Composer, songwriter and author, educated at Fordham University. He
worked at Biograph Studios in The Bronx and then worked in England from
1935, writing for revues and films. Joining ASCAP in 1935, his chief
musical collaborators were John Egan and Frank Madden. His popular-song
compositions include "Moonspun Dreams", "Rags", "Maybe", Be Still, My
Heart", "Somewhere Beyond the Sunset", and "They Called Him 'Johnny
Appleseed'".
