Crazy Legs Features has nabbed film rights to The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince, the bestseller from Mayte Garcia, chronicling her romance with the iconic musical artist, for development as a scripted biopic. With the WGA strike in the rearview mirror, the company is now in search of a writer to pen the adaptation.
The first wife of the superstar born Prince Rogers Nelson, Mayte’s bestseller offers a perspective on Prince through their intensely personal relationship that shows a depth and nuance never revealed of the famously private and beloved artist. The book’s title is inspired by the hit song Prince wrote about their legendary love story that started backstage at a concert. What began as a friendship between two artists blossomed into a romance, thrived as a fairytale from their wedding day, and then struggled due to the devastating losses that ultimately ended their marriage in 2000. This bizarre little creature feature was released in 2013 in the States and was directed by Jacob Vaughan (The Cassidy Kids). I was drawn to Bad Milo in the manner that I imagine many people were, the weird and corny synopsis and the silly poster artwork; and I watched this film without any level of expectation, the only way in my view to go into films like this one. The story is a strange one, and a daft one too for that matter…

One of my personal favorites from last year was Bad Milo!, co-written and directed by Jacob Vaughan. The film's titular butt demon was one of the most adorable little monsters in the genre's recent past, and it looks like Vaughan is once again headed into pint-sized creature territory...
Which is quite frankly music to my ears. Read on!
According to Bloody Disgusting Vaughan has just been attached to direct The Anklebiter, which was formerly titled Zombie Baby. Penned by Andy Jones, the film is set after the zombie apocalypse and centers on a young couple who take in an undead baby, finding themselves unable to kill it. Ah, the joys of parenthood.
The script was written several years back, and it was in fact included on the 2010 Black List, the annual roundup of the hottest unproduced screenplays in Hollywood.
Can't think of anyone more suited to tackle such a whacky tale than Jacob Vaughan,...

Here lately, Magnet Releasing carries the same clout with me as Cannon Films, New World Pictures, and Vestron Video. That’s not a slam. It’s a compliment of the highest order. Whenever I saw those monikers before any film, I knew I was in for some kind of genre masterpiece. Whether it be action, horror, or science fiction, it would be a movie that I and a several others (you know who you are) would harbor a clandestine love for until the internet and horror cons came along. That’s when we could go public and find kindred spirits that were states and countries away.

If you told me a movie about Ken Marino’s butt monster would be one of my favorite horror movies of 2013, I’d tell you, “Yeah, that sounds about right.” I mean, Ken Marino is one of the funniest character actors in Hollywood right now, I have a soft spot for practical effects driven creature features, and how are you not immediately intrigued by Ken Marino’s stinky, murderous friend? Bad Milo! charms and chills unlike any horror comedy released last year, and that’s thanks to a unique script that brings to life Marino’s subconscious in the form of an intestine-dwilling pet with a destructive mind of its own.
Bad Milo! will go down as a brilliantly worshipped cult comedy some years down the road, and there are two glaring reasons why – the most obvious being Ken Marino’s casting. You’ve seen him play supporting roles over and over again,...

I thought this would be an easier review, because I thought I had reviewed it before, back when I saw the screener around the time it was being unleashed on VOD. Turns out, my good friend and Tld badass Eric King(Brobocop) reviewed it for me, so I actually have to do a little bit of work. That’s okay, though, because Bad Milo was one of the gems of 2013, in my humble opinion. Bad Milo is one of those movies, that when you read the description, you think that no way will this movie be any semblance of good. You would think that, but you’d be wrong. I had an idea, what to expect, from a movie that was described to me as a story about an irritable man with a demon living in his intestines, that would come out through his anus when stress levels reach a maximum,...

*Updated with cover art* Magnolia Home Entertainment has announced that Bad Milo will be released to Blu-ray and DVD next month.
“Duncan’s (Marino) mounting stress starts to trigger an insufferable gastrointestinal reaction. Out of ideas and at the end of his rope, Duncan seeks the help of a hypnotherapist, who helps him discover the root of his unusual stomach pain: a pintsized demon living in his intestine that, triggered by excessive anxiety, forces its way out and slaughters the people who have angered him. Out of fear that his intestinal gremlin may target its wrath on the wrong person, Duncan attempts to befriend it, naming it Milo and indulging it to keep its seemingly insatiable appetite at bay.”
Directed by Jacob Vaughan, Bad Milo stars Ken Marino, Gillian Jacobs, Patrick Warburton, Mary Kay Place, Stephen Root and Peter Stormare. The movie will be released to both Blu-ray and DVD on January 21st.

Asscapade: Vaughan’s Body Horror Comedy Ripe for Cult Status
Destined for cult comedy status is Jacob Vaughan’s Bad Milo!, a ribald idea that threatens to offend the good tastes of polite society, but isn’t quite as shockingly daring as a written synopsis would seem to indicate. In essence, a film about an ass monster demon (yes, an ass monster demon) that is a literal metaphor of personified, repressed rage emanating from its host, Vaughan has made one of those movies designed to be an excellent ice-breaker in a crowd, not unlike Tom Six’s Human Centipede schlockers. But the point here is never quite fully formed and one gets the sense that the film doesn’t quite live up to its daring potential. Nevertheless, a handful of oddly bizarre moments coalesce to shape the semblance of working narrative, and though it perhaps takes itself too seriously, it...

In the new comedy-horror film Bad Milo! Gillian Jacobs plays the wife of a stressed-out white collar drone (Ken Marino) who discovers he has a demon living in his butt. Yes, you read that right — she spells her first name with a “g.” (Ha! But, seriously, that is who she plays in the film.)
So, what was the point in the Bad Milo! shoot when the Community star most thought, “I bet Dame Judi Dench has never had to do this”? “Throwing dildos at an ass-demon puppet,” laughs Jacobs. “And we shot in a basement of a church, which just...

"Bad Milo!" is a demented and dark midnight horror comedy about a stressed-out accountant whose spastic colon produces an avenging, predatory polyp. If the concept alone isn't funny, it's probably one you'll want to pass on.
When we finally get a glimpse at that "thing" growing inside of Duncan Haslip (Ken Marino of TV's "Children's Hospital"), we understand the hour-long trips to the toilet, accompanied by screaming.
It's big, bald and wrinkled -- E.T. with teeth and claws.
His doctor (Toby Huss) is reassuring. "You've got a thing in your butt," and it's due to "poor stress management." All Duncan had to do was dial down the stress and all would be well.
But he works for a creep (Patrick Warburton) who has moved him into human resources, where Duncan is now in charge of layoffs at his investment firm. The boss thinks it's cute to slip inappropriate articles into...

"You got a little trooper in your pooper," says Dr. Yeager (Toby Huss) to befuddled office drone Duncan (Ken Marino) at the start of "Bad Milo!" Groaning about his irritated bowls, Duncan looks about as freaked out to hear the news as anyone would after such an innocuous explanation. And that's before he figures out that the minuscule invader is actually a cannibalistic demon who has manifested in his intestines out of the frustrations he experiences in life, then proceeds to repeatedly escape Duncan's anus and kill off anyone who bothers his host. Let that sink in for a moment, because "Bad Milo!" actually succeeds in spite of its rampant stupidity. The key to this largely amusing and unapologetically silly gross-out romp is Duncan's continuing astonishment at the grotesque situation he finds himself in. While mercifully spared the physical anguish he experiences, we're more or less right there with him.

We like it when things exceed expectations, because it justifies our collective sense of childlike optimism. Life is awesome! Take that, Jonathan Franzen! And we also like it when things fail to meet expectations, because that justifies all of our worldly cynicism, making us into hardened, charismatic veterans of a disappointing existence, like Officer Murtaugh or Jonathan Franzen. But we hate those things that exactly match up with our expectations, like the food at Panda Express. Bad Milo!, directed by Jacob Vaughan, is about a man whose stress, fear, and anxiety manifest as a little demon that lives in his butthole. When he becomes emotionally agitated, he craps out his poo-covered demon—which looks exactly like the baby dinosaur from the 1990s sitcom Dinosaur...

In the campaign, the Diprimios’ describe Carver as, “a throwback 80’s style slasher that follows a group of teenagers who are haunted by a despicable act they committed on Halloween when they were younger.

In the horror/comedy game originality is everything, and luckily for Bad Milo!, there’s plenty of genre-mashing fun worth its weight in gold – shit covered gold that is. Usually it’s not good when a movie pulls half of its scenes out of someone’s ass, but in the case of this Ken Marino led creature feature, we’re actually excited any time our monster crawls out of our main character’s poop-shoot. Bad Milo! is a heartwarming story of love, dealing with your demons, murderous vengeance, and grossly inappropriate laughs. Sure, our little friend Milo may be bad, but Jacob Vaughan’s movie is oh-so-good.
Duncan’s (Ken Marino) life is a stressful one. He works a terrible, unfulfilling job, his wife is pushing for a baby, his mother constantly butts into his personal life, his father is nowhere to be found, and he’s just recently discovered...

It's not often that I enter a room and have one of my interviewees refer to titles like Pumpkinhead, Basket Case and Luther the Geek, but that's exactly what Ken Marino did.
The actor was out promoting Bad Milo, the horror-comedy now available on VOD, with co-star Gillian Jacobs (Community) last week and we had a chance to speak to the duo. The interview turned out to be a blast as we discussed the film's influences, the potential name of Jacobs' "ass monster" and what it was like working with a practical creature.
Bad Milo focuses on a fella (Marino) with intense stomach trouble who learns to his horror that he has a demon living in his intestines. When he gives it permission to come out during a therapy session, the man names it Milo and tries to live a life in which he, not his demon, is in charge.

Bad Milo
Written by Jacob Vaughan and Benjamin Hayes
Directed by Jacob Vaughan
USA, 2013
In an episode of Community, Britta (played by Gillian Jacobs) once said that an analogy is “a thought with another thought’s hat on.” It may be laboured, clumsy, and teetering on the gobbledygook, but what she said was not altogether incorrect. In fact, that’s pretty much the reason why the scene was funny. Jacob Vaughan’s Bad Milo, in which Jacobs co-stars, deals with a metaphor that, in its execution, feels very much the same way: laboured and ridiculous, but not altogether unfunny.
The film follows a mild-mannered but perpetually stressed accountant named Duncan (Ken Marino). He’s stressed for various reasons: he has constant and insufferable incontinence; he’s unable to conceive a child with his wife (Jacobs); and his crooked and insouciant boss (Patrick Warburton) is putting tremendous pressure on him at work.

"...'Ken' (Marino) is an average guy who works at an average office job. But he starts to get pains in his stomach whenever he feels stressed out.
"Things get worse every time he tries to just hide his stress, by burying it inside. It all comes to a head when that 'stress' is turned into an actual little beast that exits his body and takes revenge on the things that stress him out. But it soon starts to threaten the one thing he loves, his wife.

To remind you that Bad Milo has hit VOD today, a retro poster has been released by distributor Magnet Releasing.
It's appropriately very '80s, evoking the tone of the film and the movies that inspired it. Give it a look inside.
The film is the spawn of director and co-writer Jacob Vaughan, an assistant editor on Mark and Jay Duplass' Cyrus and Jeff, Who Lives at Home and the editor of Black Rock. And, thanks to his previous collaborations with the Duplass brothers, Bad Milo! was able to become a reality. Look for it in theaters October 4th.

Have you ever had simply the worst day? Not just a bad day, but a the worst version of any day imaginable. Perhaps even a series of them, one after another, until the stress has compounded multiple times over and literally hurts. You reach the point when you feel like you're just going to explode, but you don't. You hold it in. Writer/director Jacob Vaughan is here to warn you against that containment. It's not due to the risk of high blood pressure or an inappropriate outburst (so to speak). No, Vaughn wants you to know your stress could eventually manifest itself into a demon that crawls out of your butt and seeks revenge on your oppressors -- at least if you're Ken Marino's character in "Bad Milo!" There's really not much more to say about the SXSW entry from earlier this year. It stars the aforementioned Marino as the aptly named Ken,...

Jacob Vaughan's Bad Milo! (formerly known as simply Milo) recently got itself an official poster and it's pretty ridiculous. You can see a larger version inside. Magnet is handling the distribution.
Bad Milo! stars Ken Marino as Duncan, a stressed out exec whose high pressure life, including his manipulative, crooked boss (Patrick Warburton), his controlling mother (Mary Kay Place), her much-younger boyfriend, his wastrel New Age dad (Stephen Root) and the expectations of his sweet wife metastasize to create a gremlin-like creature that emerges from his poop chute to wreak bloody vengeance on everything that plagues Duncan.

Wow, what a treat this was! The best way I can describe Bad Milo is to take a pissed off Mogwai, shave him and remove his ears, then shove him up the asshole of Office Space -and I mean that in the most complementary way possible. It’s always great to go into a movie having no preconceived notions of what to expect and come out really satisfied. And Bad Milo does just that. The fact that a movie this outrageous is getting any type of theatrical release whatsoever puts a big damn smile across my mug!
The story goes like this- Duncan’s life is filled with stress and the shit is really bringing him down. His boss is a total sleazeball,...
