Some cliche somewhere said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’ This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. “Awesome Art We’ve Found Around The Net” is the outlet for that passion. In this column, I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That’s the aim. Paula Deen has been making headlines recently, after a deposition revealed her past uses of the n-word. Sponsors have been distancing themselves from Deen left and right, even after she apologized on "Today," but one person has come to her defense -- the Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr.
Jackson writes on Facebook that Deen should not be the "sacrificial lamb" of racial problems in this country. He adds that if she is willing to acknowledge mistakes and make changes, "she should be reclaimed rather than destroyed."
Jackson further writes, "Paula Deen represents a southern culture crisis but should not be used as a 'gotcha' solution to the deep problems of race disparities, jobs, access to capital and contracts, healthcare, voting and the criminal justice system. She may be a symbol of intolerance, but she is not a sacrificial lamb. Our problems are cultural and institutional."

People seemed to have a lot more fun on their adventures in 80s movies. Nowadays it's apocalypse this, aliens that, found footage here, found footage there, vampires wanna suck my blood, zombies wanna eat my brains, and "what did we do last night?" Even in bad situations, like being stuck in detention, people in 80s movies made the most of it. You wish you could dance in detention like they did The Breakfast Club! Marty McFly made the anxieties of time travel look like a jolly old time, and being out of breath all the time just meant he was getting in some good cardio.
Looking to relive those 80s films in real life? Artist Steve Thomas draws up some blue prints and lists the items you will need to have yourself an 80s movie adventure.
You may remember Thomas' work from his collection of Star Wars Travel ads. Postalgia,...

New Orleans -- A Louisiana appeals court has upheld the murder conviction and life sentence for rapper C-Murder.
C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, was convicted of shooting a teenager to death in 2002.
A three-judge panel from the state's 5th Circuit Court of Appeal on Wednesday rejected Miller's argument that he didn't get a fair trial.
In 2009, a jury convicted Miller of second-degree murder for shooting 16-year-old Steve Thomas during a confrontation at a nightclub.
Miller claims the judge who presided over his trial allowed jurors to hear prejudicial and unsubstantiated testimony that he threatened witnesses to the shooting. He also accused prosecutors of systematically eliminating black people from the jury.
But the 5th Circuit rejected those arguments.
One of Miller's attorneys didn't immediately return a call seeking comment Thursday.

Thinking of taking a trip to somewhere in the Star Wars universe, but can't decide on a destination? Maybe these retro 1940's style, Star Wars travel ads will help you choose your dream location.
Out of all these places, Dagobah is absolutely the place I would least want to go, but you can definitely sign me up for the Kessel Run tour!
The posters were designed by Steve Thomas. They were created two years ago for a web merchant that never came through for the artist. Thomas hopes this unnamed site will finally make them available for purchase.

Here's something that popped up on Twitter courtesy The Criterion Cast's Ryan Gallagher: a gallery of clever and very well-designed concert posters inspired by '80s Saturday morning cartoons, created by artist Steve Thomas. Here's the poster for Voltron's legendary gig at the Arus Colosseum:
Their encore was sick that night; Voltron turned into a giant guitar and then played himself. Epic. Be sure to check out Steve's full gallery, where you can also find links to where you can purchase prints.

Artist Steve Thomas has crafted some pretty awesome vintage propaganda posters. Each one of his posters are based on a retro video game. These posters win on two levels: one for the amazing Soviet Union/1950’s style art and two the clever sayings that go along with them. I seem to know all of the games they are based off of except the “End the Tyranny” one.

Three days after a Louisiana jury found him guilty of second-degree murder (twice, actually), rapper Corey "C-Murder" Miller was sentenced to life in prison on Friday (August 14).
According to The Associated Press, District Judge Hans Liljeberg gave Miller, 38, the mandatory life sentence following the onetime No Limit Records rap star's conviction in the 2002 shooting of 16-year-old fan Steve Thomas at a now-closed nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana.
Miller, who changed his rap name to C. Miller during the trial, was found guilty in the case on Tuesday morning, but Liljeberg made the jury return to deliberations because he suspected they had rushed their verdict to end deliberation. The rapper was convicted in 2003 in the same case but had that conviction overturned on appeal.

Us rapper C-Murder has been found guilty of second-degree murder following the shooting of a fan at a nightclub, says BBC News. The star, real name Corey Miller, had been accused of killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a Louisiana venue in 2002. He was convicted by a second jury on Tuesday afternoon, after the judge dismissed the original guilty verdict because of an allegedly questionable vote. He was eventually convicted on a 10-2 verdict. Three hours after a judge rejected their first guilty verdict, the jury in the trial of Corey "C Murder" Miller again found the former No Limit Records rapper guilty of the 2002 slaying of a New Orleans teenager on Tuesday.
The jury initially voted 10-2 to convict Miller on Tuesday morning, but Judge Hans Liljeberg rejected the verdict and ordered the jury to deliberate further, even though the voting margin was enough to convict the defendant of second-degree murder.
Miller's legal team requested a mistrial, but Liljeberg rejected that motion and pressed the jury to go back to deliberations. The New Orleans Times-Picayune vividly described the contentious scene inside the jury room, in which the jurors struggled for 13 hours over two days in deliberations that "degenerated into yelling, crying...

Former No Limit rapper Corey "C-Murder" Miller was found guilty of murder on Tuesday morning (August 11) — the second time the New Orleans native has been convicted for the 2002 slaying of a local teenager. However, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, in an unusual twist, the case remains open.
The presiding judge in the matter has rejected the guilty ruling by the jury and ordered the group to continue deliberating the case. The collective reportedly decided the rapper, brother of hip-hop mogul Master P, was guilty by a vote of 10-2. The margin signified enough to convict the defendant of second-degree murder.
Miller's defense team moved for a mistrial, claiming the judge was pressuring the jury.

Jon and Kate Gosselin and their eight children are back for a one-hour special -- and Et has the scoop. On Sunday, April 19 at 9 p.m. on Tlc, "Jon & Kate Plus 8" take part in a one-hour special in which they go green. Special guest Steve Thomas, the host of Planet Green's "Renovation Nation," teaches the Gosselins how to make their home more energy efficient, as well as more economical. Steve and his crew help the Gosselins transform their home into an "eco-savvy" dwelling by installing electric solar panels, solar thermal panels and solar powered lights along the driveway. It is also educational for the kids, who get to help with the projects, so they learn about the environment while having fun with their mom and dad. The fifth season of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" will premiere at the end of May.
