Revisiting The Box Office Failure Of Cirkus(Photo Credit –Facebook)
In the post-pandemic era, Ranveer Singh isn’t having the best of his time. Except for one successful film in the form of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the actor has failed miserably with all other releases. Out of all, the box office failure of Cirkus was indeed a nightmare for the makers, with its theatrical deficit well above 100 crores. Keep reading to know more!
Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film was an official remake of Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma’s Angoor (1982). Upon its release in 2022, the film opened to mostly negative reviews from critics, and for Shetty fans, it was a shocker as the biggie lacked humor and was unbearable, something which doesn’t happen with Shetty’s films.
The result of negative reviews was clearly seen through the disastrous box office performance of Cirkus. Right from the opening day,...

When nothing works, how to make things work? No filmmaker, nor trade pundits have ever been able to predict this. In fact, there have been many instances of some film critics who could not predict a film’s success after watching it! Let alone film critics, even distributors who rejected a film after seeing it, have been proved wrong. In those days, a film was open for all distributors to watch during various stages of its making or even when completed. Many a time, a film thus rejected went on to become a blockbuster.
There were no buyers for ‘Zanjeer’, the Amitabh Bachchan blockbuster. The producer had to sell it for a song where the terms let the distributor keep the entire profit, instead of sharing it 50-50 with the producer as per the norm.

RohitVerse
Rohit Shetty has created his own Universe, should we call it RohitVerse? The last scene of Cirkus brings a wide smile and takes you back to Rohit Shetty’s claim to fame ‘Golmaal’ franchise. How I wish if he can come up with a film based on this (you have to watch the last scene). Coming back to what you are here for and that is yet again a part of the RohitVerse with most characters that you have seen in previous Rohit Shetty films probably leaving aside just the two leading ladies (Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez). After Ajay Devgn, it seems we will get to see Ranveer Singh too as a fixture in RohitVerse.
Cirkus
Set in the late 1960s and said to be inspired from Shakespeare’s ‘The Comedy of Errors’, which was earlier adapted by Gulzar as Angoor (1982) featuring Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma in double roles.

Now we hear that Shah, who gave the multi-talented actor Deven Bhojani his first big role in television serial 'Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka', has now signed him to direct his first Bollywood film. The talented actor Deven Bhojani who made waves with his classic performances on TV will now be seen directing a completely fresh romantic comedy for Shah. A source close to the team said, "Vipul Shah always believes in giving new talents a chance. Deven has already directed TV series 'Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai' which had become a rage amongst the audiences. Adopting an ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach, the hit trio of Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh and director Maneesh Sharma, reunite to deliver the follow-up to Band Baaja Baaraat. Arriving exactly a year after their surprise blockbuster, to say expectations are high for Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, would be an understatement.
Add to this, the fact that producer Aditya Chopra is involved and this is a Yash Raj Films project, and you can see that the said ladies and Ricky have their work cut out in meeting the demands of the audience.
Will the ‘rom-con’ match the earlier success of Bbb? Does Ranveer justify the hype of being the next big thing? Can the lead pair recreate the scorching celluloid electricity from their previous outing?
The film kicks off in Delhi. Con number one sees gym instructor Sunny (Ranveer) in outfits even Salman Khan would reject as tasteless,...

Post the humongous success of Golmaal 3, Rohit Shetty has surely become one of the most sought after directors in Bollywood. While Rohit's next two films are the remake of Singam (starring Ajay Devgn) and Bol Bachchan (starring Ajay Devgn & Abhishek Bachchan), the buzz is that Rohit is even planning a film with none other than Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh was mighty impressed with Rohit's work in Golmaal 3 and has shown interest in working with the talented director. While details about their project are still unknown, the strong buzz is that Rohit would be remaking the cult-classic Angoor with Shah Rukh Khan. Angoor, released in 1982, was a laugh-riot that featured Sanjeev Kumar, Deven Varma and Moushmi Chatterjee in lead roles. Comedy being Rohit Shetty's forte, it would be interesting to see how the director tackles this subject that too with the Baadshah of Bollywood.
