At 10pm, CBS broadcasts the new “48 Hours: Murder by Clown“.
Melissa Turner, a resident of Hillsborough County, Florida, placed a 911 call on October 18, 2019, reporting the discovery of her fiancé, Matthew Trussler, lying unresponsive near their swimming pool. Trussler was pronounced dead at the scene, and a subsequent autopsy determined that he had died from stab wounds. At first, Turner informed detectives that the couple had been drinking on the prior night, but she could recall very few details. However, a security camera above a neighbor’s garage door provided crucial evidence that prompted Turner to alter her account of the events. According to prosecutors, an audio recording from the camera captured Turner screaming at Trussler. She claimed to have stabbed him in self-defense when he allegedly attempted to strangle her. Turner was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder with a weapon.

The news that Sinclair Broadcasting Group (Sbg) is picking up any live sports rights may come as a shock to some fans. One of Sinclair’s subsidiaries Diamond Sports Group is in a fight for its life in bankruptcy court, as it tries to keep its collection of 19 regional sports networks (RSNs) afloat.
But the newest team to head to a Sinclair-owned channel won’t be making use of any RSNs; in fact, just the opposite. John Ourand at the Sports Business Journal reports that the Utah Jazz will move local broadcasting of their games to Sinclair’s Kjzz, which extends its coverage throughout the state of Utah. Jazz games had previously been shown on AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, an Rsn owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
As part of the agreement, Sinclair will partner with the Jazz to launch an in-market streaming option. The arrangement sounds quite similar to...

FX’s “Fosse/Verdon” dominated the first round of Directors Guild of America TV nominations, landing three in the TV movie/limited series — for directors Jessica Yu, Minkie Spiro and Thomas Kail.
Yu, Spiro and Kail will face off against “Chernobyl” director Johan Renck, who won the Emmy for that HBO limited series in September. Also up for the award are “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” director Vince Gilligan and “When They See Us” director Ava DuVernay, both for Netflix projects.
But the big news Monday was the DGA’s decision to hold back on revealing nominations in other key categories, including drama and comedy. The org said nomination announcements for the Comedy Series, Dramatic Series and Variety/Talk/News/Sports – Specials categories will be announced on Friday, Jan. 10 “due to a re-vote related to a newly implemented electronic entry submissions process.”

The Directors Guild unveiled nominations Monday in its limited series categories for the 72nd DGA Awards (see list below). But due to what it calls “a re-vote related to a newly implemented electronic entry submissions process,” the series noms aren’t out today.
But just last week, the guild announced that Jill Soloway — a DGA Award winner for her work on Transparent — has had the Amazon comedy’s chances of landing one final Directors Guild of America nomination forseries hampered by an internal DGA error. “We regret to inform you that the following entry was inadvertently omitted from the Comedy Series ballot: #165a. Transparent Musicale Finale, Jill Soloway,” the DGA wrote in an email to members, offering those who wish to recast their vote in this category to do so following a link.

When it comes to a show like HBO’s Game of Thrones, there are always going to be moments that split the fandom right down the middle. After all, you’re never going to please everyone and that’s totally alright.
That being said, what happened last night is something that just about everyone agrees was completely stupid and uncalled for. Of course, we’re referring to Dany’s big heel turn, which felt like a development that was rushed, not properly thought out and far too out of character for someone who’s usually been viewed as a hero throughout the series’ run.
True, Daenerys has acted irrationally in the past, but turning her into the villain now as Thrones is about to come to a close isn’t what fans want to see and understandably, they’ve taken to Twitter to share their frustrations. Taking aim at the...
