From 1976 to 1985 public prosecutor in Münster, Hagen and Dortmund, from 1985 to 1990 senior public prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor's Office in Hamm, from 1978 to 1984 lecturer on "Criminal Law" at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, from 1985 to 1989 head of trainee lawyers' working groups.
Member of the FDP since 1980; member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state executive committee; chairman of the Westphalia-South district association.
