Oscar-winning John Wayne was one of the biggest stars ever to work in Hollywood, which made sellers on Pawn Stars believe that they could make good money from his memorabilia. In the spirit of the reality television show, many items aren’t valued at the price that they’re thinking. However, Wayne’s son, Ethan, himself showed up as an expert in what fans are calling the best guest appearance ever in an odd Rio Grande dealing.

Pawn Stars attracted several pieces of Wayne memorabilia, although they didn’t all attract the same level of attention. Surprisingly, a senior-year high school yearbook earned $800 for the seller to take a nice vacation with. It highlighted the various extracurricular activities that he filled his time with over the course of his adolescence.

The enduring legacy of actor John Wayne, America’s ultimate cowboy, will be celebrated this month, fittingly enough, by the Cowboy Channel in association with the John Wayne: An American Experience museum in Fort Worth, Texas. The “Duketober” celebration is a month-long airing of classic John Wayne movies via broadcast and streaming. It will culminate with a 50th anniversary live panel discussion on Nov. 3 in remembrance of Big Jake, the 1971 movie that bought Wayne together with sons Ethan and Patrick, who will participate in a discussion about his films and career. Wayne’s legacy has taken a few hits in the last couple of years. A 50-year-old Playboy magazine interview outlining some of his controversial views on race surfaced, sparking his USC alma mater to remove an exhibit on him. There’s also a movement to remove his name from the Orange County airport. So far, that action has failed to gain ground.

The USC School of Cinematic Arts will remove an exhibit devoted to actor John Wayne, a USC student and football player in the 1920s, after months of insistence from students denouncing the Hollywood star’s on-the-record racism and the portrayal of Indigenous Americans in many of his films.
The removal was announced today by Evan Hughes, the school’s Assistant Dean of Diversity & Inclusion.
“Conversations about systemic racism in our cultural institutions along with the recent global, civil uprising by the Black Lives Matter Movement require that we consider the role our School can play as a change maker in promoting antiracist cultural values and experiences,” said Hughes in a statement. “Therefore, it has been decided that the Wayne Exhibit will be removed.”
The exhibit’s material – posters, movie memorabilia, personal items – will now be housed in the school’s Cinematic Arts Library for research and scholarship, along with other Hollywood artifacts.

John Wayne’s son Ethan Wayne defends his father by saying that he “was not a racist” and would have “pulled those officers off George Floyd” in an interview with Fox News on Monday after a movement had been made to rename a California airport named after him. He stated that renaming the airport would be […]

The Duke's head gear from The Green Berets and The High and the Mighty.
By Roland Schaefli
“This is crazy”, Ethan Wayne whispered, as the bids in the auction started to climb way over the estimates. The youngest son of movie legend John Wayne and other members of the Wayne clan were present at the Beverly Hills auction on Oct 6th, announcing that this would be the once in a lifetime shot for fans to get a piece of the Duke, “and we’re not going to do it again” – and still, they could not imagine that the fans would dig so deep in their pockets to collect their father’s artifacts. The total of the two day sale eventually exceeded $5.4 million, a portion of the proceeds of which will fund the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

Los Angeles - An auction of John Wayne memorabilia raised more than 5.3 million dollars, with part of the proceeds going to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, the auctioneer said Friday. Among the highest selling items were the green beret that Wayne wore in the 1968 film The Green Berets, which fetched 179,250 dollars, a record for a costume hat. Wayne's Golden Globe trophy for True Grit sold for 143,000 dollars. More than 700 on-screen outfits and personal items of the iconic actor were put up for auction by John Wayne Enterprises and Heritage Auctions. 'This was all about my father's fans,' said the actor's son, Ethan Wayne. 'He loved his fans almost as much as his family, and...

Hollywood icon John Wayne's youngest son has teamed up with auction company Heritage to offload a treasure chest of the famous movie cowboy's memorabilia.
Ethan Wayne, who heads up John Wayne Enterprises in California, is planning the first single-owner auction from Wayne's personal collection, which will take place in Los Angeles next month.
Among the highlights going under the hammer are the actor's Golden Globe for the original True Grit, one of his eye patches from the movie, plus numerous hats, costumes and scripts.
The items will be exhibited for fans in Dallas, Texas, New York and Los Angeles before the auction itself at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel on 3 to 6 October.
Ethan Wayne, an actor and stuntman, admits it was tough selecting which items to auction off.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "No matter what you do, someone is going to be looking over your shoulder saying that it's great that you are allowing it to go and another person is saying that it's horrible, how can you do that? Yes, the Golden Globe is going but the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Oscar are not going. We are keeping some scripts and letting some go."...

Ethan Wayne, the son of John, has announced that John Wayne Enterprises will be auctioning off a huge collection of John Wayne memorabilia this Fall. True, the prices are expected to reach amounts as high as $50,000, but in comparison to say, a life-size Darth Vader, many of these items are actually functional and practical, and could potentially improve the owner's life many times over! Let's take a closer look.

A standoff is underway between several members of John Wayne 's family -- with his son and daughter battling each other over millions. It's all over The Duke 's estate -- worth somewhere between $10 and $15 million ... depending on which kid you ask. In legal papers, filed Thursday in L.A. County Superior Court, John's daughter Aissa Wayne claims she wants to sell her share of the estate -- and another one of the The Duke's kids,...
