Vin Diesel’s most famous creation, the Fast & Furious franchise has been around since 2001. For over two decades, it has been steadily evolving (or devolving?) from street racing action movies to movies with international espionage, cars going to space, and people being revived every other second — and lost some of its original fans thanks to that. The F&f movies have long lost their original ground.
But according to star Tyrese Gibson, that finally changes with Fast 11!
Fast & Furious Goes Back to Its Roots
Believe it or not, despite the F&f movies having been only getting progressively bigger in terms of scale and events, Fast 11 isn’t about to continue with this trend. The finale of Vin Diesel’s iconic franchise will be more grounded than the previous installments, more down-to-earth — at least, that’s what Tyrese is saying.

Jason Momoa belongs to a small group of absolutely massive actors who are also genuinely funny as hell, like John Cena and Alan Ritchson. In some of his best roles, Momoa can be charismatic and funny, but also intimidating and a strong physical presence on screen. It's why he works great in "The Bad Batch" and as Aquaman, why he stole every scene he's in as Duncan Idaho in "Dune," and why Dante Reyes is one of the best "Fast & Furious" villains ever.
And yet, this is Hollywood, so of course Momoa was mostly seen as just a big scary dude after his breakthrough role in "Game of Thrones." Sure, audiences love bad guys, but they don't necessarily root for them. So it came as a big surprise when, in 2014, Momoa was cast as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe.

The Fast and Furious franchise has featured some pretty big stars since the early days of the street racing crew stealing TV/Vcr combos. Check out the later entries and you’ll see Kurt Russell, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and plenty of others. But one action favorite who won’t be getting behind the wheel is Jean-Claude Van Damme, who claims that he hit a big, bad, bald roadblock when approached about joining the Fast and Furious franchise.
In a profile by The Telegraph, Jean-Claude Van Damme claimed that he could have once been a part of the insanity of this series if for Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise. “They want me in Fast and Furious… But Vin Diesel said, ‘No, I don’t want him.’” Shot down by the dude from Pitch Black and The Pacifier! The Fast and Furious franchise has been around since 2001, wowing audiences with its thrilling car chases, street racing, heists, and so much more. Starting the movie series with The Fast and the Furious starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and others, it kickstarted a franchise thay has endured for more than two decades. Its latest addition was Fast X, which saw the return of many actors, including Dwayne Johnson, who had bid goodbye to the franchise some years back.

Jason Momoa Takes An Alleged Dig At His Fast X & Aquaman 2 Franchise (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Jason Momoa has become a prominent name in Hollywood and has some big movies to his credit, like Fast X, Aquaman franchise, and Justice League; however, the actor seems dissatisfied as they don’t make it to the awards. Currently, Momoa’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom aka Aquaman 2, is running in the theatres and is doing comparatively well.
Momoa’s initial acting projects include Baywatch, and he rose to fame with Game of Thrones. He played the role of Khal Drogo, husband of Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke. However, he was allegedly out of work for some time and was starving. He was with Lisa Bonet at that time. Again, his appearance as Arthur Curry in Justice League gave him a new fan base. Bowen Yang played U.S. Representative George Santos, who found himself at the center of an investigation into his campaign donation spending, during the “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update.
Santos was found by a House Ethics Committee report to have spent tens of thousands of campaign dollars on designer clothes and shoes, Botox, OnlyFans, personal trips and casino roulette tables. More than $40,000 from his campaign’s bank account was found to have not been reported to the Federal Election Commision and used for personal expenses.
As Santos, Yang joined Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost to discuss the illegal spending. “George, this is serious. They’re calling for your expulsion,” Jost said. “Well then, girl, ‘expul’ me!” Yang’s Santos replied.
“Isn’t Congress kind of like OnlyFans anyway? People paying you to do nasty things on a sad, bad livestream?” he said, attempting to defend himself.

Bowen Yang starred as Tian Tian, a giant panda from China who interrupted an awkward Joe Biden press conference, in the “Saturday Night Live” cold open.
As Mikey Day’s Biden was getting grilled at a press conference about his recent meeting with China’s president Xi Jinping, response to the Israel-Palestine conflict and the border crisis, Tian Tian jumped in to save the day. In a friendly gesture toward U.S.-Chinese relations, Jinping had suggested this week that giant pandas may return to California zoos.
Yang’s Tian Tian first wanted to clear up the “giant” part of his panda species, clarifying that he likes to be called “slim thick.” He also said that he’s going to miss the free marijuana — and only that — of his time in the U.S. before he goes back to China. Jealous of the panda’s spotlight, Day’s Biden attempted to field a question,...

Do you smell what The Rock is cookin’? If so, you’d know that Dwayne Johnson isn’t exactly pleased with a new wax figure, which features a rather inaccurate depiction of the star. Johnson has taken to social media to express his dismay with the wax figure, particularly in how it shows him with a far lighter skin tone, with many pointing to it as an example of whitewashing.
Posting on Instagram, Dwayne Johnson took a chance to slam his new wax figure at the Grevin Museum, writing, “I knew my boy @jamesjeffersonj had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshairs…is this how y’all felt when you lost the Little Mermaid?”, referring to the somehow controversial casting of Halle Bailey as Ariel in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. In the latest issue of Production Weekly, there’s a listing for the next installment of the Fast & Furious franchise. No, not Fast X – Part 2, but the upcoming spin-off featuring the return of Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs.
According to Production Weekly, the title of the Dwayne Johnson spin-off is Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes. If this does end up being the legit title, it would continue the format set in motion by Johnson’s first spin-off, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Of course, the Reyes in the title would refer to Dante Reyes, the maniacal villain played by Jason Momoa in Fast X. The character is seeking revenge against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew for the death of his father and loss of his family’s fortune, which occurred during the events of Fast Five.

The Fast and Furious franchise is chock full of testosterone. Sometimes the macho conflicts famously happen behind the scenes. Hot off the news of Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel squashing their beef to surprise audiences with a return of Luke Hobbs to the series, there is now talk that the Toretto actor, who preaches about family, is none too pleased with the newest addition to the ensemble. CinemaBlend reports that Diesel is said to be upset with Momoa’s over-the-top performance in Fast X and blames him for the film’s less-than-stellar reviews.
An insider tells RadarOnline that “Vin is embarrassed Jason is being branded the only bright spot in the film and stealing his thunder in the franchise he built himself.” While Fast X isn’t a hit with critics and only produced lukewarm box office returns domestically compared to previous entries, it’s nearly been unanimous that Momoa...

While The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom have been on the dock for a while, the two films will finally get their releases this year. Jason Momoa has already claimed part of the summer, as he was unanimously praised for amping up the energy of Fast X with his outrageous Dante Reyes character. The Hollywood Reporter sits down with another Fast and Furious series alum and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom‘s director, James Wan. Wan talks about where he feels the movie fits in the DC universe as it changes around him.
With the sequel being a big task to tackle in its own right, in the middle of things, the DC universe would be changing hands with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over and regrouping the film brand. Wan was asked what kind of adjustments he made as the film proceeded with everything switching over.

Grab your funderwear… because Luke Hobbs, and the man who plays him (that would be Dwayne Johnson in case you were unaware) is back back back for a new Fast & Furious spin-off movie.
The news is not all that surprising, since — spoiler alert in case you haven't watched Fast X – the lawman returned for a post-credits sting scene, drawn into a trap by Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa) as revenge for Hobbs' part in offing Dante's drug kingpin father in Fast Five.
Yet it would appear that the beef between Vin Diesel over on-set behaviour has well and truly been thrown on a barbecue and served with a cold Corona, despite Johnson publicly saying he'd never return to the franchise in 2021.
Johnson confirmed the news in a twitter video you can see below:

Vin Diesel, who voiced Groot in all three of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy films, agreed with the consensus surrounding Melchior’s performance, so he offered the Portuguese actor a role in Fast X as Isabel, Elena Neves’ (Elsa Pataky) street-racing sister.
Melchior knew that Gunn had forever changed her life when he cast her in April 2019, but receiving a direct offer for Fast X was when she felt it for the first time, career-wise.

There are really only two ways to become a successful action star. You can either come up through the ranks of the stunt world and hone your acting chops along the way, or start out as an actor first and mold yourself into a formidable fighter that's believable onscreen. Charlize Theron has done the latter, going from ingénue roles like "2 Days in the Valley" to an award-winning performance in "Monster" to instantly iconic action roles in "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Atomic Blonde." Theron has clearly caught the bug for close combat brawls and complex fight choreography, and with the sequels "The Old Guard 2" and "Atomic Blonde 2" on the way, audiences are going to be watching her kicking, punching, and shooting her way through Hollywood for the foreseeable future.
Theron could probably go toe-to-toe with Keanu Reeves at this point, which is why it seemed a little...

The ethos of the "Fast and Furious" franchise is best summed up with one word: family. In the beginning, it was all about fast cars and evading the law. But around the fifth movie or so, the concept of family became the motivating force of the narrative, outweighing any previous allegiance to money or thrills (though the thrills never left).
"Fast X" is one of the most family-centric of all the "Fast" movies, even if it does separate the clan for much of its runtime. Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) abuelita, played by the legendary Rita Moreno, shows up at the start of the film to remind Dom that family matters more than anything. And then there's Dom's son, Little Brian (Leo Abelo Perry), for whom Dom wants to provide a better life free of all the hardships he's experienced.

After the tonal shift to portray larger than life characters than its humble beginnings of Fast and Furious, the franchise was never too big on character writing to begin with, especially the ones with villainous tendencies. The major memorable adversaries during the first phase were the druglord, Carter Verone in 2 Fast, 2 Furious and Charlize Theron’s Cipher in recent entries. Although the Shaw brothers have proven themselves to be dangerous in the more overt aspects, their change in allegiance and background hardly allows them to be called villains. As the Fast franchise reaches its culmination, the first part of the concluding trilogy, Fast X, presents the oddball character of Dante Reyes through Jason Momoa, which can be considered the standout performance in an otherwise tedious movie. We will briefly discuss the character’s motivations and actions in the write-up, as well as the tease that was shown in the post-credits sequence,...

Buoyed by over-the-top stunts, the "Fast & Furious" franchise has never been subtle about much of anything, and this is especially true for retcons. Over the course of ten popcorn flicks, the series has introduced more than one long-lost #family member. In "Fast & Furious 6," Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw (first known as Ian Shaw) materialized as the brother of Luke Evans' villain, Owen Shaw. Just two years ago, "F9" revealed that the head of the family, Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto, had his own long-lost brother, Jakob (John Cena).
The trend continues in "Fast X," which, as others have pointed out, really missed out on the chance to call itself "Fast10 Your Seatbelts." The tenth "Fast & Furious" film has earned praise for the way it seamlessly integrates Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes — a contender for the franchise's best baddie, writes /Film's Rafael Motamayor — into footage from "Fast Five.

“Fast X,” the latest installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, is speeding to a projected $67.25 million debut at the domestic box office this weekend.
The street racing movie earned $28 million on Friday from 4,046 theaters, and is expected to gross another $22.43 million on Saturday and $16.82 million on Sunday. This will be enough to knock Disney and Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” out of the top spot, as the superhero tale is expected to pull in $32.89 million in its third weekend of release, bringing its North American total to over $267 million.
On Thursday, “Fast X” raked in $7.5 million in previews, setting it on track to earn more than $60 million in its first weekend of release. That puts the 10th chapter in the “Fast” saga at No. 7 in terms of highest box office debuts, between 2021’s “F9: The Fast Saga” ($70 million) and 2019’s “Hobbs and Shaw” ($60 million). Fans of the "Fast & Furious" franchise have known for months now that Jason Momoa's Dante is a pretty twisted dude. They know because the trailers make him out to be an explosive-happy villain who wants nothing more than to see our heroes dead. They also know because Momoa himself has said so, telling Variety last summer that the villain is "very sadistic," but also noting that he's "got a lot of issues." In another interview, Momoa described Dante as the type of predator that distracts its prey, saying, "I wanted to make him look inviting and easy-going, to have a softer side ... I want you to be intrigued by Dante Reyes, and when you get close, he has you."
After a full year spent hyping the character, I wondered exactly how "Fast X" would be able to deliver on the promise...

It's been just over 20 years, but the "Fast and Furious" saga is running out of road, and "Fast X" marks the beginning of the end. After going from small scale robberies to international espionage and even heading to space, there are not many other places to go, so "Fast X" involves a very "Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation" plot that finds the family on the run from their biggest threats yet -- The Agency that once shielded them, and also a live-action gender-fluid Bugs Bunny in the form of Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes.
Dante is the best villain the "Fast and Furious" franchise has got to date, and the best part of the movie. He is not just another guy who wants to rule the world, but one deeply obsessed with the events of "Fast Five," one who takes things personally and will stop at nothing until he destroys Dom and everything he loves.

Fast X director Louis Leterrier may have joined the Fast Saga in the most unusual of circumstances, but he’s made his presence felt in a big way.
Leterrier, who film fans know most as the helmer behind The Incredible Hulk (2008) and the Transporter franchise, replaced Fast mainstay Justin Lin, as the filmmaker departed the tenth chapter just one week into production. So when the offer to replace Lin came in, Leterrier, who was once in the running to direct The Fate of the Furious (2017), couldn’t resist the opportunity to finally join the franchise, even if it meant he’d be hitting the ground running with no time to prep. In fact, when he first walked onto set, he was immediately bowled over by Charlize Theron, who was going all out in a fight scene that was already being directed by the second unit.

Heavy spoilers for "Fast X" to follow.
"Fast and Furious" villains are as wildly different and escalating in goofiness. The franchise has evolved from being about street racers and low-stakes crime to an epic saga about family on the world stage, with seemingly immortal heroes matched by cartoon villains with plans to control nukes and other super weapons.
While plenty of the villains in the franchise are just drug lords and megalomaniacs with control issues who are rather forgettable, the best villains are the ones who take things personally. They don't care about profit or world domination nearly as much as they care about causing the family harm. Out of these, one stands out as by far the most stylish, unhinged, and dangerous villain the franchise has ever seen, Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes.
While Reyes is new as a villain, he has been here for a long time, watching and preparing from the shadows.

Fasten your seatbelts because Universal’s “Fast X” is racing into theaters this weekend, and it’s picked up $7.5 million in Thursday previews at the domestic box office.
The 10th “Fast and Furious” is predicted to open to more than $60 million. That would make it the franchise’s seventh-highest debut, between 2021’s “F9: The Fast Saga” ($70 million) and 2019’s “Hobbs and Shaw” spinoff ($60 million). In terms of Thursday previews, those movies made $7.1 million and $5.8 million, respectively.
“F9” released during the pandemic, when around 80% of theaters were still shuttered, giving “Fast X” a shaky outlook in the U.S. However, international sales have played a major part in the “Fast and Furious” global box office hauls. “Fast X” is targeting $220 million overseas in its first weekend. After costing $340 million to produce and $100 million to promote, “Fast X” will need to keep its foot on the gas after it opens to net a large profit.

Jason Momoa is pleased that 'Fast X' withheld a dramatic showdown between himself and Vin Diesel. The 43-year-old actor plays sadistic villain Dante Reyes in the new 'Fast and Furious' movie and is pleased that film bosses held back on a confrontation between Dante and Vin's character Dominic Toretto.Jason told Screen Rant: "We had a big fight scene planned for me and (Dom), and we've seen that we've done that. They don't need to get into the showdown of fighting each other."He constantly has the upper hand on Dom. And it's not true that we don't want to see them fight because that showdown's going to come and that'll be violent, especially with someone who just adores pain and is probably already dead inside."It's scary when someone's getting off on that pain. I wanted that to be there and, through that, his humour."Momoa...

This article will spoil the Fast X Ending.
Everybody does post-credits scenes now, and the Fast and Furious saga is no different, of course, with their post or mid-credits stingers often setting up whoever’s coming for Dom Toretto’s family next. For Fast X, however, things are a little different. We already know who the villain is, so in the film’s single bonus scene—which comes midway through the end credits, and as far as we know is not followed by anything else based on our press screening—we find out who else this fiend has got his sights set on.
At the end of Fast X, Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), vengeful son of Fast Five enemy Hernan Reyes, has seemingly got the Toretto clan right he wants them: Dom (Vin Diesel) and his son are trapped at the base of a massive dam that Dante is about to blow up,...

“Fast X,” the 10th installment in Universal’s high-octane franchise, is revving up to lead global box office charts. The movie is projected to open to $60 million or more in North America and at least $220 million at the international box office. Based on those estimates, “Fast X” is looking to capture $280 million worldwide in its first weekend of release.
In terms of domestic box office projections, a soft start around $60 million is below the latest entry, 2021’s “F9: The Fast Saga,” which kicked off to $70 million and ended its theatrical run with $173 million in North America. And that was at a time when Covid era restrictions meant only 80% of theaters were open and attendance hadn’t yet rebounded. It also lags way behind pre-pandemic “Fast” installments, including 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious” ($98 million debut), 2015’s “Furious 7” (a series-high $148 million debut) and 2013’s “Fast and Furious 6” ($97 million debut...

You may recall that the last entry in the Fast and Furious saga, 2021’s F9, featured a sequence in which two of the Avengers our heroes—the comic foils Tyrese Gibson and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges—drove a car into outer space. There is not anything quite as wacky as that in the 10th and latest installment, Fast X, but there are still plenty of reality-defying stunts that keep this franchise from returning to Earth in any fashion that’s recognizably rooted in reality.
Still, back in F9, one got the sense that the film was at least leaning into its sheer ridiculousness, which made it more palatable and entertaining. With one notable exception, however, Dominic Toretto’s much-discussed Family is now taking itself far too seriously. As a result, the 141-minute movie is a fairly lumbering and tedious sit.

Let’s play a game: Picture a Fast Saga action sequence. Dom’s crew dragging a vault down a highway in Rio. Vin Diesel dropping a parking garage on Jason Statham (who is somehow not horrifically crippled afterward). Michelle Rodriguez harpooning Gina Carano out of a plane as it’s speeding down the tarmac. Doesn’t matter which one. Dreamer’s choice. Now, mentally swap out Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker, etc. with any of the Looney Tunes. The effect is more or less the same.
Love it or hate it, The Fast and the Furious brand has gotten so much mileage out of its cartoonish approach to action that it’s tough to dismiss its charm. We’re three weeks into the summer movie season, and it’s looking much like previous months where only one or two movies are doing well, while all else flounders. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.

For all the frothy motions of the Fast & Furious franchise, whose characters at this point practically qualify as superheroes, the films have traditionally tried to ground their full-throttle, physics-defying set pieces with goofy yet good-hearted characterizations around relationships to family. You don’t come to these movies for interpersonal drama, but the best entries are aided by their attempts to keep things within the stratosphere of the relatable.
Fast X jumps the shark in that regard. On a scene-to-scene basis, Louis Leterrier’s film, which suggests a Masala production by way of the MCU, isn’t any more implausible than The Fate of the Furious and F9. But between its overly lit, ultra-saturated images and hammy performances, Fast X recalls the old Batman TV series, or a spy parody like Austin Powers in Goldmember.

Not too many film franchises stick around for more than two decades, but the insanely wild motorized antics of Fast X roar ahead without a thought of applying the brakes.
With its seemingly inexhaustible supply of madly amusing action, this high-octane extravaganza attempts, and not infrequently succeeds, in obliterating any resistance with its disarming, outrageous and self-aware injections of often-hilarious camp. It’s a sometimes jaw-dropping ride that circles the globe in its never-ending search for fresh locations and ways to up the cinematic ante; in the process, it’s able to break down and prevail over its fundamental ludicrousness. It cost a bloody a fortune (reportedly over $300 million) but will make an even bigger one.

"Fast X," which is set to hit theaters on May 19, will mark the beginning of the end of the Fast and Furious franchise. Initially, the series was meant to wrap up with a two-part finale. However, at the "Fast X" premiere in Rome, Italy, on May 12, Vin Diesel, who's led the franchise as Dominic Toretto since 2001, teased the movies could end with a trilogy instead. Although he didn't officially confirm or deny anything, his co-star Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz) fueled the rumors by telling Fandango, "It's three acts in any story."
If it's true, then the series will officially end after 13 movies. Castmembers like Diesel, Rodriguez, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris have starred in the majority of the "Fast and Furious" films, while Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham led the 2019 spinoff film "Hobbs & Shaw." However, this time the film will blend in the themes of parenthood and survival.
Talking about the evolution of the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise, the actor told Ians: “By blood or by bond, family is family. Jason Momoa is really happy he finally got to play a villain. While the "Aquaman" star has technically played the odd antagonist in lesser known films, there's no doubt he's better known for his more heroic roles, which is ... basically all of them. But in "Fast X" we'll get to see the actor tap into his evil side, and no one is more excited about it than Momoa himself.
Speaking to Variety, Momoa said he had the "time of [his] life" starring in "Fast X" as Dante Reyes, the son of drug lord Hernan Reyes (who served as the bad guy in 2011's "Fast Five"). The actor also promised his character will be "very sadistic" with some definite "daddy issues." Which, in a franchise that features family as one of its central themes, will no doubt provide some intriguing tension as Dante looks to take revenge against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel...

Vin Diesel is teasing a potential 12th “Fast and Furious” film.
The long-standing franchise, which kicked off in 2001, was expected to end after the 11th and final instalment in the saga, however Diesel is giving fans some hope that the finale may end with a 12th film instead.
The upcoming “Fast X” — the franchise’s 10th instalment — is supposed to be the first film in the two-part finale, followed by the 11th movie, but, on Friday at the “Fast X” world premiere in Rome, Diesel let it slip that there’s a possibility that the finale may be split across three films, meaning a surprise 12th film could be in the works.

On the same day TheWrap broke the news exclusively that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has returned to the “Fast and Furious” franchise, the film had one of its first screenings, and you know what that means: The first reactions are in.
So how do viewers feel about “Fast X,” the latest installment of the retroactively named “Fast Saga”? Is the #Family thrilled? Or did the new Dom Toretto and Friends adventure blow a gasket?
To answer that question, it seems some people loved it, some people noted a lot of flaws, and as is usual for this series, often they were the same people. But everyone seems to agree that Jason Momoa is an absolute delight as the film’s villain, and that the spectacle rules.
“Jason Momoa is a high front runner for Best Supporting Actor at next years Oscars,” The Atom Review crowed.
