While police continue investigating the stabbing death of Brooklyn activist Ryan Carson, interest in the case has turned into a targeted harassment campaign.
A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed Thursday to Rolling Stone that a person of interest in the case had been taken into custody but declined to release any additional information. CBS News reports that the suspect is Brian Dowling, an 18-year-old Brooklyn man who has been charged with murder and the criminal possession of a weapon.

When Brian Dowling appeared as a contestant on Big Brother more than 20 years ago, he probably had no idea that it would lead to a long-term career in the entertainment industry. However, that is precisely what happened. Over the years, Brian has become a fixture in the reality TV world in the UK. During that time, he has built a dedicated fan base that includes people from different parts of the world. His time in the spotlight hasn’t been without its not-so-nice moments. But matter what kinds of obstacles have presented themselves, Brian isn’t the type to let anything

The Big Brother bond between Brian Dowling and Narinder Kaur seems to be unbreakable, with the latter set to be the presenter's bridesmaid today (July 30).
The pair took part in the second series of Big Brother back in 2001, and immediately became inseparable. They were mostly seen gossiping about their fellow housemates - including Amma Antwi-Agyei and Dean O'Loughlin - and even developed nicknames and facial expressions to describe the poor unsuspecting contestants.
Dowling is believed to be holding his wedding with long-term partner Arthur Gourounlian in a country house just outside Dublin, after the couple legally tied the knot in London a few months ago.
Explaining his decision and concerns over the same-sex marriage vote in Ireland, the TV presenter said: "We did it in London as we didn't know how the law would go in Ireland. We wanted to make sure we got it right.
"All my friends and family are coming.

Brian Dowling is getting married today (30.07.15). The former 'Big Brother' winner and host is tying the knot to choreographer Arthur Gourounlian at a country house close to Dublin, Ireland, in what will be the country's first celebrity gay wedding. Brian uploaded a series of photographs to social media site Instagram last night (29.07.15) and revealed that his former 'Big Brother' housemate and pal Narinder Kaur is one of his trio of bridesmaids. He captioned the post: ''Sssshhhh! I'm getting married in the morning. Wedding Fun (sic)'' And Brian - who has slimmed down for the big day - invited a...

In a few short hours, one of six housemates will go down in the Big Brother history books as the 15th winner of the show (alright, so it's not like they'll be studied in schools or anything, but it's something, right?). But where will they fit in the record? Will they be a worthy winner, or a disappointment? Will they be looked back on with glee or with grimaces?
That remains to be seen, but in the meantime we have 14 winners to rank. Who is the best? Who is the worst? We're not going to claim this is definitive - we switched our own minds around about 27 times just while compiling our running order - but take to the comments to give us your views. Emma Willis has said that she is flattered by comparisons to Davina McCall.
The presenter took over from Brian Dowling as the host of Channel 5's Big Brother last year, before fronting The Voice UK alongside Marvin Humes.
McCall previously presented Big Brother from 2000 to 2010 on Channel 4.
Willis told The Mirror: "I owe Big Brother a lot. I know that show inside out, and I love all the contestants who take part.
"Some people call me the new Davina McCall and I'm happy to take that! She is one of my idols on TV, and I've admired her for a long time."
She continued: "The Voice is definitely the biggest thing I've done.
"I never thought that my first job for the BBC would be on one of its flagship prime time shows. I was also offered it outright without an audition, which had never happened to me before.

This series of Celebrity Big Brother has been - without a doubt, without any arguments - a classic. Already, we're starting to wonder what we're going to do when it comes to an end. What are we going to shout at on our television now? But prepare we must, because the show comes to an end tonight (even after Channel 5 pushed it back and back again).
Before we say goodbye, though, there's one little matter to deal with. It's just a small thing. Only who's going to win. And to be honest, it doesn't seem like this is really a puzzler: all signs point to Jim.
Sure, we could be in for an Ulrika Jonsson-style shock, but if we're going on odds and what we know of the voting so far, it would not be a surprise to see the former Generation Game host taking the crown. But... is that a good thing?...

The rumour mill has closed down, we now know the full lineup for the latest Celebrity Big Brother, and we at Digital Spy are rather chuffed, as we got quite a few of them right in our predictions!
There are a couple of surprises in amongst the usual dose of models you'd never heard of, American stars who have probably never heard of Big Brother, and talent from yesteryear desperate for some kind of comeback.
While the celebs get used to their new surroundings, here follows a quick guide to your new friends for the next couple of weeks.
Casey Batchelor
Say it with me now. 'Whooooo?' Here's your token glamour model that you're totally forgiven for never having heard of, unless you're a regular reader of Nuts or Zoo magazine.
Apparently, according to the Channel 5 press release, Casey is "most known for her 34GGs". Most likely in there...

This year's Big Brother final is probably the most fiercely contested since the show moved to Channel 5.
The Digital Spy forums and comments section are overflowing with passion, fury and hot debate (I guess nothing changes there) and for the first time in a long while, viewers who have stuck with the series have been singing its praises rather than moaning or picking up the phone to Ofcom.
I said before the series started that this was a make-or-break year for the non-celebrity version of Big Brother. The ratings had been solid on Channel 5, but not spectacular. And despite a strong hardcore following, the show is no longer the sort of programme everyone is talking about down the pub or in the office on Monday morning.
So has Big Brother rediscovered its sparkle with series 14?
It certainly hasn't reached the ratings highs or tabloid headline-generating pomp of the mid-'00s,...

Oh my goodness, but it's a packed seven days of telly this week! Whittling down the schedules to just five top picks for today's Must-See TV was a truly Herculean task... and we pretty much failed, so here's a few bonus mentions to go along with our traditional quintet...

Celebrity Big Brother will begin on Thursday, August 22 at 9pm with a "big twist".
Channel 5 confirmed that the twelfth series of CBB will have a two-hour launch just three days after the current civilian edition ends on Monday, August 19.
A second 90-minute live show called Celebrity Big Brother: The Big Twist has been scheduled for 9pm on Friday (August 23), though no further information has been announced of what this will entail.
Both programmes will be immediately followed by Big Brother's Bit On the Side, currently hosted by Rylan Clark - winner of the last CBB in January - and Aj Odudu.
On Friday, Channel 5 will also screen 30 minutes of live footage from the house at 11.30pm showing the aftermath of the twist.
The next series of Celebrity Big Brother will be the first hosted by Emma Willis after she took over from Brian Dowling for Big Brother 14, which begun in June.

It’s time for Channel 5 to evict Big Brother.
As an avid Big Brother fan that is very hard for me to say; but it’s the right time. I still love it, I have it on series record and I watch every episode. I still find Big Brother as entertaining and interesting as I did the first time I watched it. The problem is: not too many people feel the same way as I do.
The live launch of this year’s Big Brother has been the least watched in the history of the show, with an average of 2.1 million viewers. That was a slide of 600,000 from the previous year. On Channel Two at the same time as the Big Brother launch night was a documentary on Cats – Horizon: The Secret Life Of The Cat – which pulled in an audience of 4.9 million. It appears the viewers find cats more interesting than the housemates.

Every TV show has its shelf life, no matter how great it may have seemed when it first aired on the small screen.
Friends, which happily ran into a tenth season, was a consistently great TV show yet it was unanimously decided by 2004 that it had ran its course. All good things, after all, to hark back to that age-old cliché, must come to an end.
Yet there are some programmes that just don’t understand the word “quit”. Shows that started out okay, but for some reason or other have somehow lost their way throughout the course of their run and yet manage to stay on our screens.
These shows outstay their welcome and simply aren’t allowed to fade away with even a morsel of dignity. Instead, executives and producers continue to flog away at them like the proverbial horse carcass while hoping to milk every last ounce out of them.

Big Brother host Emma Willis suffered an uncomfortable moment on Friday's live launch show when she almost made reference to 'tomorrow night's Big Brother on Channel 4'.
The Channel 5 presenter, who has replaced Brian Dowling on this year's series, drew an "ooh" from the crowd for appearing to accidentally mention the reality show's former home.
However, the 37-year-old immediately corrected herself and was not flustered by the near-gaffe as she wrapped up the show.
"Channel 4" quickly became a trending topic on Twitter, with one user posting: "Love Emma Willis channel 4 slip up #awkward," while another said: "Hahaha! Love how @Emma_Willis almost said Channel 4. Ooops!"
Many also praised Willis for handling it well and commended her for her performance in the first live shows.

A mole, a mad mackerel fisherwoman, more twists than a Curly Wurly and a scantily clad 'alternative model' who claims to have bedded 70 woman. Yes, Big Brother is back and its business as usual.
Emma Willis appeared to win over fans on Twitter and seems to be an overwhelmingly popular choice as a replacement for the wooden Brian Dowling. Has she re-energised the flagging reality series in your opinion, or is her appointment too little, too late?
[Big Brother Launch Night - Part 1]
The big twist for this year's 'Secret and Lies'-themed series was the introduction of a fake housemate. An actor. A mole. A puppet. Michael has been introduced to "cause havoc" and despite his acting skills looking a little on the over-egging side of things, he's already succeeded in creating some serious tension.
All the housemates believe that Michael has had their suitcases shredded to save his own. Of course, the real suitcases are still safe and sound,...

It's a make or break year for Big Brother. The celebrity version of the reality show is a rare hit for Channel 5 and has a secure future on the channel. But the original format with Joe Public is no longer the ratings grabbing/watercooler TV that it once was.
Gone are the days of Jade, mad Nikki Grahame, Fight Night and Nasty Nick. It feels like a long time ago when going in the Big Brother house was a guaranteed route to five minutes of fame, a slot on Hole in the Wall and a tacky magazine deal, even if you just spent 34 days belly-down on a beanbag.
Any of the contestants from last year's series would have been happy with five seconds of fame, let alone five minutes.
Shievonne. Luke A. Caroline. Ashleigh. Victoria. Lydia Louisa. These names probably mean nothing to you. They are a selection of last year's utterly unmemorable housemates,...

Rylan Clark has told Digital Spy that this year's Big Brother housemates have secrets so extreme that they could "make or break people".
The Bit on the Side host teased that the 'Secret and Lies' theme will make for a series that is "totally different from the night that it starts... to the finale".
"I can't wait, there's going to be a lot of twists," the Celebrity Big Brother winner said. "I tell you now every single thing is different to what you know [this series]... This year is totally different from the night that it starts even to the finale.
"Big Brother's not the only one with secrets. There will be secrets in that house that will make or break people and that's what's going to be so exciting about this year."

New Big Brother host Emma Willis has said that she supports bringing in stricter rules for contestants on the reality show.
The presenter claimed that housemates should work much harder than they have in recent years if they want to win the £100,000 prize money.
Willis told The Sun: "The show started out as a social experiment, and it was how people worked together and interacted.
"It is a game show, so you always have to have that element of sneakiness and naughtiness.
"But they get parties and they have a great time, and I just want them to work at it a bit more."
Willis, who replaces Brian Dowling as presenter, suggested that more chores and punishments should be introduced.
She added: "I want them to only have one hour of hot water a day, to have to bake their own bread, to look after chickens, rather than letting them have everything.

The new Big Brother Diary Room chair has been revealed.
This year's housemates will speak to Big Brother from a jagged copper piping throne in a metal room reminiscent of a jail cell.
The grim design is a sharp contrast to the lush and colourful eco-themed house, which was unveiled in first-look pictures yesterday (June 10).
The official Big Brother Twitter has described the chair as "lovely" and "the perfect spot for offloading to Big Brother".
Digital Spy has learnt that male twins and secret relatives are apparently in the running for this year's 'Secrets and Lies' series.

Big Brother could feature male twins as housemates in its new series, Digital Spy has learnt.
Sources have told us that the brothers are being lined up to enter the famous compound when the Channel 5 show returns on Thursday (June 13) - and they might not be the only housemates related.
The insiders added that the twins will be entering the house together, meaning there will be no 'swap' twist featured on foreign versions of Big Brother, where one sibling moves in on launch night and regularly changes places with the other in secret.
This year's 'Secrets and Lies' theme is believed to have been influenced by the 'Secret Story' twist used internationally, which has previously seen housemates hiding the fact they are related.

The first pictures of the new Big Brother house have been unveiled.
The famous compound has been given an eco-friendly makeover for the Channel 5 show's 14th series, with barn-esque wooden walls and floors, kitchen chairs made of old bike saddles and a living room that looks out onto a lush jungle.
There is also an electricity-generating bike in the bedroom and an outside shower, powered by turning a wheel.
Among the new features in the Big Brother garden are a cosy treehouse, a 'prison' for misbehaving housemates and a vegetable patch which will allow the group to grow their own produce.
This year's contestants will enter and exit the compound via a grand blue staircase adorned with a chandelier and colourful doors representing the 'Secrets and Lies' theme.
The twist is represented throughout the building, with doors and briefcases converted into various fixtures.

However, the 37-year-old described the role as her "dream" job, Pa reports.
She will take over from Brian Dowling when the show's 14th series begins on Thursday (June 13).
Willis explained that she had to think about it when she was offered the role because of "varying factors".
As well as the "difficult" prospect of taking the role from Dowling, Willis also revealed that hosting the main show is a different challenge from Big Brother's Bit on the Side.
She said: "I would have been stupid to turn it down, and now I'm s**tting myself!

Big Brother host Emma Willis has stated that she would never be a housemate on the show.
The 37-year-old, who takes over from Brian Dowling when Big Brother returns for its 14th series this month, said that she would only be up for visiting the compound as former presenter Davina McCall did back in the Channel 4 days.
"One tiny voice in my head says I'd quite like to experience all aspects of it by going into the house," Willis told Reveal. "But then another, bigger voice screams: 'Don't do it!'
"I think I'd like to visit, like Davina did when she once dressed up and went in, but I'd never go in as a housemate."
Asked what she would like to see from this year's Big Brother housemates, Willis replied: "I hope there are different age ranges, cultural backgrounds and people who have a backstory, rather than people...

Emma Willis has said that she has no regrets about taking the Big Brother presenting job away from Brian Dowling.

"I know some people will read this and think, 'Well, if it was that difficult [a decision] you shouldn't have taken [the role]'," she said.

Big Brother has revealed in full the new eye for its upcoming 14th series, having 'tricked' viewers with a disguised version of the logo last week.
The final eye, cobbled together from televisions, doors and drawers, is the same 'dark' one that host Emma Willis posed in front of in May, but has been lit up to show its vibrant colour scheme.
Channel 5 admitted to having deliberately "fooled" fans by concealing the eye as a tie-in to the 'Secrets and Lies' theme of the new series.
The channel has also teased Big Brother viewers with the question: "What's the secret behind the doors?"
The 'Secrets and Lies' theme is expected to be similar to 'Secret Story' twists that have been used in other countries' versions of Big Brother, where contestants are tasked with keeping their secrets safe while trying to uncover those of their housemates.
