Damon Wayans Jr. has signed on to star in “Kill the Orange-Faced Bear,” the TBS comedy pilot about a man bent on revenge after a bear eats his girlfriend.
Wayans Jr., whose credits include the much-beloved “Happy Endings” as well as his disappearance and then reappearance on the hit “New Girl,” will be joined by Jessy Hodges (“Indebted”), Alex Karpovsky (“Girls”) and Nate Torrence (“Hello Ladies”).
Wayans Jr., who will also serve as an executive producer, plays Hank, described as a “charming, funny and grieving man who’s hell-bent on tracking down the bear who attacked his girlfriend on a camping trip.” “Kill the Orange-Faced Bear” will be told both from Hank’s point of view, as well as the Pov of the bear, “who is just trying to move on from the incident and navigate the other idiot bears in her life.”

Quinn Copeland, Lauren Donzis, Oliver De Los Santos and Noah Cottrell have been cast as series regulars in Peacock’s “Punky Brewster” pilot. From Ucp and Universal Television, the multi-camera/hybrid continuation of the ’80s sitcom follows Punky (Soleil Moon Frye), now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy (Copeland), a young girl who reminds her a lot of her younger self.

Exclusive: Quibi has greenlighted Nice One! a new comedy game show hosted by stand-up comedian, actor and writer Ron Funches. The competition features comedians attempting to cleverly out-compliment one another in a showdown of sweetness and consideration.
“I’m excited to bring the type of positive, optimistic and sharp humor I enjoy to Quibi,” said Funches. “In today’s world I think it’s important that we choose to look at the positives in life. That’s what I’m about and that’s what Nice One! is about.”

The project, which The Office co-creator co-wrote with former Office writer-producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (Bad Teacher), stars the 6′-7″ Merchant as Stephen, a gawky Englishman searching for the woman of his dreams in Los Angeles. Half as charming as he thinks he is — and twice as desperate — he’s obsessed with infiltrating the glamorous world of beautiful people. Unfortunately the beautiful people won’t let him in. Torrence, repped by UTA, manager Melanie Truhett and attorney Lev Ginsburg, will play Stephen’s best friend Wade who is reluctantly forced to re-enter the La social scene after his wife of 11 years asks for a separation.
