Fran Tarkenton was born on February 3, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia, USA. He is an actor, known for Hill Street Blues (1981), 1st & Ten (1984) and Saturday Night Live (1975). He is married to Linda. They have one child. He was previously married to Anna Elaine Merrell.
Started the opening game of his rookie season (1961) with the Minnesota
Vikings and tossed four touchdown passes in a 37-13 win against the
Chicago Bears.
Former NFL pro-bowl quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings renowned for
his "scrambling" ability. Hall of Fame NFL Quarterback with the
Minnesota Vikings ('61-'66, '72-'78) and the New York Giants ('67-'71).
Played in three Super Bowls with the Vikings and was a broadcaster for
NFL Monday Night Football (1970). An astute business man, he has made a fortune in the private
sector.
In his final NFL season (1978), he led the NFL in pass completions
(345), attempts (572), and passing yards (3,468), and tied for second
in touchdown passes (25). On the downside, he threw 32 interceptions.
He held the NFL record for most career touchdown passes, with 344, until Dan Marino broke it.
