Amanda Holden has raised eyebrows with her “bizarre” tribute to Paul O’Grady, who has died, aged 67.
The Heart Radio presenter reacted to news of the TV host and comedian’s death while co-hosting her show with Jamie Theakston on Wednesday (29 March).
Holden, who appeared alongside O’Grady on an episode of his ITV series For the Love of Dogs in 2021, said she was in “complete shock” over the news.
She called him “really funny” and “very witty”, stating that “everything that came out of his mouth was brilliant”.
However, Holden then said: “Do you know what I loved about him? He was not woke in any way. He had massive opinions on everything, which, I love people like that.”
Listeners have taken umbrage with Holden’s use of the word “woke”, arguing it was out of context and had no place being used for such a tribute.

The singer-songwriter made an appearance on the Heart Breakfast Show to promote her new song “You Only Love Me,” during which she confirmed that she and partner Taika Waititi did, indeed, tie the knot.
“Yes. Here we are,” Ora said when Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden asked her if she was married. “They say everything happens for a reason. I am officially off the market, people.”
She went on to explain that they had a “perfect” wedding that was “exactly how I wanted it,” without elaborating much more.
“It was just nice and perfect,” the singer said. “Completely how I wanted it — just to myself sometimes. It was really sweet. … Sorry, it’s not that interesting! One day, we’ll throw a big party. I’ll figure out the time to have a big, big party.”

Elton John has said that he collaborated with Britney Spears in hope of building “momentum” for her to return to music.
Last month, Spears released her first single in six years, a cover of John’s 1971 single “Tiny Dancer” called “Hold Me Closer”. The track is currently at No 3 position in the UK charts.
Appearing on Heart Breakfast on Tuesday (6 September), John told Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston that he hoped the success of the single would be the catalyst for Spears to release more music.
Holden asked John if it had been his husband David Furnish’s idea to collaborate with Spears to “boost her confidence”.
“Yes, absolutely,” John replied. “He said, ‘Listen, why don’t we do it with Britney?’ And I went, ‘Wow, that’s a bit out of left field, but what a brilliant idea.’”
He continued: “’A) I would love to help her and get her back to recording.

Harry Styles isn't holding back on speculation surrounding his new music. During an April 1 appearance on Heart Breakfast, the 28-year-old heartthrob revealed that it was the voice of his 5-year-old goddaughter Ruby Winston—daughter of British filmmaker Ben Winston—at the beginning of his newly released single "As It Was." "it's my goddaughter at the start of the song," he told hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston. "That streak of calling me every night before bed and I missed it once and she wanted to let me know that she was quite angry with me about it. And then I dug it up in the studio one day and added it to the...

It's the one habit that won't go away. When it comes to Katy Perry's love for Orlando Bloom, there are many things to admire including the important fact that he's a great dad to their 17-month-old daughter Daisy. But just like in all romances, not every partner is perfect. While appearing on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden on Jan. 17, Katy shared one of her biggest pet peeves in regards to her fiancé. "He loves to floss, which, thank God, because some partners don't, and it's disgusting and he has brilliant teeth," she shared. "But he leaves the floss everywhere." Any and all neat freaks, say it together:...

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

The X Factor final is always great in its own right, of course, but one of our favourite things about it is all the things that go with it. The baffling Lord Mayors on awkward live link-ups. The moment when Greggs tries to make the finalists' faces in pizzas.
Basically, we're a fan of the sideshow. And today we were presented with a brilliant example. Thank you, Heart Radio, and thank you, Emma Bunton, and thank you, Jamie Theakston, for introducing us to this X Factor Christmas choir.
We're not entirely sure what they'll be singing but it honestly doesn't really matter because it is such a blast from a past (well, some are more recent than others...).
But the real question is can you name them all? Give it a go and click to reveal the answers...

It's a tough ol' time for the UK sitcom right now - even TV veterans can't seem to crack the genre of late. Ben Elton - he of Blackadder and The Young Ones fame - just spewed out the critically-mauled The Wright Way for BBC One, while over on ITV, luminaries of stage and screen Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Derek Jacobi are about to indulge in the dubious pleasures of Vicious - a catty comedy that feels like it was heading for 1974 and somehow got lost along the way.
The sitcom has always been a tough nut to crack, of course - this country has produced some absolute classics, but also some absolute stinkers. This week's Friday Fiver is all about the misfires, the failures, the disasters.
Heard the phrase "So bad it's good"? Well, this bunch of 'comedies' were just plain bad.

Woody Harrelson does a lot of work for charitable causes and, as he told David Letterman on "Late Show" (Weeknights, 11:35 p.m. Est on CBS), that includes playing the occasional game of soccer.
In 2010 Harrelson was part of the "Rest of the World" team playing England in a pro-celebrity match for British charity Soccer Aid.
Although he's an avid cyclist and generally super-fit guy, Harrelson said he's a pretty bad soccer player, so when his team was involved in a celebrity-only penalty shoot-out at the end, he was the last person they wanted to take a penalty kick.
However, after all the good players on his team -- including Michael Sheen (Wales), Mike Myers (Canada), Simon Baker (Australia) and Gordon Ramsay (Scotland) -- had taken penalties, the score was still tied at six. So Harrelson was put on the spot in the "sudden death" round of the shoot-out.

Dannii Minogue has admitted that she is concerned for X Factor finalist Matt Cardle.
The Australian star was seen choosing Matt for her final three acts on Sunday night and the former painter and decorator has become a firm favourite to win the series.
However Minogue feels that these sort of expectations, may work against the sexy singer.
Speaking to Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott on Heart 106.2 FM, Dannii admitted:
‘I think he’s a favourite. He has such a good voice. I guess the worry is when you come in with a really, really strong audition, can you maintain it? It kind of happened to Danyl last year.’
On why she chose Matt for the live shows, she added:
‘I love that falsetto in Matt’s voice… if we can push it into a new realm it would be great.’
Will you be voting for Matt this Saturday? Leave your comments below!

Simon Parkin first appeared on our screens in 1987, popping up from behind Andy Crane's chair to be unveiled as the cheeky new face of the Broom Cupboard. Sadly, his decision to leave Cbbc in 1992 for the new pastures of GMTV proved in the long run to be a wrong call. If he'd stayed put, he could potentially have landed the Live and Kicking gig and we'd all have been saved from Jamie Theakston - what a delightful thought! However, it's best not to dwell on where things went wrong for Parkin (he was spotted doing the weather reports at ITV Westcountry a couple of years back), but rather celebrate his years in the spotlight. Sexy British actress Joely Richardson insists she is single and separated from her on/off boyfriend, TV presenter Jamie Theakston.
