- Suffered from a disease known as sarcoidosis, which is disease of unknown origin characterized by the formation of granulomatous lesions that appear especially in the liver, lungs, skin, and lymph nodes. It is believed that this attributed to his death in December of 2004.

- The church where he was pastor was burned down by an arsonist. The event was broadcast on Unsolved Mysteries (1987). The arsonist is still on the loose.
- Defensive end for the USFL Memphis Showboats (1984); and the NFL Philadelphia Eagles (1985-1992), Green Bay Packers (1993-1998), and Carolina Panthers (2000).
- Recorded 21 quarterback sacks in just 12 games during the strike-shortened 1987 season en route to being named NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
- NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1985.
- Notched at least 10 quarterback sacks in every season from 1985-1993, an NFL record since 1982, when sacks became an official statistic. Recorded 198 sacks in his career, a record until Bruce Smith surpassed it in 2003.
- Voted to the Pro Bowl 13 times, and was named Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1987 and 1998.
- Twice came out of retirement: Retired after the 1997 season, but decided to play one more year before retiring after the 1998 season. Ended a one-year retirement to play for the Carolina Panthers in 2000, before permanently retiring after the season.
- The City of Philadelphia held a public rally in an effort to convince the Eagles to re-sign White in 1993. It was to no avail, as White signed with the Green Bay Packers.
- Won the Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers in 1997.
- Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
- During the historic, 2005 winning streak by Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos, the late Reggie White was named as one of the pro ball players it would have most wanted on their team.
