Can it really be 20 years since “The O.C.” premiered on Fox? The young actors of the series, Benjamin McKenzie, Adam Brody, Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson quickly became in-demand stars and the theme song “California” by Phantom Planet became a top ten hit in several countries while also reaching 35 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart.
The bagel-centric series also introduced us to “Chrismukkah” and showcased bands from The Killers to Modest Mouse.
Several members of the cast went on to lead their own series and films and others have popped up on hit shows from “How I Met Your Mother” to “Grey’s Anatomy.” Here’s what they’ve been up to since “The O.C.” signed off in February 2007.

Benjamin McKenzie, who played O.C. newbie Ryan Atwood, went on to star as an LA cop on TNT’s “Southland” and as James Gordon on Fox’s Batman prequel series “Gotham.

Armstrong, who had a recurring role as Anna Stern on “The O.C.” from 2003 to 2006, ran for mayor in the small city of Sedona, Arizona. It became apparent in the closing hours of the election that the right-wing politician would fall short in her campaign against previous vice mayor Scott Jablow.

Please bear with me, because I'm going where no '90s baby has gone before. It's uncharted territory and quite possibly the most jarring position of devil's advocate that's ever been played, but I'm about to tell you why Seth Cohen was the f*cking worst on The O.C. If you don't want to ruin your perception of the so-called nice boy of Newport, I don't recommend reading further. But if you're ready to see the characters of your favorite early 2000s show in a whole new light, buckle up and enjoy the ride.
I recently found myself with some time on my hands. Game of Thrones is taking its sweet time to return for season eight, and there's only so many times I can rewatch Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage episodes, so I decided to binge all four seasons of The O.C. on Hulu. To paraphrase the great band Devo, when a problem comes along, you must deal with it. And that's exactly what Spencer (Timothy Omundson) does in our exclusive clip from Carter & June, heading to theaters on May 18, 2018. As you might imagine, based on that title alone, the film revolves around Carter and June, but it's clear Omundson will also play a key role. Nicholas Kalikow directed. The synopsis describes Carter & June thusly: "Inventive blackmail schemes, flamboyant gangsters, power politics, greed, evangelicals and sex collide in this action packed dark comedy heist." The clip, which you can watch below, certainly gives us a good taste of what's...

"All we need is five minutes alone in that vault." Freestyle Digital Media has released an official trailer for action comedy heist film Carter & June, the latest from producer / director Nicholas Kalikow (Concrete Blondes). This dark comedy, action crime thriller mainly features "inventive blackmail schemes, flamboyant gangsters, power politics, greed, evangelicals and sex," which sounds like fun. The cast features Samaire Armstrong as June, and Michael Raymond-James as Carter, and also includes Timothy Omundson, James Landry Hébert, Paul Rae, Lindsay Musil, and Will Beinbrink. This doesn't look as good as I was expecting, but it does have some offbeat humor to offer. Not for me, but may be for you, give it a watch. NCIS is getting personal.
On Tuesday’s episode, titled “Fake It ‘Til You Make It,” NCIS pulls the curtains back on the personal life of MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves. When a close friend, Melissa Goodman (guest star Samaire Armstrong), gets abducted, he’s forced to declassify to his comrades their connection -- that they met through Alcoholics Anonymous -- in order to help save her. The show about people returning from the dead -- is now dead itself. ABC has cancelled their Resurrection TV series after two seasons on the air.
On Resurrection, a small town in Missouri is turned upside down when long-dead loved ones return after 30 years. The cast includes Omar Epps, Frances Fisher, Matt Craven, Devin Kelley, Mark Hildreth, Samaire Armstrong, Sam Hazeldine, Landon Gimenez, and Kurtwood Smith.
The series debuted well but the ratings declined over the course of its first season -- averaging a 2.52 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.32 million viewers. The network brought it back anyway and the second season debut was down by more than 40% when compared to the series debut.

Last spring, this ABC show fell in the ratings over the course of its first season. The network renewed Resurrection anyway. Was that a mistake? Will the ratings keep falling so that it's cancelled? Or, will they rise so that it'll be renewed for a third season? Stay tuned.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest.

Late in the 2013-14 season, NBC and ABC launched three new Sunday night dramas -- all with single word titles. NBC cancelled Crisis and Believe while ABC renewed Resurrection for a second season. In retrospect, was that a good decision for the alphabet network? Should Resurrection have been cancelled as well?

Seth Cohen's character in The O.C. was much more than just a nerd punch-line, Wil argues, he paved the way for comic-book movie success...
We all have touchstones in adolescent life that end up shaping who we become. I’m sure we all share a few of them. Maybe it’s Holden Caulfield. Maybe it’s Kurt Cobain. Maybe it’s The Smiths or Fight Club or Ghost World. All of those had an effect on me, but I’m not ashamed to say that the one who had the biggest effect was Seth Cohen, a character in the early 2000s Fox teen soap opera The O.C.
Seth Cohen was awesome. He was awkward and read Chuck Klosterman and drew superheroes and wore the coolest t-shirts. He brought comic books, twee indie rock and snarky internet knowingness to a show few would associate with geekiness, and blasted all those things into the mainstream.

Resurrection Season One DVD Review
Resurrection seems like the epitome of a series that didn’t expect to last past the first four episodes. When I wrote my original review of the show, and gave it a high rating, I said the show’s great weakness to that point was that it didn’t seem to want to commit to how weird it was going to be. It creates an opening within the first few episodes that leave viewers unable to be confident that it is about to lean toward the very weird, or toward an almost straight, “normal” drama that just happens to involve very abnormal events.
That isn’t even a problem in one sense, because not knowing where things are going isn’t a bad theory. Where it becomes tricky is insofar as viewers want to know just how goofy the twists and turns are apt to become.

This show doesn't need reviving. ABC has renewed their new Resurrection TV series for a second season.
On Resurrection, a small town in Missouri is turned upside down when deceased loved ones start to return. The cast includes Omar Epps, Kurtwood Smith, Frances Fisher, Devin Kelley, Matt Craven, Samaire Armstrong, Mark Hildreth, Sam Hazeldine, and Landon Gimenez.
Following a lot of promotion, this drama debuted to a very strong 3.8 rating with 13.9 million viewers. The ratings have fallen quite a bit in the last few weeks but it's still generating positive numbers for ABC. The network has had a tough time filling their Sunday night schedule and this is one of only two new ABC dramas that have had any success in the ratings.
What do you think? Have you been watching this show? Are you glad that it's been renewed...

Samaire Armstrong is ready to start preaching. The “O.C.” veteran, who currently stars in the hit ABC drama “Resurrection,” will star as a female minister in the upcoming TV movie “Match Made in Heaven,” which will premiere on the Up network later this year. Based on the novel “Heavens to Betsy” by female minister Beth Pattillo, “Match Made in Heaven” will star Armstrong as Rev. Casey Hart, a senior minister who finds herself at a crossroads in her professional and love life. Faced with a leaking baptistery and match-making parishioners who steal from the collection box and doubt the validity of.

Did I really die? That questions is at the center of ABC's highly anticipated new drama Resurrection, which finally debuted on Sunday night. Starring Omar Epps, Frances Fisher, Matt Craven and Samaire Armstrong, ABC's latest series centers on the small town of Arcadia, Missouri, and its inhabitants whose lives are completely turned upside down when their loved ones start returning from the dead. The first of the walking dead (Sorry, couldn't resist!) we meet? 8-year-old Jacob (Landon Giminez), who wakes up mysteriously in China. The catch? He, along with his aunt Barbara, died 32 years ago, but he still looks eight. Creepy? Yes. Entertaining? Double yes. The pilot...

Resurrection, the new supernatural series about a boy who resurfaces 32 years after his apparent death, premiered on ABC Sunday night.
'Resurrection' Recap
In a rice paddy in China, a little boy clad in jeans and a red sweatshirt wakes up, takes in a large breath and wanders through the nearby town. There, after he’s approached by a concerned couple, he faints. The boy’s story is later recounted to Agent Martin Bellamy (Omar Epps). All the agent has to work with to identify the boy is the inscription of “Jacob” inside his shirt and its Mansfield Panthers logo.
Bellamy eventually contacts the Arcadia, Mo., police department and asks if there are any missing children. The sheriff informs the agent that no kids are missing from the town and promptly hangs up. Still convinced that Arcadia is the boy’s home, he asks Jacob (Landon Gimenez) if he...

When a show has a central mystery — in the case of ABC’s Resurrection, which premiered Sunday night, why deceased loved ones have returned alive and un-aged from the day they died — the question isn’t whether the concept is interesting. It is. It’s whether an audience will be hooked enough (and patient enough) to watch every week or, in today’s world, just wait and Google for the answer when the series ends. The difference, I believe, comes down to how quickly producers can both get you invested in the characters — which is difficult when cards must be...

Resurrection Review
ABC has been trying to hit on a lot of fronts lately, but nothing has been a more clear shot at fans of Lost than the upcoming Resurrection. The trailers don’t exactly give you that impression (see sizzle reel below), but they hint that it might be there, as does the general premise.
We watch as Jacob awakes in a rice field in China, clearly in unfamiliar territory. The case soon falls to Immigration agent J. Martin Bellamy (Omar Epps), who only knows that Jacob has made his way back to the United States, but hasn’t spoken a word since he was found. Though Martin is supposed to just drop Jacob off with Child Protective Services, he seems to be getting some information out of Jacob, and when Jacob confirms that he can find his way home, in Arcadia, Missouri, Martin takes him there.

Returning from the dead has been all the rage – sorry – in TV land over the past few years. Of course we have The Walking Dead and several zombie-themed episodes on shows from Grimm to Castle, but lately there’s been a new kind of post-dead series making an appearance, that’s neither zombie-based nor ghostly. It’s people who just simply, inexplicably (at least at first) return from the dead.
There are a few such shows currently in development, but one has been on our screens recently, and another is coming our way in March. The first, the absolutely excellent The Returned, aired on The Sundance Channel in December. It’s a French series with subtitles, but gained quite the cult-ish following – including me – and a lot of critical acclaim. It has been picked up for a second season. During the hustle and bustle of the holidays, ABC aired a new teaser for its upcoming "Resurrection," and in case you missed it, we have a look at it right here. The show rises on Sunday, March 9th.
"Resurrection" Synopsis:
The people of Arcadia, Missouri, are forever changed when their deceased loved ones suddenly start to return. An 8-year-old American boy (Landon Gimenez) wakes up alone in a rice paddy in a rural Chinese province with no idea how he got there.
Details start to emerge when the boy, who calls himself Jacob, recalls that his hometown is Arcadia; and an Immigration agent, Martin Bellamy (Omar Epps), takes him there. The home he claims as his own is occupied by an elderly couple, Harold (Kurtwood Smith) and Lucille Garland (Frances Fisher), who lost their son, Jacob, more than 30 years ago. While they look different, young Jacob recognizes them as his parents.

Sons of Anarchy dealt with the school shooting fallout on "One One Six," with two lives being lost at Piney's cabin and Lee Toric continuing to plot Samcro's demise.
Will Jax be able to get the club out of guns? Is there any hope for his marriage? And do you have any sympathy for Juice? TV Fanatic staffers Matt Richenthal, Dan Forcella and Christine Orlando debate these questions and more with Cine Taylor from Sons-of-Anarchy.net below. Jump in and join them now!
-------------------------------------------
What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Matt: Probably Nero's breakdown after Jax had the mother whacked. Jimmy Smits has crafted a nicely layered gang boss here, one who tries to balance sentiment with shootings. Sadly, however, I fear his emotion will be Nero's fatal undoing in the end.
Dan: I'm going to go with least favorite: when Nero shots his dude in the head.

Sons of Anarchy, Season 6: Episode 2 – “One One Six”
Written by Chris Collins & Adria Lang
Directed by Peter Weller
Airs Tuesdays at 10pm Et on FX
FX has pretty much let Kurt Sutter have his way with Sons of Anarchy. Even when disregarding how combative the series is with non-premium cable content (Sons is constantly pushing violence and sex to their extremes within the basic cable boundaries), the series is just structurally different from anything else on TV by design. Sutter and the other writers get their ideas together, and if those ideas fit into a traditional 42- to 45-minute episode, great. If those ideas extend to something that ends up being 59 minutes, that’s great too, because FX doesn’t police this show when it comes to length. What that means is that Sons sometimes drops a truly fantastic episode of television, because Sutter has so much going on...

Freaks and Geeks Episode 16 ‘Smooching and Mooching’
Written by Steve Barros
Directed by Jake Kasdan
Aired 7/8/2000 on NBC
By the time the script for ‘Smooching and Mooching’ was broken in the writer’s room, the writing was on the wall for Freaks and Geeks. Knowing they only had three episodes left to work with, they attempted to cram as much into those episodes as possible – especially ‘Smooching and Mooching’, an episode that pales in comparison to its counterparts, mostly because there’s just too much going on for it all to be effective. It’s a melange of great scenes and performances, no doubt (headlined by Jason Segel and John Francis Daley), but it’s clear that the script tries to pull in one too many directions to really be effective.
The bit that really doesn’t work for me is Bill’s diatribe against Vicki during their ‘Seven Minutes...

Few things are more disheartening and frustrating to fans of series as when their scheduling is wonky. You know, three weeks on, two weeks off. Shows lose momentum and the less committed fans lose interest and everyone gets scared that the show will get canceled.
Happily, ABC has announced its plans to run at least some of its shows’ seasons with few to no interruptions, before and after the winter break, and that’s good news (and slightly bad news) for us.
It affects Once Upon a Time and new series Resurrection. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is of course not affected since it is, at least currently, considered to be a limited, 13-episode series.
The bad news part of the decision is that we’ll be waiting a bit before we’ll see the return and the premiere. Both shows will air on Sunday, March 9, with the midseason...
