In 1999, Universal Studios released The Mummy, a fresh take on the classic monster movie. The Stephen Sommers-directed film was a huge hit and turned Brendan Fraser into a bonafide movie star. The success of the first movie led to two sequels – The Mummy Returns in 2001, and Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. And though a fourth film was slated for production, it was ultimately never released.
So whatever happened to this mysterious Mummy movie? Will it ever see the light of day, or will it remain forever hidden like an ancient relic? Let’s find out Wtf Happened to the Unmade Mummy: Rise of the Aztec Movie.
Before The Mummy’s release, Universal Studios had spent close to a decade trying to get a remake off the ground. In the late 1980s, producers James Jacks and Sean Daniel sought to modernize the 1932 classic and hoped to turn it into a potential franchise.

Sy Lombrok (Kellan Lutz) is an escaped convict, Kane Sommerville (Daniel MacPherson) is an alcoholic lieutenant. They don't really get along, but they both have only hours to get off the planet before it's obliterated in the new sci-fi action film The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One. An ambitious sci-fi story that retains an epic scope without losing sight of its character-centric sensibilities, The Osiris Child is now out on VOD and Digital HD from Rlj Entertainment, and Daily Dead recently had the chance to speak with actor Kellan Lutz about his intriguing role, working with director Shane Abbess, visiting a real prison to prepare to play his character, and much more.
How did this movie come onto your radar, and what attracted you to the character of Sy Lombrok? He is a really intriguing character.
Kellan Lutz: Well, I met Shane Abbess about five years ago...

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming sci-fi action film, The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One. I'm not really sure about that weird subtitle, but the movie looks pretty good! I'm a sucker for sci-fi, though, even the low budget sci-fi stuff like this. There are some pretty cool visuals to check out in the trailer!
The movie was shot in Australia and the cast includes Kellan Lutz, Isabel Lucas, Daniel MacPherson, Luke Ford, and Teagan Croft. Here's the synopsis:
Set in the future in a time of interplanetary colonisation, Sy (Lutz), a mysterious drifter, meets Kane (MacPherson), a lieutenant working for an off-world military contractor, Exor. The unlikely pair must work together to rescue Kane’s young daughter (Croft) and reach safety amid an impending global crisis which was brought on by Exor itself. .Let.s create an iconic Hairy that no one will ever forget,. Taylor said. To play the character named Jarli the Bindawu warrior, the producers cast Clarence Ryan, who first worked for Goalpost as a teenager in the children.s series Lockie Leonard 10 years ago. He played Egg, Lockie.s best friend.
Jarli is one of several new characters which make the sequel .bolder, even bigger and better and more compelling as we put the characters under even more pressure,. Blight told If.
Directed by Wayne Blair and Leah Purcell, the six-part futuristic sci-fi drama co-produced by Goalpost and New Zealand.s Pukeko Pictures premieres at 9.30 pm on June 29 on the ABC and at 10 pm on June 28 on Sundance TV in the Us..
The story picks up with the destruction of the Zone and the Hairy people splitting up as they hide around the city in fear for their lives. Koen (Hunter Page-Lochard), the chosen Cleverman, sets out to harness his powers in hopes of bringing all the cultures together..
His half-brother Waruu (Rob Collins) shares the same vision but his methods are dubious. For Koen to realize his mission, he must defeat Waruu and the full force of the government..
The writers are Jane Allen, Stuart Page, Justine Juel Gillmer, the series creator Ryan Griffen and Jada Alberts.

ABC head of scripted production Sally Riley said, .The Cleverman world expands in this thrilling second season introducing new characters and deepening relationships with our established characters. It.s an exciting ride for new and returning audiences..

An intriguing trailer has launched for a new sci-fi movie series titled The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One (or, vice versa, as Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child) from Australian filmmaker Shane Abbess. Described as an "adrenaline-fueled sci fi adventure", the story takes place in the future in a time of interplanetary colonization, about a father who has to rescue a young woman amidst a global crisis. The full cast includes Kellan Lutz, Daniel MacPherson, Isabel Lucas, Luke Ford, Rachel Griffiths, Temuera Morrison, Bren Foster, Dwaine Stevenson, and Teagan Croft. As much as I was expecting this to look cheesy or too low budget, it actually looks pretty damn good, with some impressive visual effects and an interesting story. I don't know if the movie is any good, but I'm very curious about checking this out. Here's the first trailer for Shane Abbess' Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child,...

J’s uncles include Barry “Baz” Brown (Scott Speedman), Smurf’s adopted son and robbery leader; Andrew “Pope” Cody (Shawn Hatosy), the mentally disturbed oldest son; Craig Cody (Ben Robson), the party-minded middle son; and Deran Cody (Jake Weary), the closeted youngest son. The series premiered this past June.

Daniel MacPherson and director Shane Abbess are mates and close creative collaborators, but that didn.t stop the pair having some robust discussions before the actor signed on for futuristic thriller SFv1.

Sometimes all it takes to hook me into a movie is a solid premise. Other times it’s strong world building. And occasionally it’s the misguided belief that Jonny Lee Miller is in said movie.
Jonny Lee Miller is not in Infini, but five minutes into my screening I believed he was, due to a painted poster of the cast featuring a main character who bears a vague resemblance to him. When the real lead was revealed, a wave of disappointment hit me; not only had I missold the film to myself, but I had done the same to the friend sitting next to me.
None of this is the movie’s fault, but unfortunately Infini never recovered from that initial disappointment.

I feel like Infini and I got off on the wrong foot. Its title frustrated me, being one of those made-up words just doesn’t sound right when it’s spoken out loud; the most common response to me mentioning the film to people was “Is that like ‘Infamy’ but with an ‘N’?” to which I routinely had to reply that it’s actually ‘Infinity’ with a missing ‘Ty’, before moving on to describe the plot (oh God).
Regrettably, the confusing title is among the biggest talking points surrounding Infini – a run-of-the-mill sci-fi horror that merely skims its central themes about the nature of humanity.
Infini is set in the not-too-distant future, when people are sent from Earth to work on mining colonies in distant corners of the galaxy. Whit Carmichael (Daniel MacPherson) is a coder who is assigned to a particularly remote outpost called Infini, with...

Luke Ford and Anna Samson play a distinctly odd couple at the centre of What Time Is My Heart?, the debut feature from writer-director Romi Trower.
Produced by Tristram Miall, the privately financed film also features Brooke Satchwell, Wade Briggs, Meyne Wyatt, Eddie Baroo and Kaarin Fairfax. Shooting wrapped in suburban Melbourne at the end of last month.
Ford, whose recent credits include Infini, Catching Milat and Deadline Gallipoli, plays Adrian, an It genius with a penchant for fast cars, leather gloves and soppy 1980s pop music, who also happens to have Ocd.
Samson (The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Winners & Losers) is Grace, a street artist with multiple personalities who can only engage in sexual activity through her promiscuous alter ego named G.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Vertical Entertainment. *there are spoilers here. It would be best if viewers saw the film before reading this review. Director: Shane Abbess. Writers: Shane Abbess and Brian Cachia. Cast: Daniel MacPherson, Grace Huang, Luke Hemsworth, Bren Foster, Luke Ford and Dwaine Stevenson. Infini is a science fiction horror feature. In the bloody vein of Event Horizon (1997), the film takes place on a distant mining facility. Here, an ancient organism is spreading through a vulnerable crew. The film stars Daniel MacPherson as the protagonist, Whit Carmichael. Grace Huang, Luke Hemsworth and Bren Foster also star. Truly remarkable, the film offers a good deal of conflict and violent sequences as exposure to a virus wreaks havoc on everyone's psychology. The film also offers an ambivalent ending, but this viewer has a dark interpretation of the final scenes. Infini even offers a social message,...

If the 3rd annual Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards could be categorised as a David vs Goliath battle between The Rocket and The Great Gatsby, Goliath is the hands-down winner.
Baz Luhrmann.s opulent romantic drama won six awards tonight, for best film, director, adapted screenplay, lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio, supporting actor Joel Edgerton and supporting actress Elizabeth Debicki.
That.s in addition to the six awards in craft categories plus the Aacta award for outstanding achievement in visual effects bestowed on Luhrmann.s film on Tuesday.
Kim Mordaunt's The Rocket, which had 12 nominations versus 14 for Gatsby, had to be content with just one trophy, for Mordaunt.s original screenplay.
The outcome is likely to reignite the debate about the near-impossibility of comparing a lavishly-mounted 3D film financed by Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures, which cost $160 million, with an independently-funded Lao-set film from a first-time director budgeted at about $2 million.

Being on good terms with your neighbours is one thing, using their house to shoot a movie something else entirely. Rolf de Heer must be especially convincing, or just have the best neighbours in the world considering the film in question involved putting a hole in the fence, loudly playing bad rap music, growing the grass out wildly, and putting shopping trolleys in the front yard.
Using his own house and the two neighbouring ones as the main setting for The King Is Dead!, writer and director Rolf de Heer (Ten Canoes, The Tracker) saw moving house and his good relationship with his neighbours as the perfect opportunity to film a script he.d written a few years earlier. .An opportunity came up that seemed to me to be too good to refuse,. he told If Magazine.

SPAAmart project Wake Up Dead, to be directed by Joel Kohn, and an adaptation of a stage play by former Sydneysider Jack Feldstein, are among the features being developed under Garry Charny.s new production company, Spotted Turquoise Films.
Charny has kept a low film profile since his former company, April Films, produced Ray Lawrence.s Jindabyne, which was in official selection at Cannes in 2006. He has been keen to re-enter the business, however, and has appointed Vca graduate and short film producer Josh Butt to work with him on development and packaging.
.I want to do films with heart," Charny told If Magazine. "I will never make Snowtown or even Animal Kingdom, not because they are not good -- or bad -- but because they are just not what I want to make....

After we put up the competition to win tickets to a screening of Red Dog, every single Australian who follows us on Twitter and Facebook replied telling us how great the movie is! It’s hits UK cinemas24th February and you can still enter our screening competition by clicking here. It’s also probably worth mentioning that Koko, the dog in the movie, recently beat Uggie, the dog from The Artist to win the award for ‘best dog’ award at the Golden Collar awards in La (no lie!!)
Have a watch of the clip below which shows Red Dog playing chicken with a car to demand the right to hitch-hike. It really sets the tone for the movie which I now really want to see!
