The WWE have made a name for themselves in the movie world with a spate of well-recieved action and horror movies, however that’s not the only types of filmic fare they’ve put their name to. Back in the burgeoning days of WWE Studios, the company put out a number of comedies and family-friendly films that – looking at the WWE’s cinematic landscape today – don’t quite fit the mold they have built for themselves.
Yet whilst the WWE have found financial and critical success with genre fare such as No One Lives, The Call, See No Evil 2 and Oculus, they haven’t forgot their family-friendly beginnings – producing animated movies with Hanna Barbera featuring WWE Superstars alongside iconic cartoon characters such...

Two decades after Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels’ endearingly dense pairing spun slapstick comedy into box office gold in Dumb and Dumber, the long-awaited sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, arrives on DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack and On Demand on February 17, 2015 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber; There’s Something about Mary; Me, Myself and Irene) the Dumb and Dumber To Blu-ray Combo Pack offers hilarious extra belly laughs including an alternate opening, deleted and extended scenes, and a multi-part feature that takes viewers behind the scenes of the no-holds-barred comedy.
The side-splitting sequel also stars Rob Riggle (The Hangover, 21 Jump Street), Kathleen Turner (Marley & Me, Romancing the Stone), Laurie Holden (“The Walking Dead,” Silent Hill), Rachel Melvin (My Funny Valentine, “Days of Our Lives”), and Steve Tom(“Major Crimes,” Seven Pounds).

The comedy landscape may have monumentally shifted in the time since the original Dumb & Dumber but great comedy never ages. 1994’s Dumb & Dumber is a genuinely funny film, on a re-watch last month I still laughed loudly at a great many lines and visual gags (personal favourite? “I’m talking about a place called Aspen” “I don’t know Lloyd, the French are assholes”), and the central performances from Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels manage to hit the line between charming and annoying exactly right. All this brings us to Dumb and Dumber To which finds the principal filmmakers in very different positions, Jim Carrey in need of a hit,...

Perhaps it's no surprise that this should be the dumbest comedy to come out of Hollywood in years. That's the point, you might say. But there's dumb, and then there is depressingly dumb. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels were loveable idiots when they first played Lloyd and Harry in 1994, but now they're older, none the wiser and needlessly abrasive, which takes the fun out of their stupid antics.
It's as if the Farrelly brothers are overcompensating; sharpening the daggers just a tad too vigorously to reclaim their place on the cutting edge of comedy, and yet this still feels dated two decades after the first Dumb and Dumber had audiences doubled over - not sure whether to...

There is a Dumb and Dumber cartoon. It is insane and it demands your attention. This may come as a shock if you weren’t watching animation on ABC in the mid-1990s. It was never exactly well-regarded, or even regarded at all. It was canceled after its first season, which ran from October of 1995 through February of 1996. Harry and Lloyd only managed to gallivant through 13 episodes before they were evicted from the screen until 2003’s ill-begotten prequel and, of course, Dumb and Dumber To. The characters, created by the Farrelly Brothers, have had quite a bizarre franchise history. That said, the Farrelly Brothers were not directly involved with Dumb and Dumber the TV series. It was their co-writer on the original film, Bennett Yellin, who stepped in to write the television series. It was produced by Hanna-Barbera, their last project for ABC. This was an important moment for the storied animation studio, which...

It only took 20 years for the Farrelly Brothers to come up with a true sequel to their 1994 hit, Dumb And Dumber, but as I say in my video review above, maybe they could have waited a while longer.
The film stars Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey as the dopey duo, this time trying to track down the long-lost daughter of one of them for a kidney transplant. From there, as they say, high-larity ensues.
Other notable cast members include Rob Riggle and Kathleen Turner, working from a script whose many credits include the Farrellys, Sean Anders, Mike Cerrone, John Morris and Bennett Yellin. The film is produced by the Farrellys, Riza Aziz, Joey McFarland, Charles B. Wessler and Bradley Thomas. Universal Pictures is distributing. The film hits U.S. theaters today.

Walking into the screening for Dumb and Dumber To I was really nervous. Was I about to get Phantom Menaced? After all, the first film came out when I was 11 and instantly became a favorite of mine. It sits somewhere in my Top 5 Comedies, alongside Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Blazing Saddles and a couple of others. Over the years, the original 1994 film has become a hallowed classic amongst the people that grew up with it. Now here I am, at 31, about to sit down and watch Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels revisit these classic characters in a new caper. Oh boy...
I have good news:
It didn't suck!
No, really, it didn't. Right off the bat, the laughs started coming and it was clear to see that Carrey and Daniels were giving their all to make this thing fly. Makes sense, too, considering they never had to make this at all.

Dumb and Dumber To

Directed by Bobby Farrelly & Peter Farrelly
USA, 2014
Once upon a time, the Farrelly Brothers constructed sight gags capable of reaching new heights (or depths, as the case may be). Right about the time Brett Favre was murdering comedy in There’s Something About Mary, however, they abandoned their bread and butter in favor of a “comic spaghetti” approach. Meaning, they throw as many gags at the wall as possible and see what sticks. Thanks to the comic chemistry of Carrey and Daniels, Dumb and Dumber To is just sticky enough to justify its existence.
It’s almost impossible to remember what a sensation Dumb and Dumber was back in 1994. Not only was it the driving force that introduced Jim Carrey to the world (along with The Mask and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,...

Former Mma star Gina Carano, who rose to fame following her starring role in Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 action-thriller film Haywire – although she had previously appeared in low-budget actioner Blood and Bone alongside Michael Jai White – returns to the action genre, and a leading role, with In the Blood, the latest film from actor/director John Stockwell (Cheaters, Crazy/Beautiful).
In the Blood sees Ava (Carano) and Derek (Gigandet), a newly married couple, honeymooning in the Caribbean who are befriended by a local hustler, Manny (Cordova), who talks them into going to a night club where they get into a fight with the locals. The next day, whilst out zip-lining with Manny, Derek gets into an accident and is taken to hospital. However when Ava shows up looking for her husband,...

Gina Carano is the only selling point that In the Blood, a predictable yet enjoyable action flick from Into the Blue helmer John Stockwell, really needs. After all, a hero who’s charismatic, easy on the eyes and capable of kicking some serious ass is hard to come by. Carano fits the bill quite nicely, and she’s the sole reason that action aficionados will (and should) check out In the Blood.
Starring as Ava, a newlywed with a rough past who goes on the hunt for her husband (Cam Giganet) after he disappears following a zip-lining accident on their Caribbean honeymoon, Carano gets her first real opportunity to prove herself as a leading lady (I’d argue that Soderbergh’s touch in Haywire made the film more about him than her). Luckily for In the Blood, there’s more to the actress than just her fists. Though the film’s script,...

Blood Crush: Stockwell Returns to Exotic Paradise for B Movie Thrills
Considering that In the Blood was scripted by James Robert Johnston (The Howling Reborn; Joy Ride 2) and Bennett Yellin (Dumb & Dumber films) plus directed by actor/director John Stockwell, you might be surprised at how competently structured it is, even as it operates solely on the fumes of generic derivatives, plumbing the depths of any number of B action film tropes. Cashing in on Gina Carano’s headlining presence, it can’t quite manage to escape feeling like the poor man’s version of Haywire 2, though an intriguing supporting cast distracts from the silliness of it all as it glides along to a truncated denouement.
Opening with Ava’s (Gina Carano) narration about how her father turned her into a brutal killing machine and how she remembered his death, a scene of brutal violence segues to 12 years later in Arlington,...

Though she first made a big pop culture splash as one of the new "American Gladiators" on NBC, mixed martial artist Gina Carano has become an impressive action starlet in films like Haywire and Fast & Furious 6. Now she's on her own again with In the Blood, another action thriller which sees Carano playing a trained fighter with a dark past. Suddenly, she finds herself caught up in a conspiracy on a tropical island when her husband vanishes on their honeymoon. And so, Carano is off to bust skulls, find her husband, and figure out just what is going on. It doesn't look very good, but Carano kicks ass. Watch below! Here's the first trailer for John Stockwell's In the Blood, originally from Apple: In the Blood is directed by John Stockwell (Blue Crush, Dark Tide) and written by James Robert Johnson & Bennett Yellin (Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead). Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) are back back back. We know this for sure because Carrey posted a couple of photos of the pair in costume as they began shooting Dumb And Dumber To. With Peter and Bobby Farrelly back directing, the sequel has now added Jennifer Lawrence and Rob Riggle.Well, we say Lawrence is aboard: she popped in to the Atlanta set to shoot a one-day commitment as a younger version of Katherine Turner’s character, Fraida Feltcher. Riggle, meanwhile, will be twins, appearing as both a handyman named Travis and his unstable brother, Captain Lippencott. The pair joins a cast that already includes Daniels, Carrey, Turner, Rachel Melvin, Laurie Holden, Steve Tom, Cam Neely and Lindsay Ayliffe for the story of Lloyd and Harry heading out to find Harry’s long-lost daughter to provide him with a kidney transplant. It’s been almost two decades since they first took to the screen, and now Harry and Lloyd are officially making their return with Jim Carrey sharing the first photo from the set of Dumb and Dumber To.
Talk of a sequel has been circling for years, and now it’s finally happening. The original was a lot of fun, the 2003 prequel (which featured a different cast) largely went unseen, and it’s going to be interesting to see how audiences receive the long-awaited sequel, twenty years on.
Jeff Daniels and Carrey are of course back once more as Harry and Lloyd, with Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) recently taking the female antagonist lead, alongside Kathleen Turner, Rachel Melvin, Cam Neely, Brady Bluhm, and Steve Tom.

It's been ten years since the disappointing prequel, Dumb And Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd. More importantly, it's been 19 years since Dumb And Dumber, the laxative-fuelled farce that made millions laugh uproariously (and want to buy a dog-shaped car) back in 1994. Next year comes Dumb And Dumber To, the long-awaited sequel from The Farrelly Brothers that reunites Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey with their alter egos, Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas. And if you were looking for proof that it's actually happening, check out Carrey's toothy grin above.Tweeted via his WhoSay account, it's the closest the world's come to a still from the project, which has gone through a long period of production trouble. At one point, Carrey didn't want to be involved, then Carrey was back in, then Warner Bros. pulled out, then Red Granite stepped in.. and now everything seems to be smooth sailing, with Sean Anders,...

Danny Trejo (Machete) and Stephen Lang (Avatar) are in negotiations to join Gina Carano (Haywire) in a new action thriller called In the Blood. The movie is being directed by John Stockwell from a script witten by Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston and then polished by Sean Finnegan and Gregg Parker.
The movie was set up for Mma champion Carano, and the story centers "on a wife whose husband disappears while they are vacationing in the Caribbean. The grieving wife passionately and recklessly pursues the men she believes kidnapped and killed him." So it's like Taken, but the badass character is a woman. According to THR, Lang will play Carano’s father, "who raised her to be skillfully self-sufficient and brutally tough." Trejo will play a thug named Big Biz who will face off against Carano.

It’s, in a word, perfect. Talk about Bobby and Peter Farrelly‘s sequel to their comedy classic Dumb and Dumber had just about reached Ghostbusters 3 proportions (a special new realm occupied by Kick-Ass 2 talk) back in June when Jim Carrey dropped out, but the pair seem bound and determined to make the film happen, and with both Carrey and Jeff Daniels back as Lloyd and Harry. Perhaps in a bid to get some real heat on the project, Bobby Farrelly fessed up to DigitalSpy some meaty details about the sequel, and they sound – this might sound crazy – actually completely spot-on. How often does that happen to a sequel? Straight out of the gate, Farrelly says that both Carrey and Daniels are set for this film, and gives fans the solemn vow that “we will make this movie.” Well, alrighty! But what’s it about? In regards to the screenplay, Farelly...

Although Steven Soderbergh's Haywire has essentially bombed at the box office, earning $18 million on a $23 million budget, it looks like Gina Carano may still have a career ahead of her as an movie star, albeit not an A-list one. The former Mma fighter will be receiving the inaugural Chick Norris Award at this year's ActionFest for Best Female Action Star of the year, and now it has been announced that she will also be starring in a new movie for director John Stockwell (Blue Crush). The movie is called In the Blood, and it is described as an action-thriller in the vein of Taken. The plot synopsis is as follows: "Blood is set in motion when a husband disappears while vacationing in the Caribbean with his wife, to be played by Carano. The recent action movie Haywire hasn't fared as well at the box office as it did with critics (though it has made back its budget), but its star, Mma fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano, has already lined up another action project.
THR reports that Carano has joined the cast of the action-thriller In the Blood for director John Stockwell (Blue Crush, the upcoming Dark Tide). Carano will play a wife whose husband disappears while vacationing in the Caribbean, so she recklessly pursues the men she thinks are responsible. "This role will showcase not only Gina’s fighting skills, but also her acting abilities as her character struggles to reign in her violent past," said Stockwell.
In the Blood was written by Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston (Joy Ride 2). Production is set to start in Puerto Rico in early spring or summer. Carano's Haywire stunt team is in discussions to reteam with her on In the Blood.

The critical reception for Steven Soderbergh’s “Haywire”, which sees Mma star Gina Carano make her debut acting performance as Mallory, has been generally very positive, with no less esteemed a critic than Dr Mark Kermode declaring it his movie of the week on its release. Carano has been much-lauded as well, managing to convince in the acting scenes as well as when kicking Michael Fassbender and Channing Tatum in their pretty heads.
It is good to hear therefore that Carano seems to have landed herself a follow-up role, this time in “In The Blood”, an action thriller to be helmed by John Stockwell, who has previously given us Crazy/Beautiful and Into the Blue. In The Blood will see Carano playing a grieving widow, whose husband is kidnapped and killed while they are on a cruise and who goes off in search of those she believes to be responsible.

After kicking major arse (and squeezing the life out of Michael Fassbender) in Haywire, Gina Carano has landed her next gig: she’ll star in John Stockwell’s action thriller In The Blood.Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston wrote the script, which finds a husband disappearing while on holiday with his wife in the Caribbean. Presuming that he’s been killed, the newly minted widow strikes out to pursue his kidnappers and bring them to justice. And by justice, we’re assuming she’ll punch them in the face so hard that their teeth shatter.“This role will showcase not only Gina’s fighting skills, but also her acting abilities as her character struggles to reign in her violent past,” Stockwell tells the Hollywood Reporter. We’re assuming that the man behind Blue Crush and Into The Blue was really just looking for an excuse to shoot in another tropical location.

Much of Haywire’s strength lied withing Gina Carano’s ability to kick the male cast’s ass. Carano’s acting ability was another issue. So while the movie itself couldn’t be as explosive at the box office as Carano’s fighting, the actress will get another chance to throw some punches in a new actioner titled In the Blood. The movie will follow Carano’s character a wife, who sets out to find her husband, when he is kidnapped by pirates while the two are vacationing.
The movie seems to be in the same vein of Taken, but rather than have Liam Neeson take the lead its Gina Carano who takes the generally male dominated role of kicking ass. Which is perfectly okay by me. According to THR, John Stockwell (Into the Blue, Blue Crush) will direct Into the Blood, using a script by Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston...

Gina Carano's acting was the weakest part of Steven Soderbergh's Haywire, but her physicality and an A-list cast made that movie worth watching. Though Steven Soderbergh's Haywire failed to catch fire at the box office, everyone agreed that debuting star Gina Carano established herself as a force to be reckoned with. And now the former Mma fighter will star in the action-thriller In the Blood, according to The Hollywood Reporter. John Stockwell is set to direct. Stockwell, himself a former full-time actor who first sat in the director's chair for 1987's Under Cover, parlayed the success of 2001's teen romance Crazy/Beautiful into a pretty decent career as the helmer of Blue Crush, Into the Blue, and Turistas. None of those are particularly original, but they show a distinctive flair for mainstream entertainment, even when the script lets them down. While audiences may not have flocked to it (their loss), Gina Carano proved in "Haywire" that she could be a compelling on-screen presence and one helluva of an action leading lady, a nice place to be, particularly when the industry has so few women in that role. And while we're unlikely to get any further adventures involving Mallory Kane, Carano has been recruited to crack some more skulls. The Mma fighter will continue her movie career by starring in the action thriller "In The Blood." Penned by Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston (the pair who brought you "Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead"), the story is said to be in the vein of "Taken" (of course), and will follow a woman who is vacationing in the Caribbean with her husband, when he suddenly disappears. She then goes on the warpath seeking vengeance against the men who she belives kidnapped and killed him.

While The Black List may be getting most of the press from entertainment news circles when it's announced in December, there's another compilation of the best new ideas and writing being offered to Hollywood movie studios and producers. It's called The Hit List (Thl), and it differs from The Black List in one fundamental way: whereas The Black List (Tbl) is a list of the top unproduced screenplays in Hollywood, several of the screenplays on that list have been purchased or are in development.
Take a look at last year's Black List (Part 1 is here, Part 2 is here) and here we are, one year later, and several of the scripts that made the 2009 list will be coming out in 2011 -- or have already been released (like The Social Network or Due Date). To hear the Farrelly brothers tell it, the idea for "Stuck on You" -- about a pair of conjoined twin brothers -- has been sticking around for 13 years, right around the time the filmmaking siblings wrote "Dumb and Dumber".
The stick-to-it-ive-ness may be admirable, but the extended gestation period hasn't resulted in a stronger comedy.
While it has its moments of pure Farrelly inspiration and swell performances from Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear (not to mention Cher and an uncredited Meryl Streep), the patented blend of the outrageous and the sweet that has become the brothers' trademark struggles to find the desired balance here.
This time, when in doubt, the Farrellys continually err on the maudlin side.
That kind of sticky stuff is not what the "There's Something About Mary" crowd has come to expect from the brothers, and, along with its slightly older-skewing cast, the film will probably be in the still-respectable "Shallow Hal" vicinity in terms of total boxoffice.
Joined at the hip for all of their 32 years, nonidentical Tenor twins Bob Damon) and Walt (Kinnear, who, in the poster looks more like Jeff Daniels' twin), haven't let their physical condition get in the way of living normal-type lives in their close-knit Martha Vineyard,'s Mass., neighborhood.
But when amateur actor Walt, who has just finished playing Capote in a local production of the one-man show "Tru" (with panic attack-prone Bob cowering at his side breathing into a paper bag), decides it's time to take his act to Hollywood, things keep finding a way of coming between them.
For one, there's Bob's surprisingly successful career, with him landing a dream gig playing opposite Cher on the hit TV drama, "Honey and the Beaze".
For another, there's May Fong (newcomer Wen Yann Shih), Bob's longtime Internet girlfriend who is still being kept in the dark as to why Bob and Walt go everywhere together.
Ultimately, the only resolution appears to be finally having the operation that will physically separate them, but with them sharing one liver that mainly belongs to Bob, there's a 50-50 chance that Walt won't make the cut.
It's easy to see why Bobby and Peter Farrelly initially responded to the idea (first pitched by Charles B. Wessler & Bennett Yellin) of brothers playing such an integral role in each other's lives, but, ironically, it might be their close proximity to the story's themes that keeps getting in the way of the comedy.
Every time inspired momentum starts to build, it's often thrown off track by bits of ill-timed sentiment. And that's never a good thing when you're dealing with what's essentially a one-joke premise.
The players are certainly more than game. While Damon and Kinnear navigate their imposing physical situation (effectively contained by special makeup effects supervisor Tony Gardner's clever prosthetics) with supple dexterity, Cher has evident fun playing off her diva image and Streep cuts loose as Kinnear's co-star in an all-singing, all-dancing (with choreography by director Adam Shankman) stage production of "Bonnie and Clyde".
