Howard Kazanjian served as a producer on two of the original three Star Wars films. While Kazanjian went uncredited on Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, arguably one of the best in the franchise, he also worked on its sequel Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.

Having worked on the original trilogy makes Kazanjian a reliable source of critique on the widely divisive and polarizing sequel trilogy of Star Wars films produced under Disney. When asked about the sequels Kazanjian had stern words for the films, and blasted them for their inconsistent storylines. Here is what the veteran producer had to say about the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

It’s no mystery why Only Murders in the Building is killing it on Hulu. Besides the national obsession with true crime, there is a chemical reaction to the players which triggers a chaotic element unknown in forensics. Selina Gomez’s (occasionally “Bloody”) Mabel Mora ties up the loose ends. You might say she Martinizes them. It is harder to find looser ends than Steve Martin and Martin Short. As Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam, respectively, the two performers may stick to the scripts in the series, but they spent over a generation improvising over each other.
Martin and Short met while shooting the 1986 film Three Amigos! with Chevy Chase. Admiring new friend Steve’s opulent home, Martin was moved to ask “How did you get so rich,” he recalled on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, marveling at its improbability by admitting “I’ve seen your work.” They’ve been collaborating ever since,...

So, the Dead Rising series. Yeah, judging from the diminishing returns from each entry after the 2006 original, and the response from the last entry in Dead Rising 4, it’s safe to say that Capcom will have this series on hold for a bit. Making it sting even more is footage that has appeared online from the cancelled fifth entry, Dead Rising 5: Dia de los Muertos.
Per PlayStation Lifestyle, early prototype game footage of the cancelled title has been revealed through the portfolio of level designer Nick Sinkewicz. From the looks of things, Dead Rising 5 would take place in Mexico, and would see the return of Dead Rising 2 protagonist Chuck Greene.
Among the footage, Sinkewicz dropped some details on what could have been a useful addition to the cancelled entry. The Loot Containment System, which in contrast to previous entries that had your loot strewn about, making it difficult to...

Steve Martin is one of Hollywood's most beloved and iconic comedy stars. With over fifty years in the business, Martin has grown from a stand-up comic and "Saturday Night Live" regular to a respected comedy writer and actor. After breaking out to wider mainstream audiences with 1979's "The Jerk," Martin became a bonafide movie star. But the comedian has never stuck to one art form, publishing several books and plays -- not to mention Martin's music career too! Yes, he's known for taking on slapstick comedic roles that cast him as nonsensical or a highly intelligent neurotic. But Martin is also a critically acclaimed creative who received six Golden Globes nominations and eight Emmy nominations for his acting and writing chops.
Martin recently delighted fans with season 2 of "Only Murders in the Building." Allegedly, Martin plans to retire after his Hulu series wraps. Martin is also one Tony award away...

In the late '70s and early '80s, comedians from "Saturday Night Live" made the transition to the big screen, and the move paid off big time. John Landis' "Animal House" provided a star vehicle for John Belushi, and the bawdy comedy made over 140 million against its modest 3 million budget (via Box Office Mojo). For their next trick, Belushi was joined by Dan Aykroyd for a big-budget version of their "SNL" musical act, "The Blues Brothers," which was another smash.
Arguably peak "SNL" at the movies came in 1984. "Beverly Hills Cop," starring Eddie Murphy, was the top-performing film domestically with 234 million, while "Ghostbusters" with Aykroyd and Bill Murray was a global sensation and became a pop culture phenomenon.
"Three Amigos," starring Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, was originally conceived in 1980 as a vehicle for - you guessed it - John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. By the time...

Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. rights to The Gig Is Up, Shannon Walsh’s feature documentary that explores the real costs of the controversial gig economy through the lives of workers from around the world for companies including Uber, Amazon and Deliveroo. The deal comes after London-based sales outfit Dogwoof acquired world rights at the European Film Market. Gravitas will now release the film October 8 in theaters and on-demand.

"The power's out everywhere! The city is locked down!" Gravitas Ventures has debuted an official trailer for a very gory, ridiculously cheesy grindhouse horror film titled The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre. Yes, that is the full title, because it's about the "Manson Brothers", two professional wrestlers, who end up fighting a horde of zombies after a midnight cage match on Halloween. "They didn't know that they need to stay in an arena to fight zombies." Why not...? There's even a sequel already in the works: The Manson Brothers Satanic Vampire Death Match. Midnight Zombie Massacre stars Max Martini (who also directs the film), Adrian Pasdar, Randy Couture, Bas Rutten, and Db Sweeney, along with tons of hungry zombies. This looks so so bad - but that's the point! Disgusting grindhouse zombie mania. Have fun. Trailer (+ poster) for Max Martini's Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre, from YouTube: Wrestling's most hated tag team,...

As you settle in for tonight’s Bellator fight between Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez on Spike at 9 pm Et (you’re doing that, right?), ask yourself this: What led you to become a mixed martial arts fan? We bet a whole lot of you are into it because the sport’s biggest stars have made their way into other realms of pop culture. Like professional wrestlers before them, fighters like Chuck Liddell, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Gina Carano, Randy Couture and Bas Rutten have been trying their hand (and feet) at acting.
Sometimes it’s just to play themselves in a funny cameo, sometimes it’s to be the opponent in a fight or a bouncer at a strip club, and then there are some instances when they’re allowed to take center stage. Whether or not they’re on their way to the Academy Awards with...

Chicago – Seeing the words “Happy Madison Production” on any film means a broad, unfunny and formulaic comedy is about to emerge – usually with company founder Adam Sandler. Although “Here Comes the Boom” has some of those dulling elements, it’s Kevin James who is sincere and motivated as a cage match fighter.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The set-up to the premise – James is a teacher at a school that is cutting it’s music program and popular music teacher, so naturally James fights in mixed martial arts cage matches to earn money to save the day – is straight out of the Happy Madison playbook. What separates it from Sandler-land is the everyman charm of Kevin James, and the odd collection of characters that help his achieve his Ultimate Fighting Championship dream. With shades of “Rocky” and a unique approach to filming the fight sequences, “Here Comes the Boom” is not bad.

Henry Winkler On Training In Mma, Working With Adam Sandler And The Return Of 'Arrested Development'
Is Henry Winkler the sweetest man in Hollywood? After speaking with us, we'd have to say so. The iconic "Happy Days" star took time out of his busy schedule -- preparing for a run on Broadway in the porn-industry-set comedy "The Performers" -- to talk with us about his role in the new Kevin James comedy "Here Comes the Boom." In the movie, James stars as Mr. Voss, a science teacher at a struggling high school who needs to raise money fast when budget cuts are threatening to can the music program and its beloved teacher Marty (naturally played by Winkler). The only way to earn the money they need is for Voss to compete in the dangerous sport of Mixed Martial Arts. But now that we've spoken to the Fonz, we'd be willing to fight in the octagon for his honor too. During our chat with Winkler, the actor...

Here Comes the Boom
Directed by: Frank Coraci
Cast: Kevin James, Henry Winkler, Bas Rutten, Selma Hayek
Running Time: 1 hr 45 mins
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: October 12, 2012
Plot: A lazy science teacher (James) decides he can earn money to save his school’s music program by participating in Mixed Martial Arts fights.
Who’S It For? If you enjoyed spending ten dollars to see Kevin James ride a Segway, or run into a wall in the past, then here’s an upgrade: in Here Comes the Boom, he gets punched in the face more than a couple times. Aside from that, this Adam Sandler-produced comedy is for those who want something to watch while they eat their popcorn.
Expectations: There’s always a chance for an underdog surprise, or a hint of emotion to be felt. What if this movie made me feel something? Wouldn’t that be a nice surprise?...

- The Scorecard Review
As tedious and forgettable as the film may be, I find I cannot completely dismiss Frank Coraci’s Here Comes The Boom, for the film’s heart is undoubtedly in the right place. This is not a good or inspired comedy, but unlike many of its similarly broad, Adam Sandler-produced peers, it is not soulless or vapid either. The film is actually built around an idea, a fairly universal and relatable philosophy about education: That when it comes to our children, we should fight hard every day to make sure they have every possible opportunity.
To drive this point home, the story operates around a grand metaphor, wherein protagonist Mr. Voss (Kevin James), a bored high school biology teacher, becomes an Mma fighter to raise enough money to fund the school’s endangered music program.
Therein lies the problem: While the film stresses over and over again how heroically symbolic Mr.

Over a year has passed since Zookeeper, so the multiplexes are overdue for another family friendly comedy from Kevin James. Since his TV sitcom ” The King of Queens ” ended James has been a matinee fixture going back to Paul Blart: Mall Cop in 2009. And he’s now firmly established as a member of Adam Sandler’s staple of film stars ( along with Sandler’s old SNL buddies ) as either a headline or supporting player ( in Grown Ups and its upcoming sequel ) or lead. Since Sandler went for the more adult audiences with last Summer’s under-performing That’S My Boy, James is being sent in to scoop up the pre-teen box-office bucks. The new flick, Here Comes The Boom, is an odd mix of subjects. He’s a teacher, so he can have cute interactions with some youngsters. But a good deal of it is set in the ultra-violent world of mixed martial arts competitions.

Kevin James moonlights as a mixed martial arts fighter in Here Comes The Boom so of course you need some Ufc fighters for the flick. In this clip from the comedy, Sebastiaan "Bas" Rutten flexes his muscles and girth for some laughs with Kevin James.
Salma Hayek and Henry Winkler also star alongside Kevin James in a comedy written by James and his writing partner Allan Loeb. In Here Comes The Boom, former collegiate wrestler Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a 42-year-old apathetic biology teacher in a failing high school. When cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teacher (Henry Winkler,) Scott begins to raise money by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter. Bas Rutten helps Voss train for the ring. Everyone thinks Scott is crazy – most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek)

Wme has signed Bas Rutten, the mixed martial arts champion who co-stars with Kevin James in the Sony Pictures comedy Here Comes The Boom. He collaborates frequently with James, previously appearing in Paul Blart: Mall Cop and lending his voice to the cast of Zookeeper. Now, like James, he is in the Wme and Jeff Sussman Management fold. Rutten is currently the co-host of the weekly Inside Mma program on Axs TV and has provided color commentary for several fight organizations including the former Pride Fighting Championships. He knows the subject matter: Rutten is a former three-time King of Pancrase World Champion and Ufc Heavyweight Champion. He evolved from a devastating stand up striker who dropped 11 opponents by knockout and then became as dominant in ground fighting, winning 14 bouts by submission. He was undefeated in his final 22 fights.

When you sit down to watch a Kevin James movie, you can be sure of one thing; there's going to be falling.
The actor, who takes on screenwriting and producing duties on Here Comes the Boom, takes his love of physical humour to the extreme by having his biology teacher character learn how to become a mixed-martial-arts fighter in order to raise money for his cash-strapped school that's about to lose its extracurricular activities.
As likeable but lazy Mr. Voss, James brings an everyman quality to the upcoming comedy, while making room for lots of slips, slides, punches, jabs and big, big falls.
Salma Hayek co-stars as his sexy fellow teacher, Greg Germann is the principal who doesn't appreciate his teacher's hijinks, real-life Mma dude Bas Rutten and Henry Winkler are also on-board and Joe Rogan plays, who else, himself.

One of our loyal Lr readers had chance to see a screening of the new Kevin James flick and he was cool enough to send us a review.
Here’s Dic Hertz with his opinions on Here Comes the Boom:
It’s so bad, it’s pretty good.
Former collegiate wrestler Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a 42-year-old biology teacher in a failing, financially strapped, Boston high school. Keeping it to contemporary times, when cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teacher (Henry Winkler), the stakes are raised, and Scott begins to raise money by dabbling as an Mma fighter. Of course everyone thinks Scott’s nuts – most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek) – but in his do-gooder journey, Scott gains something he never expected as he becomes a sensation that rallies the entire school.
Ok. For starters, do not enter this film expecting anything relating,...

Sometimes he's a mall cop, sometimes he tends to zoo animals and other times he's the spastic, unlucky in love dork but one thing's for sure: Kevin James gives good slapstick.
He's back to his old tricks, although noticeably slimmed down, in Here Comes the Boom where he plays a well-loved biology teacher who, desperate to raise money for his cash-poor school, moonlights as a mixed martial artist fighter. So you can see where the physical comedy will come into play.
Starring alongside Salma Hayek (zuh?), Henry Winkler and real-life Mma fighter Bas Rutten, this Frank Coraci pic (Zookeeper, The Wedding Singer) is an inspirational comedy about not giving up, even in the face of severe beatings by a shirtless man in a cage if it means saving something you believe in.
Check out the trailer after the jump.

Kevin James, Mixed Martial Arts Fighter? It’s not a title I would’ve considered for the guy that played Paul Blart: Mall Cop, but he seems to make it work with his own unique style when he climbs into the cage arena for Here Comes the Boom.
James is going for a sentimental feel, while still holding onto the funny, as a high school science teacher motivated to take action when school budget cuts threaten to shut down the music program and put the music teacher (Henry Winkler) out of work. Rather than do away with activities, James’ character decides to raise money by becoming a Mma fighter.
While Kevin James has never struck me as a stand-out comedian, I’ve always enjoyed his movies and it looks like he sticks with his regular routine in Here Comes the Boom. I like the premise but hope the movie fills...

I have a hard time watching Kevin James in the movies he makes. I just don't find him that funny. Maybe some of you do. If so, then Here Comes the Boom might interest you. It comes off as a comedy version of the awesome Mma drama Warrior, as it deals with a school teacher fighting in the Mma.
Here's the short synopsis:
A high school biology teacher moonlights as a mixed-martial arts fighter in an effort to raise money to save the school's music program.
The movie comes from director Frank Coraci (Zookeeper, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer), and also stars Salma Hayek and Henry Winkler, Mma's Joe Rogan and former Mma champ Bas Rutten.
