To most, Madonna‘s Like a Virgin was a fun slice of dance music. On the other hand, her father found it mortifying. He wasn’t any happier when pictures of his daughter appeared in Playboy. The “Express Yourself” singer once released a ballad about her father, and the picture it paints is not flattering.
Madonna’s father didn’t want to talk about ‘Like a Virgin’
During a 1991 interview with Rolling Stone, Madonna was asked about how her father, Silvio Anthony “Tony” Ciccone, reacted to a risque performance from her film Madonna: Truth or Dare. She avoided the question. “I don’t know if he’s seen all the other things I’ve done,” she said. “I’m sure when the nude pictures in Playboy and the album Like a Virgin came out, he went through a period of extreme shock.” While tame today, nude pictures and Like a...

Madonna and Marilyn Monroe would be compared to each other no matter what, simply because they are two of the biggest female celebrities ever. On the other hand, some fans claim that the similarity between the Material Girl and the Some Like It Hot star goes deeper than that. Madonna’s brother, Christopher Ciccone, had a different take on the situation.
Madonna’s brother said she’s not ‘self-destructive’ like Marilyn Monroe
Monroe’s influence can be seen throughout Madonna’s career. The “Like a Virgin” singer based her video for “Material Girl” on a scene from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, one of Monroe’s most famous films. Monroe is also one of several Hollywood stars mentioned in the lyrics of “Vogue.” The cover of Madonna’s greatest hits album Celebration is also based on Monroe, and the singer appropriated a famous sequence from The Seven Year Itch for her “Give Me All Your Luvin'” clip.

Madonna‘s “Material Girl” music video helped her meet Sean Penn. It also caused fans to compare her to another famous blonde. The Queen of Pop’s brother said that Madonna’s fans drew false conclusions from that music video.
Madonna met Sean Penn on the set of ‘Material Girl’
In his 2008 book Life With My Sister Madonna, Christopher Ciccone gave fans some fascinating insight into the “Material Girl” video shoot. “On the LA set of the ‘Material Girl’ video, as Madonna is sashaying down a staircase, decked out in a fuchsia satin replica of the Travilla gown Marilyn wore in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, she comes face-to-face with hot actor Sean Penn,” he wrote. “He is 24, she is 26, their birthdays are just one day apart, and — for both of them — it is love at first sight.

Madonna‘s first album included several of the most important songs of her career. One of the producers of the album was hurt by the way the Material Girl treated her. He had plenty to say about the character of the Queen of Pop. Notably, Madonna’s brother had a lot to say about that era of his sister’s career.
The producer of Madonna’s 1st album said she belittled his contributions
Reggie Lucas was one of the producers of Madonna’s self-titled debut album. He served as the producer of the two songs from the album that reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100: “Borderline” and “Lucky Star.” During a 2013 interview with The Atlantic, Lucas felt that Madonna had not given him sufficient credit for his role in her career.

Lady Gaga has been accused of “borrowing" a lot from Madonna. However, former artistic director Christopher Ciccone -- the Material Girl's brother -- says Gaga made a huge mistake not following his sister’s style.
“You have to remember what really made Madonna really popular is that girls could dress like her. You can’t dress like Gaga, only on Halloween perhaps. It's a really big part of being a performer -- getting your fans to follow you. You have to evolve. At one point with Madonna, it was time for the tights to go,” Christopher tells The Huffington Post. “What I would do with Gaga is stream it all down and get rid of all the crap and make her a real person. It's cool on some level, but when you start out massively way over the top, there is nowhere to go. You get stuck there and you disconnect from the audience.

Madonna's brother doesn't regret writing a tell-all book about her. Christopher Ciccone spent 25 years working with his famous sister before falling out with her after writing the revealing tome 'My Life With My Sister Madonna' in 2008 but the pair have now repaired their relationship and Christopher has no regrets. He told HollywoodLife.com: 'It was something I needed to do so I didn't go crazy. I needed to crawl out from that shadow. 'It's been a bumpy road back. It's a brother/sister thing now, which is great and where it needed to go.' The 51-year-old designer previously admitted it took time for Madonna, 54, to get over her upset about the book but ultimately he believes the experience has...

Being the brother of one of the biggest stars in the world -- Madonna -- hasn't been easy for Christopher Ciccone.
After arriving in New York City with his sister in the '80s, he's gone from being his sister's assistant, dresser, backup dancer, stylist, artistic director to director of her 1993 Girlie Show tour. They stopped speaking just before his memoir, "Life With My Sister Madonna," was released in 2008, and are now talking again. But after all these years, it’s still not easy for Christopher, or his dad and stepmom, to see Madonna expressing herself onstage.
“At this point, it's a little uncomfortable to see her almost naked, but really common,” Christopher tells The Huffington Post. “When I saw her last tour I thought maybe our father shouldn't see this. But they went to the show in Detroit. There is a photograph of Madonna lying on the floor basically naked and my stepmother's face!

It turns out that Madonna isn't the only creative style leader in the family. Her younger brother Christopher, who worked with his superstar sister for 25 years, speaks to HollywoodLife.com Editor-in-Chief Bonnie Fuller about his sleek new footwear. It isn't easy living in the very large shadow of uber star Madonna, but her brother Christopher Ciccone has broken out with his first collection of chic, graphic shoes and boots for men, women and kids -- Ciccone Collection. "I worked with designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Dolce & Gabbana, who created costumes for my sister's tours," Christopher, 52, explains about his only experience previously with designers, before taking the reins himself. But clearly, a 'fabulous' style gene runs in the family because his new leather and rubber footwear looks so good, we bet Madonna can hardly wait to get the box of shoes and boots her brother is sending her. Anthony Ciccone, 55, is one of many homeless people flocking to Michigan's Traverse City. We're guessing, though, that he's the only one who can claim pop superstar Madonna as a sister.
Ciccone tells The Michigan Messenger that he's been on the street for a year-and-a-half since losing a job at his father's vineyard (which does in fact market a bottle called "Madonna Wine").
"My family turned their back on me, basically, when I was having a hard time," he tells the newspaper. "You think I haven't answered this kind of question a bazillion times -- why my sister is a multibazillionaire, and I'm homeless on the street?"
He never does quite explain what led him to financial destitution, but holds forth on some of the more difficult aspects of street life:
"If you spend enough time on frozen concrete without proper insulation you will get frostbite, he says. "You have no idea how gruesome it is.

Would you take marriage advice from Madonna?
We bet Madonna isn’t too happy with her brother Christopher Ciccone right now! Madonna was a panelist on NBC’s new show The Marriage Ref giving advice to married couples Feb. 28 and her little brother totally bashed her for it! Christopher thinks it’s a bad idea to take relationship advice from the music legend. “I can’t imagine what she’s doing on The Marriage Ref giving advice to married couples,” Christopher told Page Six. “I guess it’s kind of ironic. Everyone has their experiences regarding marriage — hers are maybe what not to do.” Ouch! Even though Madonna has been married twice — once to Sean Penn and then again to Guy Ritchie both ending in divorce we still think she knows a think or two about keeping a man!

Christopher Ciccone, best known as brother to superstar singer Madonna, is vying for the empty seat opening up on "American Idol" next year. He's urging fans to call 19 Entertainment and request him to be the next judge.
Ciccone has even started a new Facebook group, "Christopher Ciccone for 'American Idol,'" which lists the numbers to 19 Entertainment in the U.S. and overseas. Oh no, he didn't! Madonna's estranged brother Christopher Ciccone has slammed his sister's appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend. Sure, millions of people around the world were hanging onto Madonna's every word as she paid tribute to the King of Pop, but not her brother. He was hating Madonna's hair.Speaking to E! News, Ciccone said of his sister's appearance, "She looked like Rachel Zoe gone horribly wrong." Ciccone seemed to be taking issue with the black zip-up ...

Christopher Ciccone made headlines after he released a tell all book about his famous sister entitled My Sister Madonna, and now he's back in the press doing what he does best--slamming Madonna. Ciccone spoke to E! news about Madonna's tribute to Michael Jackson last weekend at the MTV Vma's and he had anything but kind words for her. "She looked like Rachel Zoe gone horribly wrong," snapped Christopher Ciccone after Madonna stepped out in a tight black satin ensemble...

There's nothing like brotherly love to warm the heart. Or not. Madonna's estranged brother Christopher Ciccone spilled a ton of dirt on his super-star sister in his 2008 memoir Life With My Sister and apparently isn't ready to quit talking smack. Ciccone told E! News that Madonna "looked like Rachel Zoe gone horribly wrong," when asked about her look at Sunday night's Vma Awards, where she presented the tribute to Michael Jackson. He also spoke not-so-kindly about his sister's latest fling, Jesus Luz: "It proves the point that you can judge a person by the company they keep— or don't keep. It's painfully apparent that...

Madonna's papa don't preach, but her brother sure does. The pop icon's estranged sibling Christopher Ciccone, whom she hasn't been on voguing terms with since before he spilled some dirty beans in his 2008 memoir Life With My Sister, apparently doesn't think much of his sister's look lately. "She looked like Rachel Zoe gone horribly wrong!" Ciccone told E! News, possibly referring to the satiny, zipped-up outfit Madonna was sporting Sunday night at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. "It proves the point that you can judge a person by the company they keep— or don't keep," Ciccone jabbed, referring to his sis' significantly younger other, Jesus...

Octuplet mom Nadya Suleman says she's "excited" about filming a reality show featuring her life with 14 children. Suleman -- who attracted worldwide attention after giving birth to octuplets on January 26 -- has signed a deal with British production company Eyeworks, which will produce the reality TV series, People magazine reports. "I'm really excited about moving forward with this," Suleman said. Her attorney, Jeff Czech, calls the series a "quasi-reality" show, explaining that instead of having cameras around 24 hours a day, film crews will only document select occasions, such as birthdays and other special events. Czech tells People that Suleman doesn't want her series to resemble the much-publicized "Jon & Kate Plus 8," the Tlc reality show featuring Jon and Kate Gosselin and their eight kids. "She's been watching them a bit lately and thinks it's boring," Czech says. Suleman also finalized a deal this week with ghostwriter Wendy Lee -- who recently...

Nadya Suleman, the mother of octuplets born Jan. 26, has inked a deal with the British production company Eyeworks, which plans to begin filming a reality TV series based on the controversial single mother and her 14 children. "I'm really excited about moving forward with this," Suleman tells People. Suleman's attorney Jeff Czech calls the series a "quasi-reality" show, explaining that instead of having a dozen cameramen tromping around her house 24 hours a day, film crews will only document select milestones, such as birthdays and other special events. "Nadya knows she has to do something," says Czech. "But she doesn't want the...

Oh, brother! Or — more specifically — gay brother.
More and more celebrities are speaking openly about their gay siblings. Fantastic Four flamer Chris Evans was merely the latest, setting the blogosphere on fire earlier this month when he revealed in the latest issue of The Advocate that his look-alike brother, Scott, is gay. “They’re the funniest people I know,” Chris said of his bro and his gay friends.
But why wouldn’t lots of celebrities have gay brothers? If we’re “everywhere,” wouldn’t that include being part of a family with a famous member?
Not surprisingly, many of these same celebrities are also speaking out in favor of Glbt rights, pointing to their family members as examples of the real people involved in gay-related political debates. Many celebrities cite specific lessons they’ve learned from their queer brothers, about gay matters and other things.

Madonna has embarked on a January salmon "retox" regime to "knock 12 years off her appearance." The 50-year-old singer is so determined to make herself look younger she has enlisted the help of health experts who have devised a new program for her packed with the oily fish.
A source said: "The new 'retox' means she has got a more cardio-intensive gym regime and a diet overhaul. She will also be eating a lot more salmon as it's got age-defying properties. Her aim is to knock 12 years off her appearance."
Last year, Madonna's brother Christopher Ciccone - who wrote a book entitled "Life With My Sister Madonna" - alleged the singer had a facelift in a bid to maintain her youthful appearance.
When asked if he still recognized Madonna from the girl he grew up with, Christopher replied: "Not after the facelift."...

Christopher Ciccone has blasted Demi Moore as a "diva" who treats gay men like handbags. The Life With My Sister Madonna author claimed that Moore started ignoring him as soon as she met husband Ashton Kutcher. The pair once shared a strong friendship, but Ciccone labelled the Striptease actress a 'diva' after she stopped talking to him. Christopher Ciccone has branded Demi Moore a "diva" who treats gay men like handbags.
The 48-year-old artist - who is released a tell-all book entitled "Life With My Sister Madonna" last year, in which he declared his famous older sister a control freak, a narcissist and a cheapskate - said the "Striptease" star stopped speaking to him when she met her now-husband Ashton Kutcher.
After meeting at a Los Angeles Kabbalah center, Demi and openly homosexual Christopher became firm friends. However, when Demi's relationship with Ashton started to get serious, Christopher claims she immediately dropped him.
He told Britain's Observer newspaper: "A certain kind of diva carries a gay man around like a handbag, like an accessory. And then once they find the right straight guy, they don't need a male companion any more."...

We've been counting down the biggest headlines of 2008, and we'll be revealing more throughout the month of December. We hope you enjoy this look back at some of the posts and stories that created the most buzz throughout the year. It was a year of ups and downs for Madonna, who spent the first half of 2008 focusing on her new album before her music was eclipsed by her personal drama in the press. She started things off by taking Lourdes and Rocco around India and continued to raise money for Malawi with her celebrity friends. In February Madonna showed off her first endeavor as a director when her film Filth and Wisdom premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. Her debut was a milestone for the pop star, but the buzz quickly shifted to her new album, Hard Candy. She and her little black ensembles were all over the magazine covers...

The director is more important than the movie, but The Hollywood Reporter writes that Christopher Ciccone, who has directed music videos for his sister Madonna, will make his feature directorial debut with Usonian Entertainment's teen thriller "Twist". What's the film about? Who effin' knows (thanks guys) as they left out the logline - we'll see if we can't find out more. Usonian's Nathan Folks and Andrew Nagel will produce the feature, co-produced and written by Jay Milner and Karyn Milner of Clouded Leopard Prods. Keith Middlebrook of Fico Financial Services serves as exec producer....

I have a tip for aspiring filmmaker Christopher Ciccone: leave your sister out of your movie. The young director is brother to famed singer Madonna, who has had her own level of successes and failures in film, but tends to bring down those around her. Look at her collaboration with now-ex-husband Guy Ritche: Swept Away. Or, for that matter, how about long-ago-ex-husband Sean Penn: Shanghai Surprise (which I'm sure the Milk actor would love if people would forget). Christopher Ciccone hasn't avoided working with Madonna in the past, having directed several of her music videos. Now he's moving into the world of feature films, however, and will direct a teen thriller titled Twist. So we suggest again, leave Madonna uninvolved with your picture. Right now, other than the notice that he's Madonna's brother in Hr's report, there doesn't seem to be any collaboration between the two on Twist.

While the Material Girl gets back to single life, her brother is getting ready for the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Madonna's brother Christopher Ciccone will make his feature directorial debut with a new teen thriller called Twist. The script was written by Jay Milner and Karyn Milner, and while no plot details are being released, you can get a taste of the stories they write by clicking on their names -- it's the usual fish-out-of-water stories with strange and dangerous twists. Considering the name of this project, I think it's safe to say that this will be no different.
THR also reports that Maurice Kanbar (Hoodwinked producer) is gearing up for an indie with Daphne Zuniga called The Scene. Aside from reliving her days as Princess Vespa, Zuniga is producing and starring in the black comedy, which is adapted from Theresa Rebeck's (Gossip) play about the...

Usonian Entertainment has announced, via The Hollywood Reporter , that it has hired Christopher Ciccone to helm the teen thriller Twist . The music video helmer has collaborated with his sis, Madonna (maybe you've heard of her?), and is making his feature debut. Little is known about the story, hatched by writers Jay Milner and Karyn Milner, but perusing Usonian's official site and mission statement, we have to wonder how intense Twist will be. Says Usonian: "It is our goal to produce outstanding films that possess universal appeal without excessive violence or sexual content." Well, boo-hoo to that. The company's Nathan Folks and Andrew Nagel will produce the film alongside the Milners.

Though we don’t have a helluva lot of details, all right none outside of the title, I think it’s interesting enough to note that not only does Madonna have a brother with a last name (all right that's just news to me ... I don't keep up on such things), but he’s making his directorial debut in our genre.
THR reports that Christopher Ciccone, who's been known to direct a video or two for his pop diva sister, will be making his feature directing debut with a teen thriller called Twist. And that is all we know in terms of what it’s about. Sorry!
I can tell you that it was written by Dark Hollow writer/director and Clouded Leopard Productions heads Jay Milner & Karyn Milner and that Usonian Entertainment will be producing. Unfortunately there is neither jack nor shit on either one of those companies out there right now,...

His name is Christopher Ciccone. He has been, at various stages of his life, an artistic director, a back-up dancer, a dresser, an interior designer, and a stylist. He is now going to be a film director. And, oh yes, we almost forgot - he's Madonna's brother. Yes, the 48 year-old Ciccone – last seen writing a controversial memoir called Life With My Sister Madonna that contained all sorts of claims and revelations that we’re probably not allowed to repeat here in case we give our legal team a collective heart attack – will call the shots on Twist, a movie for Usonian Entertainment about which little else is known, save that it’s a teen thriller. We wish Ciccone well with his new enterprise, relatively safe in the knowledge that he couldn’t fare much worse as a director than his big sis – Filth And Wisdom, a scuzzed-up morality tale,...

The phrase "Madonna is planning to make another movie" is sure to make any celluloid fan shudder. She is a notoriously bad actress and has delivered wooden performances in Dick Tracy, Die Another Day and Body of Evidence to name but a few.
Her ex isn't much better. Guy Ritchie is responsible for a whole swathe of below average films including the universally panned Revolver. The nadir of the couple's film pretensions was Swept Away that won 5 of the inauspicious Raspberry awards including Worst Picture, Worst Actress and Worst Director.Madonna is only planning to launch a directing career, no mention of acting, luckily. Phew! The news was revealed by Christopher Ciccone whose only purpose in life is gossiping about his older sister. Madonna got some experience in directing with 2007's Filth & Wisdom.
