1983 Secondary school leaving certificate, 1986 Abitur at the Wirtschaftsgymnasium in Schwäbisch Gmünd. 1986 to 1988 German Armed Forces with training as reserve officer, current rank: captain in the reserve. 1988 to 1992 studies of technically oriented business administration at the University of Stuttgart, diploma in business administration, 1997 doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.).
1992 to 1997 employed at Energieversorgung Schwaben AG; 1997 to 2002 head of economic and employment promotion of the state capital Stuttgart, since 2003 freelance consultant, since 2006 lecturer for energy policy at the Institute for Energy Economics and Rational Energy Use (IER) of the University of Stuttgart.
Founding member of the Förder- und Trägerverein Literatur- und Medienhaus Stuttgart e. V., member of the Museums- und Heimatverein Urbach, Atlantikbrücke e. V. and the Reserveoffiziersgesellschaft Stuttgart.
Joined the Junge Union in 1982, member of the CDU since 1985, district chairman of the Junge Union Rems-Murr from 1990 to 1994, district chairman in Rems-Murr since 2000, member of the CDU Economic Council.
