Harrison Ford has been known for his gritty and hard-boiled roles in his long career. While he has been part of adventurous films such as the Indiana Jones franchise, he is mostly known for his grim action films such as Air Force One, The Fugitive, and Blade Runner.
The actor has gotten the reputation of being a no-nonsense man off-screen as well due to his brutal honesty. However, one interview with his Blade Runner 2049 co-star Ryan Gosling seemed to have broken him out of his shell. The 1923 star can be seen laughing his heart out in an interview with Alison Hammond on This Morning, which surprised many fans.

It’s no secret that the most famous character of Steven Spielberg movies is, undoubtedly, Dr. Henry Walton Jones, more known as Indiana Jones. The witty and inventive nature of the fictional professor of archaeology was well-demonstrated by Harrison Ford, who portrayed the iconic hero in all of the franchise's movies.
However, almost nobody knows that this character, written by the Star Wars father and Spielberg’s close friend, George Lucas, took a lot from a little-known action hero from the 1964 French-Italian movie, giving a lot of inspiration to filmmakers.
It starts by presenting the determined Adrien (played by Jean-Paul Belmondo), who embarks on a trip with his fiancée Agnès (Françoise Dorléac), the archaeologist’s daughter, who knows the location of the stolen Amazonian statuette of great value.
This knowledge becomes the reason why Agnès gets kidnapped, and it forces Adrien to do his best not only to save her,...

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and insects go a long way. Starting with Supernatural, the very 8th episode of the first season focuses on bugs and only those. So much so that the episode was even named after them. While the actor was not involved in the particular episode, the entire ongoing theme of the season was for the brothers to find their father, that is, John Winchester.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Supernatural
For his role in The Walking Dead: Dead City, the actor went above and beyond to get into character. So much so that he could easily be compared to Indiana Jones himself. While both have contrasting environments they developed from, there is one thing that ties them together, their dedication to get over their fears.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan Overcame His Fears
Tell Jeffrey Dean Morgan to pick up a spiked bat and slam it against zombie heads and he’ll be all for it.

The year was 1973; George Lucas had just finished writing the screenplay for what would be his hit coming-of-age story American Graffiti. A poster on a wall caught his eye, an image of a dream of the old serialized films he enjoyed as a child. Films such as Buck Rogers, Zorro’s Fighting Legion and Spy Smasher flashed through his brain as he had the idea of bringing that type of B-level hero to the big screen. He would take this idea and flesh out a story of a college professor who moonlit as an archeologist adventurer. Little did he know that simple idea would yield one of the greatest and most enduring franchises in movie history as his character Indiana Jones has gone on to appear in five feature films over the course of 42 years that have grossed nearly $2 billion at the worldwide box office. For many, any time the character graces the screen,...

While 2023 was a great year for original releases, that is not true for several major franchises, including the fifth installment in Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones series. After being in the Disney oven for a long while, the sequel to 2008’s The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finally saw the light, which, for the first time in the franchise, didn’t see Steven Spielberg helming.
Led by James Mangold, Dial of Destiny had a huge challenge heading into the box office, following its humongous budget, and unfortunately, ended up becoming a huge financial disaster. But despite becoming a huge flop, it’s nowhere close to the biggest box-office flop in the last decade.

Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny’s Financial Report Reveals How Much Loss It Suffered After Almost A Year Of The Film’s Release ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Harrison Ford led Indiana Jones, and the Dial of Destiny was reportedly the last installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, the sequel to 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. There are five films in the franchise, and it has grossed over $2 billion at the worldwide box office. However, as per recent reports, the last movie suffered a massive loss at the box office. Scroll below for more.
The first film in this series was released in 1981, and Harrison Ford became a legend portraying the iconic character. He was de-aged for the fifth installment, and it reportedly took over 100 artists at the Industrial Light and Magic to achieve the task. They spent three years on the movie’s visual effects.

Italy’s Indiana Production – which is part of pan-European studio Vuelta Group – is making a significant move into the comedy space by forging a multi-picture deal and a creative collaboration pact with multihyphenate Gennaro Nunziante who has directed top local hits including “Quo Vado” that is the country’s all-time highest grosser.
Nunziante – who is a writer/director and sometimes actor – and Indiana are jointly mounting a pipeline of theatrical movies with smart storylines rooted in present-day social issues that, at least in some cases, will seek to travel outside Italy.
The Indiana comedies strand being shepherded by Nunziante, has two lines of development. One dedicated to established talents, the other to discovering and nurturing up-and-coming comics, including from the stand-up sphere, as well as young comedy writers and creators.
New Italian comedy talents they have recruited comprise the Milan-based comedy group Contenuti Zero who have a broad TV and social media fanbase.

Although it’s difficult to imagine that someone would say no to Steven Spielberg – the guy who changed cinema with 1975’s Jaws, Eon studios apparently rejected him. According to reports, after earning popularity and experience following Jaws, Spielberg wanted to direct a James Bond movie. But unfortunately, despite begging producer Cubby Broccoli for a chance, the filmmaker was turned down.

Being a relatively unknown actor in the 1980s, Harrison Ford found fame through his breakthrough role as Indiana Jones. Starring alongside Karen Allen and working with veteran director Steven Spielberg, Ford had quite a good run as Jones.

Tom Selleck is one of the most well-known television actors in Hollywood at present. A decorated thespian, Selleck has an arms-length list of accolades to his name. He has appeared in several popular shows, such as the long-running Blue Bloods and Magnum, P.I., playing the titular character, for which he received several Emmy Award nominations. Given Selleck’s standing in the television industry, he is also one of the richest actors around.
Tom Selleck‘s acting genius is not just limited to television, though. He has also acted in movies, such as Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel, Three Men and a Lady (1990), where he played the bachelor architect, Peter Mitchell. Carrie Fisher took the virginity of Indiana Jones. At least, that's how she told it while she was alive. Specifically, that's what she told me. In her own words: "I wrote it with George [Lucas.] We wrote Indiana Jones losing his virginity to Mata Hari. It went very well."
I had been asking about her work on the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy, so this answer came a bit out of left field. However, it's a little-known fact that Fisher worked as a writer on many George Lucas projects, doing an uncredited polish on the scripts for the prequels and even coming up with adventures for Indiana Jones to go on in his TV series, "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles."
So, how did Indiana Jones actually lose his virginity, and what part did Fisher play?

Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first movie of the new Star Wars slate, which means that it will likely hit theaters in 2026.
Disney currently has two Star Wars movies on the schedule for that year: May 22, 2026 and December 18, 2026. Bob Iger’s comments seem to indicate that The Mandalorian & Grogu will fill that first slot, but as this is Star Wars we’re talking about, anything could happen. Immediately following the announcement of the 2024 Oscar nominations, our forums were flooded with reactions from our notoriously opinionated posters, many of whom are industry insiders shielded by screen names. As in previous years, the recognition of certain movies and artists elicited jubilant praise, while the exclusion (and inclusion) of others sparked disappointment and even fury.
The vastly varied response to this year’s roster of Oscar contenders proves once again that the academy can’t please all film fans. Below is just a sampling of our sassy forum posters’ brutally honest comments regarding the 2024 nominees. Take a look, then join the conversation if you dare.

The ballots are in, and the nominations for the 96th annual Academy Awards are final. And with their announcement early Tuesday morning comes a new year’s worth of snubs and surprises. Yet 2024 has a particular twinge of deja vu because like on a frosty January morning in 2020, Greta Gerwig was notably passed over in the Best Director category.
Indeed, the biggest movie of 2023 will go on to have the biggest snubs at the following year’s Oscars ceremony, with Barbie‘s Gerwig missing out on the Best Director shortlist and star Margot Robbie being absent in the Best Actress category, despite their film being nominated for Best Picture. The latter omission was always a strong possibility given how competitive Best Actress was this year, and with Emma Stone (Poor Things), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), and Carey Mulligan (Maestro) all locked in as frontrunners ( and probably...

This week, Lucasfilm and Bethesda, the makers of hit video games like "Fallout" and "Elder Scrolls," provided an exciting first look at their upcoming Indiana Jones video game. Titled "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle," the game is a first-person adventure (one made for the Xbox Series X/S and PC) that puts players into the shoes of Dr. Henry Jones Jr. as he embarks on yet another thrilling quest for archaeological glory. However, with a total of five films in the Indiana Jones film franchise, you might be wondering: when does this particular story take place? Fortunately, we have the answer.
The trailer for "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" shows us a younger Indiana Jones, so it was clear this wouldn't be taking place closer to the recently released "Dial of Destiny" or even "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Instead, the official press release for the Indy video...

Three years after we learned of the game's existence, Bethesda and Lucasfilm Games are finally pulling back the curtain on the upcoming "Indiana Jones" video game. Revealed during the Xbox Developer Direct event, we now have the first gameplay trailer for "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle." We didn't even have a title previously, so even that is revealing. But we've got a lot more to chew on, starting with the trailer above.
Bethesda originally announced the game back in 2021 with a brief teaser trailer. This is, to say the least, far more comprehensive. The footage most certainly captures the feel of Steven Spielberg's films, with a John Williams-esque musical score providing a major assist. The other key thing is that the game is going to be a first-person experience, which will put the player more firmly in Indy's shoes, as opposed to a third-person experience. Whether or...

Three years after Bethesda released the first teaser trailer for developer MachineGames (Wolfenstein: The New Order) new Indiana Jones game, the publisher finally revealed actual gameplay footage of the project that is now officially titled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. While there’s quite a lot to say about what we saw in that trailer, the biggest takeaway from the preview may instead be something we heard: Indiana Jones’ voice actor.
Indiana Jones has a surprising amount of things to say in the first gameplay trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but his voice may be more notable than his words. In fact, shortly after the trailer was released, some were left wondering if Bethesda had actually convinced Harrison Ford to step into the voice booth and reprise his role for the upcoming game. Others speculated that the studio must have simply found a fairly convincing impersonator.

Host Chelsea Handler was among those responsible for bringing Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie to the stage at Sunday night’s Critics Choice Awards to accept the best comedy movie award for Barbie in an unplanned moment.
The award was announced early in the night as a roundup of several categories before a commercial break, with the camera cutting briefly to the Barbie table, where Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera (who was honored with the SeeHer Award) and others cheered the news. While the film won a total of six awards, only one of those categories (best song for “I’m Just Ken”) was presented onstage with the winners able to give an acceptance speech.
Later in the show, Handler surprised attendees and viewers — and the Barbie folks — by rectifying that.

In this edition, we've got the final "Indiana Jones" movie, a new animated version of those pizza-loving Ninja Turtles, Guillermo del Toro's take on "Pinocchio," a cult classic about some kids fighting monsters, Peter Falk solving mysteries, a rather disappointing legacy horror sequel, an original sci-fi flick from the director of "Rogue One," a biopic parody, a movie about killer animatronic pizza restaurant mascots, and a stone-cold classic from Oliver Stone. So let's get to it, and keep spinning those discs. See ya in 2024!

Indiana Jones returned to our screens earlier this year after a 15-year absence with "Dial of Destiny," a movie Lex Briscuso called "an action-packed, high-octane super soaker of a film, while at the same time amounting to a beautiful final conquest and farewell" in her review for /Film. The film ignores all the bad parts of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (even poor Mutt) and has a cool sort-of crossover with "For All Mankind" in Mads Mikkelsen's character.
The biggest surprise of the film, however, is its big third-act moment. Following the wrath of God, a Templar ghost doing riddles, and literal aliens is no small feat. And yet, "Dial of Destiny" goes big and bold in its grand finale, which makes it one of the best sci-fi movies of the year.

Some movies just don't seem to age, and "Blade Runner" is one of them. Aside from the fact that the film is one of the most influential sci-fi flicks in cinema history, thanks to the efforts of director Ridley Scott and his production designer Lawrence G. Paull, the 1982 classic remains one of the most stunningly realized films ever made. The immersive world of Scott's dystopian sci-fi gave the impression, as Christopher Nolan once put it, of a "whole world outside the frame of the scene." That's made even more impressive when you consider the production team had a limited VFX budget and constructed most of the sets and visual effects practically.
In other words, "Blade Runner" doesn't look a tad dated even more than 40 years after its debut. Alas, the same can't be said for the cast. The sad truth is that, despite Joe Russo celebrating the inevitable rise of...

There’s a rhythm missing to Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and a beat that it doesn’t quite hit. Indy 5, officially titled Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, will most likely be the conclusion of the franchise, according to Disney.
Harrison Ford returned for one last worldwide adventure in Indy 5, this time joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena Shaw (Indiana's goddaughter) and the villainous Jürgen Voller played by Mads Mikkelsen.
Despite the triumphant return to theaters 15 years after the fourth Indiana Jones installment, Indy 5 was a box office flop and lost the studio money, putting into question any future installments.

With Halloween now just days away, America’s thoughts turn increasingly to witches, demons, the paranormal and scaring the heck out of ourselves. And of course, few things accomplish this goal better than horror movies, a genre the United States has largely claimed as its own. To get everyone in the spirit, the website bank-locations.net launched a state-by-state study of Google to discern (based on searches) which Halloween-themed flicks were most popular in each state of the union.
To generate its conclusions, the research team analyzed 200+ top-rated horror films from IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, then studied specific searches for each movie. For example, for “The Shining,” they gathered keywords like “watch the shining,” “the shining full movie,” “”the shining streaming, “The shining netflix” and “where to watch the shining.”

The Silver Surfer hasn’t been treated well on the big screen. When 20th Century Fox announced the character would be appearing in their 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, well, we’d be lying if we said fans were enthusiastic, given the lackluster reaction to the first film. But, people were happy that Doug Jones would be playing the role in motion capture, even if Lawrence Fishburne doing the voice seemed like an odd mismatch. When it came out in the summer of 2007, reviews were slightly more optimistic than they were for this first film, but it was a box-office disappointment. Yet, we think it’s not quite as bad as people remember as we dig into this episode of Marvel Revisited.

Cool Stuff: Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny's 4K And Blu-Ray Has A Score-Only Cut Of The Movie
"Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" may not have been the hit that Disney probably needed it to be after spending a fortune on the film's production and not exactly getting the glory it deserved. But movies always get a second chance at finding their footing when they hit home media, and when the Indiana Jones sequel arrives on 4K and Blu-ray in December, it's coming with a solid assembly of special features, including a score-only version of the movie that pays special attention to the music created by master composer John Williams.
In addition, the physical media release will also include an array of featurettes that focus on the various locations Indiana Jones travels to on his latest adventure, complete with highlights for new characters, stunts, music, production design and visual effects, whilst also bidding a fond farewell to one of cinema's greatest heroes, played by the incomparable Harrison Ford.

Zack Snyder almost helped get “Rick and Morty” to the big screen.
According to series creator Dan Harmon, the “Justice League” helmer offered to assist greenlighting a feature-length take on the animated show at Warner Bros.
“Not him saying, ‘I get to do it,’ or anything like that,” Harmon clarified to The Hollywood Reporter. “He was totally a super fan and was just like, ‘Is there any way I can help get that movie started by using my Snyder-ness?'”
Harmon joked, “So, the ‘Rick and Morty’ movie is coming as soon as Zack Snyder gets back from his vacation, because I want to start with a Snyder cut of that movie and then I want to do the director’s cut of a Snyder cut release, so we can just have a six-hour ‘Rick and Morty; movie and three hours of it is in black and white.”

If there's anything Harrison Ford hopes he's made clear through his portrayal of Indiana Jones, it's this: You don't get to bring an icon to life on the big screen by having him stay exactly the same, frozen in amber, for over four decades. Although many questioned the need for a fourth "Indiana Jones" sequel this past summer. with James Mangold's "Dial of Destiny" -- citing the grizzled, 81-year-old actor's age as the biggest reason to leave this old-fashioned archaeologist in the past where he belongs -- Ford saw this as the biggest reason to make the movie in the first place. In fact, the idea of bringing something new to the character with every movie has been his one constant every time he suited up in that battered fedora and strapped on his trusty whip.

Although "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is probably the most widely beloved of them, a strong argument can be made that "The Last Crusade" is the real best entry in the Indiana Jones franchise. The duplicitous Elsa makes for perhaps the most compelling of Indy's love interests, and the introduction of Sean Connery as Indy's father paves the way for a more introspective look at Indiana as a person. "Temple of Doom" might technically be the only prequel in the series, but it's this third movie that seems most interested in exploring Indy's past.
The result is that this is the most intimate of the "Indiana Jones" movies, the one that cares the most about its main character's emotional journey. It's a choice that's reflected in the cinematography, which favors close-ups over the wider shots of the first two films. Some of the most memorable images of "Raiders" are...

When James Mangold took the adventuring archaeologist reins from Steven Spielberg on "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," fans were wary for a couple of reasons. One was the simple fact that, aside from ABC's "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles," Spielberg was the series' sole director. As the "Jaws" sequels and the "Jurassic World" series proved, no one can match The Beard when it comes to terrifying and elating audiences, sometimes in the same scene. The other fear had to do with legacy. When Harrison Ford announced at September 2022's D23 expo that this was his last go-round in the fedora ("I'm not falling down for you again"), we took him at his word. He turned 81 this year, and has incurred all manner of injuries via stunts and aviation mishaps.

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" remains the best Indiana Jones film partly due to its very real sense of danger. According to John Rhys-Davies, who played Indy's sidekick Sallah, director Steven Spielberg "was making it up as he goes along. The script was endless pages of action description. A lot of the dialogue was (improvised) by Steven; Steven and Harrison [Ford]; or Steven, Harrison and myself." Indeed, one of the most famous scenes in "Raiders" was improvised by Ford, wherein he shoots stuntman Terry Richards' swordsman during the Cairo marketplace scene.
But while the spontaneous nature of filming "Raiders" lent the film an air of excitement and danger, it also made for a literally dangerous shoot, to the extent that Spielberg was amazed Ford's stunt team made it through the production alive. The director has written about his remorse over allowing Ford to perform many of the stunts himself and...

Where does the line between fact and fiction begin to blur? Certain once-in-a-generation roles tend to have that effect on their respective actors, like Robert Downey, Jr. and the commonly accepted narrative that he's essentially "playing himself" as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, Harrison Ford has had more than his fair share of portraying iconic characters, and now the star will forever remain indistinguishable from his performances as Indiana Jones, thanks to an unexpected source -- the scientific community.
The Hollywood Reporter has the details on this fun story that Indy himself would probably consider to be unsettling. Thanks to a singularly famous line in "Raiders of the Lost Ark," which was subsequently doubled down upon and turned into a recurring gag with every proceeding film, even the most casual fans know that there's only one thing that the fearless archaeologist and explorer simply cannot abide: snakes.

Thanks to a line of dialogue from Indiana Jones in Steven Spielberg’s 1981 blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harrison Ford has long been linked to snakes. The association has now been formalized in real life.
Researchers have discovered a new species of snake in Peru’s Andes mountains and named the variety after Ford. The species is called Tachymenoides harrisonfordi, and is described as a type of slender snake that measures 16 inches long. The snake is pale yellowish-brown with scattered black blotches, a black belly and a vertical streak over his copper-colored eye, making it well-camouflaged to the surrounding environment. The discovery, a joint collaboration between researchers from Peru and the United States, turned up only one male snake in May 2022 while it was sunbathing in a swamp in Otishi National Park.

At the risk of diving into the annoying and frankly nonsensical discourse surrounding nepotism in the film industry, Amy Redford’s sophomore feature “What Comes Around” represents a curious object. Directed by Robert Redford’s daughter, starring Joaquin Phoenix’s sister Summer Phoenix and Casper Van Dien’s daughter Grace Van Dien (not to mention a cameo appearance by Phoenix and Casey Affleck’s son Indiana), this little IFC Films thriller has more than enough tangential associations.

Boyd Holbrook plays a lot of bad guys. He's currently the villain Clement Mansell on "Justified: City Primeval." He played henchman Pierce in "Logan." And most recently, he portrayed Klaber, a Nazi-sympathizing heavy in "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny." There's just something about the actor that enables him to play nefarious, wicked characters and play them well. However, when you keep playing similar parts, you run the risk of being typecast. Sure, Holbrook is very good at playing baddies, but I doubt he wants to play them all the time. Where's the fun in that?
As it turns out, Holbrook had some reservations about joining the cast of "Dial of Destiny." He hesitated because the part was just a little too similar to a role he played before. However, he eventually came around to the idea after thinking it over. Still, you can see where the actor is...

Lucasfilm has been roped into a legal battle between rival clothing companies over the backpack Indiana Jones wore in the latest installment to the franchise.
In a suit filed on Wednesday in California federal court, Frost River accused Lucasfilm of using its products in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny without permission and then passing off its signature backpacks as a competitor’s product in a deceptive marketing campaign.
“This lawsuit concerns two corporate juggernauts, Filson and Lucasfilm, exploiting the hard work and intellectual property of Frost River, a small American company,” states the complaint.
In the movie, Indiana Jones wears a bag with a knapsack design featuring a drawstring-topped main compartment with a flap cover. Frost River says Lucasfilm never obtained its permission to use its product. Instead, the studio removed identifying marks on the bag in violation of a federal trademark law.

Hat. Whip. Nazis. Trains. CG de-aging. It’s interesting what it takes to bring Indiana Jones back to the ‘40s. It’s even more interesting what filmmaking language “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” employs to make us feel embedded in the era’s cinema of action and adventure: It wouldn’t be complete without a goon falling into the abyss to the accompaniment of the Wilhelm scream.
When audiences hear the Wilhelm scream in “Dial of Destiny,” it’s sound designer Gary Rydstrom doing a little time travel of his own: Back to the ‘70s and the creative exuberance of the Movie Brats, and even further still to the Westerns and serials that made heroes seem larger than life. Well, it certainly wasn’t the gang busters weekend we had anticipated, but Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One was still able to pull off the best 5-day opening of the franchise with a little over $80 million, beating the 5-day take of 2000’s Mission: Impossible- 2’s $78.8 million when the average ticket price was $5.39 compared to 2023’s $10.45. However Dead Reckoning Part One’s 3-day take of $56.2 million will fall short of 2018’s Fallout record of $61.2 million.
So what does this all mean?
