As an executive at 20th Century Fox, he saw an early screening of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) and liked the film so much that he told his family, "I want you
to remember this day because I just had one of the greatest experiences in my life".
Graduated from Oxford University in 1952 with a B.A. Honours degree in English literature.
He began his career as an agent in the London office of MCA in the late 1950s. He eventually founded an agency with Richard Gregson, Gregson & Wigan, which was sold to EMI in 1970.
