We should go ahead and rename December 12th “Arrow Video Day,” because the fine fiends over there have a ton of titles coming out this Tuesday, including Special Edition sets for The Premonition and Malatesta’s Carnival of Blood, and they’ve also put together standalone special edition Blu-rays for both House and House II: The Second Story. Severin Films is resurrecting Asylum this Tuesday, and fans can finally get their hands on the latest season of Game of Thrones, as well as a box set featuring every episode from all seven seasons.
Other notable releases for December 12th include K-Shop, Once Upon A Time at Christmas, Brackenmore, The Snake Woman, Beware the Lake, and Hollow Creek.

Hey Lrm Weekenders, this week we're featuring some of the most intriguing, powerful, and successful women in Hollywood. Its easy to become fixated on our male action stars, since that's how Hollywood tends to market their films, so we sometimes fail to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of our female action stars! But first, we want to discuss the elephant in the room: the dwindling audiences at movie theaters -- we'll explore some problems, one potential solution, and hopefully provide some insight into an issue that's only going to get worse if everything remains status quo.

Long live Michael Laughlin. Two years after he released one of my favorite early ‘80s oddities, Strange Behavior (I wrote about it here), he was back to unleash the next chapter in a proposed ‘Strange’ trilogy, Strange Invaders (1983). And while the former is a tribute to Mad Scientist films of the ‘50s via an updated Slasher take, the latter tips its fedora to the great Alien Invasion films of the same era. It may not reach the same dizzyingly weird heights, but Strange Invaders is an affectionate romp that captures the feel of those bygone drive-in classics and solidifies Laughlin’s unique voice.
A co-production between Emi Films and Lone Wolf McQuade Associates, Strange Invaders was released by Orion Pictures in mid September stateside to positive reviews and lackluster box office. Returning only a quarter of its $5 million plus budget, this was the Way of the Laughlin – everyone liked his movies,...

In my mind, I have always found Exorcist III not only scarier than the original film. Ever since I saw the film on home video in the 90’s, I think the film becomes even more haunting as I get older. Later, I heard that Blatty, the author of The Exorcist and the writer/director of Exorcist III, had to re-shoot an ending that included an exorcism which was mandated by the studio. For years, a “director’s cut” has been on the whispers of genre fans worldwide. Late last year, I found a tasty morsel of information that this rumored “director’s cut” was happening. Bigger genre sites picked it up immediately after our little site was the first to dig up the info from the source, TheNinthConfiguration.com, some credited us to finding the info and bringing it to the attention of many, most of the sites didn’t attribute us.

From Bananaman to Grange Hill, join us in a spot of TV nostalgia as we celebrate 50 great 1980s kids' TV theme songs...
There comes a time to turn away from the horrors of the world and retreat underneath the soft, comforting duvet of nostalgia. That time is Friday. That metaphorical duvet is below.
Here are fifty of the best kids’ TV theme songs (spread over two pages and in arbitrary order) of the 1980s. Some, like Alan Hawkshaw’s distinctive Grange Hill intro, are unarguable classics of the era, while others, like Mike Harding's Count Duckula, only started in the late-eighties and spent the rest of their run in the next decade.
Obviously, there being only 50 on this list, we may have missed out your favourite (deliberately or otherwise). Let us know if so, but remember that links may take a while to appear in the comments thread because...

On October 26, 1984, James Cameron’s The Terminator stormed into theaters and instantly captured the imaginations of an entire generation of filmgoers who may not have realized the true impact Cameron’s independently-made passion project would continue to have on Hollywood and pop culture for decades to come.
Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Michael Biehn, Paul Winfield and Lance Henriksen, The Terminator was a huge success when it was released, taking the number one spot at the box office for its opening weekend against fellow newcomers, Body Double and Terror in the Aisles. The Terminator also enjoyed a lengthy theatrical stay as well- 12 weeks- which gave the buzz surrounding Cameron’s groundbreaking film plenty of time to continue to spread throughout the Us.
It’s no exaggeration to say that The Terminator changed the landscape of filmmaking and is probably one of the most influential pieces of cinematic sci-fi to have ever been created.

Sky has won a High Court case after being accused of plagiarism with its show Must Be the Music.
Waif Productions co-founders Brian Wade and Geraldine Perry had accused the broadcaster of stealing their idea for the 2010 show, which saw contestants battling it out with original songs.
The duo alleged that Must Be the Music ripped off their format The Real Deal, which would see contestants performing original songs for a panel of songwriters, with the songs available to download after each episode.
However, Broadcast reports that Mr Justice Birss found in favour of Sky.
"Sky's evidence was cogent and taken as a whole presented a clear and persuasive picture," he said. "I find that Must Be the Music was created entirely independently of The Real Deal."
Meanwhile, a Sky spokesperson said: "We are pleased that the court has found that Must Be the Music was independently created, as we have maintained throughout.

Sky is being sued over its 2010 reality show Must Be the Music.
The competition - hosted by Fearne Cotton and judged by Jamie Cullum, Sharleen Spiteri and Dizzee Rascal - saw contestants battling it out with original songs, which were available to buy after the episode had aired.
The show ran for just one series before being dropped by Sky because of its cost and low ratings, with Cullum later suggesting that the format "wasn't cruel enough".
However, Waif Productions co-founders Brian Wade and Geraldine Perry have filed a lawsuit claiming that the format was their idea, Broadcast reports.
The duo say that they had the idea for a talent show featuring original compositions, with songwriter judges and the ability to download the songs after the show.
A Sky spokesperson confirmed that the broadcaster will fight the lawsuit, saying: "A format infringement claim has been brought against Sky relating to...

The thing that I gripe about the most when discussing books in the New 52 is continuity. The problem goes deeper than just individual writers alluding to pre-New 52 events (either inadvertently or deliberately), but also from multiple books including the same characters. Keep in mind that in this volume of Batman, Bruce Wayne has only been wearing the cape and cowl for five years. This is why The Zero Year is going to be refreshing, and not just another redundant origin tale. So Batman has been fighting crime in Gotham for five years, but what about the villains which he fights?
Snyder tackles some of the larger continuity errors that continue to plague the New 52 by focusing on what the villians have been up to in Gotham. He retells Clayface’s origins briefly enough so as not to distract from current events, while also adjusting Karlo’s...

Batman 19
Writers: Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV (backup)
Penciller: Greg Capullo, Alex Maleev (backup)
Cover: Greg Capullo
Publisher: DC
After the grieving and emotional turmoil of the previous issues, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo reunite to tell a Batman detective story. However, they don’t have Batman completely recover from Damian’s death. There’s a poignant early scene between Alfred and Batman where Batman is watching footage of an old mission in his cowl where Alfred thinks that Batman is losing himself because of Damian’s death. Capullo does an excellent job of capturing the complicated combination of grief over both Waynes that Alfred feels through facial expressions. Fcd Plascencia is back with a black and grey color palette to show the characters are still in mourning.
Capullo’s art really captures the dual life of Batman and Bruce Wayne in this book. He gets to draw an epic...

Developer Pop Quiz is a weekly interview series in which we ask developers from around the industry the same 10 questions and post their responses.
It's always inspiring to see someone go from playing a game that they love, to working on it, and that's exactly what happened for Firaxis Games' Brian Wade. "Civilization" is one of the most sprawling, robust games ever released, and it just keeps getting bigger with each iteration, and the latest release, "Civilization 5," is leaps and bounds different from the "Civ 3" closed beta that was Wade's break into the industry, and his story of how he got there is proof that persistence pays off.
