skills of its talented cast members shine through. The first episode, for example, features Huebel, Love’s Claudia O’Doherty, and several...

I can’t believe there are only two more weeks of new Rectify episodes until there are none, ever again. While last week’s episode was wrought with hope and positive changes for most of the main crew, this week was their “equal and opposite” reaction (Physics….get it?). Emotions were running high as each character began to deal with their issues, some in more productive ways than others. Either way, Rectify remains compelling as ever as its final season winds to a close. This week on Rectify: Teddy begins to spiral as his future, both personally and professionally, becomes more uncertain. Jon Stern and Amantha see each other

Daniel Holden may be a free man of sorts, but his legal case continues. In this exclusive clip from Wednesday’s episode of “Rectify” (above), Sheriff Doggett (J.D. Evermore) calls Jon Stern (Luke Kirby) over under mysterious circumstances, then pointedly refuses to discuss why only seven out of 20 kids were questioned the day after the murder of Daniel’s (Aden Young) high school girlfriend, Hannah. Also Read: 'Rectify' Season 4 Trailer: Here's Your First Look at How It All Ends (Video) But it turns out, the sheriff, who has always had conflicted feelings about whether Daniel really committed the murder,...

In my early days on the beat, NBC had an ad campaign encouraging people to watch summer reruns, promising, "If you haven't seen it, it's new to you!" In the age of Peak TV, that slogan seems less cynical than accurate. The rise of streaming services has put the bulk of TV history only a click or two away, which means that people are constantly discovering The Wire, or Arrested Development, or Terriers (sigh) for the very first time. In lieu of a summer rewind this year, I wanted to offer up primers of shows you can stream, whether an older series available in full(*) or something current you can catch up on before its next season begins. So far, I've done a pair of current shows in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Halt and Catch Fire, plus completed shows in United States of Tara and Flight of the Conchords. (*) Note: with these picks,...

In May 2007, Rob Corddry was out of a job for the first time in years. He had just left a plum correspondent role on “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart,” to headline Seth MacFarlane’s first live action comedy, “The Winner.” But that sitcom was cancelled after six episodes. Then, the television writer’s strike hit.
“I had nothing to do and no money and a baby,” Corddry told IndieWire. “Luckily, we were allowed to do Internet stuff during the strike.”
That led Corddry to create “Childrens Hospital,” the absurdist hospital drama satire that began as a web series on the now-defunct TheWB.com in 2008. Adult Swim then picked it up, and “Childrens Hospital” ran for seven seasons and 86 episodes before wrapping up in April.
“Children’s Hospital” received four Emmy nominations this year, the most of any show in the expanded short form programming categories. “It always just seemed beyond a possibility to me,...
