Walton Goggins Says Making ‘The White Lotus’ Is ‘Meta on Every Level’: ‘We’re Guests…Playing Guests’
Walton Goggins has been around for a while. His first credited acting roles date back to 1992, when he would’ve only been 21, and his supporting turns on FX’s “The Shield” and “Justified” helped him craft an image that appealed to the likes of big-name directors like Quintin Tarantino and Steven Spielberg. Goggins, now 52, is taking on roles he never would’ve dreamed of, like his standout performance as The Ghoul in Amazon Prime’s television adaptation of the “Fallout” video-game series and an upcoming role in the highly anticipated third season of HBO’s “The White Lotus.” However, in a recent interview with the LA Times, Goggins remembered a time in his career where his success wasn’t looking like a certainty.
“I was talking to my agent,” Goggins said, reflecting on a lull in work, “and asked him, ‘Why is it so hard?’ And he said, ‘It isn’t hard,...

As of Friday, Patrick’s Roadhouse was still closed. Plates and pitchers were stacked inside. The old-style coffee maker seemed ready to go, and there were even some bright green lights shining along the roof. But the place looked like a radioactive version of the Spanish Kitchen, frozen in time, plus dinosaurs, leprechauns and the Statue of Liberty on top.
Anyway, the eviction notice plastered among the stickers and shamrocks told the tale: Another stop on Hollywood’s erstwhile schmooze circuit has been gone since late April, and will stay gone unless the proprietor can come up with back rent and renegotiate the lease on a diner that’s marked the seaside end of Santa Monica Canyon since 1973. (There’s a GoFundMe campaign to help.)
Maybe it’s just part of the general Restaurant Apocalypse. Within a hundred yards of Patrick’s, Tallula’s, Mason and The Hungry Cat are all closed and empty.

The next season of Survivor looks to have a familiar face, with former Obama administration speechwriter and Pod Save America co-host Jon Lovett seemingly among the contestants for season 47.
During Wednesday night’s finale of season 46 of Survivor, CBS’ teaser ad for the next season featured Lovett, although none of the contestants were named and there has been no official confirmation. Lovett’s inclusion was confirmed by his former Obama administration colleague and fellow Crooked Media founder Jon Favreau on X (formerly Twitter), who quote tweeted the ad with the words “What did I tell you? Eat Pray Lovett.”

As far as modern animated franchises go, Despicable Me is undoubtedly one of the best-known and most lucrative ones in history. It all began in 2010 and now, 14 years later, we have three main movies, two spin-off prequels, numerous shorts, and an upcoming fourth movie, Despicable Me 4, which is set to be released in theaters on July 3, 2024. Now, the premiere is not that far away, so we already know a lot about the upcoming movie, but Illumination has today blessed us with yet another trailer, which you will be able to see below!
The Despicable Me series focuses on the villain Gru and his henchmen, the Minions; Gru initially aims to become the world’s most feared villain, but his story changes as he encounters three orphan girls named Margo, Edith, and Agnes, who soon become his adopted daughters and change his plans. The Despicable Me movies always do very well at the box office (even if the reviews haven't remained quite as positive), so it came as no surprise that a fourth instalment in Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's animated franchise was on the way, and a new trailer and poster have now been released.
Though Gru will appear, the Minions have really become the main focus of these movies, and there's plenty of fun to be had with the little yellow fellas in this latest teaser, which sees several "volunteers" transformed into super-powered Mega-Minions.
One gains stretchy abilities like Mr. Fantastic, another is a clear not to The Thing, and there's also a Minion with Cyclops-like optic blasts.
Check out the new trailer and poster below, and let us know if you plan on catching this one on the big screen.

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have released the final trailer (we think?) for the latest entry in the Despicable Me series, Despicable Me 4, premiering in July.
With the release of The Fall Guy last week, summer blockbuster season has officially arrived, which means lots of eyes are looking at the year’s biggest and splashiest projects and watching how they perform commercially. One such set of eyes will be those of Universal Pictures, who will be keen to retain its crown as the studio that grossed the most money last year and as such, the performance of its biggest movies will play a key role.
Whilst the jury is still out on whether The Fall Guy will be numbered among its successes, hopes will be high that Despicable Me 4 – set to release in July – will be a strong addition to Universal’s balance sheet. After all, 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru...

One of the downsides of streaming’s cord-cutting era has been how hard it is to stumble on a great movie midway through. You know the joy of which we speak. After a long day at work or school, a moment to unwind turns into discovering one of your favorite flicks, that one you’ve probably seen a hundred times, is playing right now on cable. And wouldn’t you know it, you’ve come across it right at your favorite bit.
Before you know it, you spend the next 90 minutes catching up on a film you already have half committed to memory. It’s a perhaps uniquely dated phenomenon, but a great one for those of us who have entire personal libraries of movies that we may never have seen from beginning to end. I spent years, for example, convinced Con Air started with Nic Cage enunciating, “I said...

Who doesn’t love Carrie Coon? For those of us lucky enough to see her star-turn in Steppenwolf Theater’s production of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” during the early 2010s — a production that also earned her the affections of her now husband, Tracy Letts — there’s always been a slight obsession with her rise to fame. She stunned us in “The Leftovers” with her complex portrayal of a woman who’s lost everything and is dying to feel again. She broke our hearts in Season 3 of “Fargo” as a cop unable to make sense of a world that keeps getting crazier. Now in “The Gilded Age”, she is serving us glamor, history, and a healthy dose of petty vindictiveness. With her role in the latest installment of “The White Lotus” on the horizon, one can’t help but wonder if the sky isn’t the limit for this constantly evolving talent.

After the end of strikes, agents, managers and producers quickly moved in to assemble high-profile packages to take out in what was expected to be a frothy marketplace following six months of inactivity. But, while there have been a few bidding wars and big sales with a couple of others pending, the level of demand has not been what many anticipated. The biggest casualty of the tight market — packages with A-list stars attached.
“This has been such a head-scratcher,” one agent said about the situation. Agencies are keeping record of all the star packages that went out and failed to draw interest over the past few months despite the level of talent that has included Oscar and Emmy winners and nominees in front or behind the camera, stars of blockbuster movies and iconic TV series and, in a couple of instances, famous IP. The total now exceeds 20.

In it, Gru (Steve Carell) teams with the villainess Poppy (Joey King) to steal a honey badger from a castle/private school. Two Minions and Gru’s baby son Junior are in tow. Calamity ensues as the honey badger awakes and creates havoc, with Gru getting hit in the butt with a tranquilizer shot.
Illumination Boss Chris Meledandri introduced the clip today at the Caesars Colosseum, thanking exhibitors for the sleeper success of his animation studio’s Migration ($293 million in box office).
“In case of any doubt, our commitment to produce original animation film remains steadfast,” said Meledandri.

Lukas Gage’s mom didn’t mind sitting through watching her son’s sex scene in White Lotus. In fact, she actually had some positive feedback.
While appearing on Live With Kelly and Mark on Friday, Gage was asked by Mark Consuelos what his mom thought about the raunchy scene, involving an intimate moment with Murray Bartlett’s character, from the first season of Mike White’s hit series.
“She loved it,” said Gage. “She didn’t care. She was like, ‘Go for it!’ My mom is really cool and understanding about that kind of thing.”
Gage continued, “She says I have the cutest butt in Hollywood, too.”
Elsewhere in their chat, Kelly Ripa said that in 2021, Gage crashed Paris Hilton’s nuptials. Gage clarified, “It was an accidental wedding crash. I did not know it was Paris Hilton’s wedding.”

In 2003, popular actor Jack Black found himself in the middle of the scandal of the century. He managed to squirm his way into a prep school under false pretenses, committed the misdemeanor of impersonating a teacher named Ned Schneebly for the sake of acquiring a little rent money, and led the students to an epic battle of the bands performance that we're still talking about over two full decades later. It was a whole big thing.
Obviously, "School of Rock" went down in history as one of Black and director Richard Linklater's finest moments, not to mention its impact on the ensemble of incredibly talented child actors, all of whom actually played their respective instruments in the film. In short, it was the pop-culture event that inspired a whole generation of kids to embrace their inner punk-rock anarchists, eventually leading to a Broadway musical adaptation and even a short-lived Nickelodeon series.

Jack Black recently told the news outlet Joe, while making the press rounds for “Kung Fu Panda 4,” that he is more than ready to make a sequel to “School of Rock,” the 2003 comedy classic that was directed by Richard Linklater and written by Mike White. Black has stayed close with his younger co-stars over the years, but a movie sequel has never gotten off the ground. “School of Rock” was adapted into a hit Broadway musical, but perhaps it’s time to get the band back together on the big screen.
“I wish there’d be a ‘School of Rock 2: Electric Boogaloo,'” Black said, referencing the 1984 sequel to the dance musical “Breakin’.” The comedian added: “I’m ready.”

Before he went on to make HBO’s hit series The White Lotus, Mike White would partner with Jack Black for the charmingly funny music-themed comedy School of Rock. The movie drew on Black’s affinity for the music genre as he would previously play as one-half of the rock duo Tenacious D with Kyle Glass. While he’s currently obsessed with Minecraft after his time filming the movie adaptation, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Black’s eager to return to the School of Rock for another movie.

Jack Black is totally down for a School of Rock sequel.
More than two decades after the beloved musical comedy, directed by Richard Linklater, premiered in 2003, the actor-comedian recently told Joe that he’s “ready” to reprise his role as energetic musician Dewey Finn.
“I wish there’d be a School of Rock 2 Electric Boogaloo,” he said, referencing the movie title of the 1984 sequel to Breakin’.
School of Rock follows Dewey, who became a substitute teacher at an uptight elementary private school after being kicked out of his rock band. But along the way, he tries to turn his class into their own rock band. The film also starred Mike White, Joan Cusack, Adam Pascal, Lucas Papaelias, Chris Stack, Sarah Silverman and Miranda Cosgrove.
Black also admitted that he would like to see the original film’s writer, White, return to pen the script for the hypothetical sequel. However, he acknowledged that White,...

Jack Black has officially expressed interest in making a School of Rock sequel, or as he quickly dubbed it, “School of Rock 2: Electric Boogaloo.”
Speaking with Joe, the Tenacious D frontman and Kung Fu Panda star lit up at the idea of returning to his School of Rock character Dewey Finn, though had one request should the project ever take shape — the involvement of original writer and White Lotus creator Mike White.
“Mike White wrote the first one, and he’s a genius,” Black said. “We’d have to have Mike White back in the saddle. But he’s real busy right now with White Lotus, the best show on TV.”
As Black pointed out, White is indeed quite busy with HBO’s The White Lotus. The show’s anticipated third season — which is to take place in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, Thailand — is currently slotted for a 2025 release.

One night, not so very long ago, Walton Goggins and Nadia Conners were getting ready to host a cocktail party for about 150 people when an elderly woman showed up outside their Los Angeles home. She was confused and disoriented, asking Conners to help open the garage door because her clicker wasn’t working.
“She thought she was home,” remembers Conners. “I looked through her phonebook, trying to find someone who knew her and who could help, but most of the people in it were dead. She had outlived her circle of friends.”
Later, after the police had arrived to help the woman, Conners returned to the party and shared what had happened with her guests. “I was telling this story and trying to explain to people why it had impacted me so deeply. The reaction was sort of like, ‘Great, you got her back home.'”

Casting for the third season of The White Lotus seems pretty locked in, but if Mike White needs any last-minute suggestions, then the new HBO farcical drama The Regime is a reminder of Kate Winslet’s impeccable comic timing and ability to ground even the most absurd dialogue. Seriously, book her into the luxe hotel — better still, as the next manager dealing with a coterie of awful guests. And if Mare of Easttown didn’t already exist, there would be a strong case for Winslet in the next rotation of True Detective pairings.

However, what some fans may not know is that the actor landed his role in Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender partly due to one of his own successful $215 million films!

Isaacs voiced the character Zhao in seven episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Nearly eight years later, he returned to the franchise for a cameo appearance as the same character in one episode of The Legend of Korra (set in the fictional world of Avatar: The Last Airbender).

Sydney Sweeney is the woman of the moment. As is, the actress is never completely off the radar of the tabloids because of her performance as Cassie Howard in the popular HBO series- Euphoria. She has been recently making headlines for her performances in the rom-com- Anyone but You and the superhero film Madame Web, which is set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.
While Madame Web has not done particularly well with the audience or critics, Anyone but You has done much better in both of these aspects. Fans found Sydney Sweeney’s chemistry with Glen Powell extremely captivating. This brings fans to the question of which actor is next for Sweeney to start an on-screen romance with. While there is no confirmed answer to this question, Sweeney has someone in her mind that she would like to star alongside in a rom-com.

Tom Hollander didn’t get into showbiz to play himself. He played a bumbling MP in In the Loop and a scheming socialite in The White Lotus. Most recently, he played the treasured author Truman Capote in FX’s Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, who slithers his way into high society New York, becoming a highly requested guest at dinner parties and resort getaways — only to have it all turn sour.
With the Hollywood magic stripped away, Hollander lives a reserved lifestyle. His home sits in the rural English countryside east of Oxfordshire,...

Exclusive: We have the first major cast addition for the upcoming fourth season of Only Murders In the Building. Molly Shannon has been tapped for a season-long arc on the mystery comedy.
Per usual, the producers are keeping the storyline under wraps but, as Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich revealed in a Deadline interview, the Only Murders In the Building trio of Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) will kick off the new season with a trip to Los Angeles before returning to The Arconia in their search of Saz’s killer.
I hear Shannon will play a high powered LA business woman who finds herself drawn into the world of the investigation in NY.
Shannon, a three-time Emmy nominee, spent six seasons as a member of the repertory company on Saturday Night Live, creating a gallery of memorable characters such as schoolgirl Mary Katherine Gallagher,...
